Well, 2k18, it’s finally time for DA: Inquisition! ..I quess. My little baby boy, off to destroy demons
That's too bad, I was hoping the movie would be at least mildly good. I'll probably try to watch if it ever comes up on TV while I'm switching channels, but I'll keep my expectations really low.
I set the bar very low for the new The Grudge movie. Yet somehow, the movie managed to be even worse than I expected. Holy shit, someone give me back those 94 minutes. I could've done something useful.
Theo, looking at Stiles: Look at him.
Theo: I would die for him.
Theo: I would kill for him.
Theo: Either way, what bliss.
JK Rowling unfortunately seems to have no idea how fandom works, what meta is or that people might have different interpretations of her work. It also seems that her vision of Draco also extends to Slytherin House as a whole in most cases, since she tends to portray them as being the "evil House" with little to none redemable qualities or characters, wich is a shame. Specially for children who went to Pottermore and got sorted into Slytherin.
It's a black and white mentality that just dosen't hold up to reality and to the potential depth she (accidentaly) gave those characters, and it would be great if she could just stop policing the fandom, specially in matters her input is not required.
Hey, can you link me to where JKR said "Why do people ship Drarry?" Or anything about Drarry at all? Because I've never once seen her even mention it. And your post is pretty much ascribing that quote to her. I'm happy to admit it if I'm wrong, but I just don't think she ever said that.
Hello there. I assume you are referring to this post I made. First of all, I am not “ascribing” a quote to JK Rowling. There are no quotation marks there. However, I am referencing real things.
For example, she has multiple times gone on rather long and (in my opinion inappropriately controlling, didactic, and sanctimonious) rants about how upset she was that fans liked Draco and why people shouldn’t like him. She has also suggested several times that anyone who likes him must be attracted to Tom Felton (which is also rude, as it discounts the depth of his performance and also kinda inappropriate. Imagine if a male author said that about a female actress).
Even very recently she posted this on pottermore:
“For all this, Draco remains a person of dubious morality in the seven published books, and I have often had cause to remark on how unnerved I have been by the number of girls who fell for this particular fictional character (although I do not discount the appeal of Tom Felton, who plays Draco brilliantly in the films and, ironically, is about the nicest person you could meet). Draco has all the dark glamour of the anti-hero; girls are very apt to romanticise such people. All of this left me in the unenviable position of pouring cold common sense on ardent readers’ daydreams as I told them, rather severely, that Draco was not concealing a heart of gold under all that sneering and prejudice and that no, he and Harry were not destined to end up best friends.“
(x)
This is very reductive and condescending. And also obviously pours cold water on drarry. It’s only one example. But there are lots more if you feel like digging. The same post also referred to liking Draco’s character as an “unhealthy fantasy.”
So yeah. She really does hold those attitudes. Despite writing books with a tremendous amount of drarry subtext.
