I found this a lot funnier than I should have

It‘s called arches for a reason. these pictures include delicate arch from the view point. we didnt do the full hike up to delicate arch because it got hot very quickly, and it is a strenuous hike. We also hiked to landscape arch which is an easy hike but we did it around noon and that trail has no shade. we also did sand dune arch which was between two fins and was really cool. I also would love to come back to do more hikes to other arches like delicate and more located in devils garden (where landscape is located). We also did the Windows after watching the sunset.

Now we move on to arches which will take a few posts. first thing we did was watch the sunset twice. We found that it was best to hike early in the morning around sunrise or later around sunset when it was not 100 outside. and if you see the bottom of the clouds it looks like it is raining because it is, but it is so hot that it evaporates before it hits the ground. the first sunset was disappointing but the second one (which most of the images are of) was a lot better. We also went star gazing because we planned the trip around the new moon because all these parks are international dark sky parks but I don’t have any pictures because you can capture the stars with an iPhone camera

First national Park we hit was canyon lands in Moab very close to arches. we didn’t do much in canyon lands, we mainly drove through the island in the sky and hiked to mesa arch and upheaval dome. I was there in the summer so it was quite hot. I definitely want to go back once I am in better shape to do more advanced hikes because there were some I wish I could have done.

Now I am on to my summer trip where I visited the big five. the big five are the five national parks that are located in southern Utah. My family almost visited part of Utah last summer but we didn’t because we got a good deal flying out of Colorado. speaking of Colorado that is how my family start the trip. we decided to fly back into Denver and drive through Colorado to utah. so these are pictures from Colorado.

We also stopped at luray caverns on our trip. my mom had been there with my sister but I hadn’t. One reason I wanted to go was for the great stalagpipe organ which as a musician and a person who has had to make an instrument for scratch before, seeing it was a bucket list item for me.

Next up is actual Shenandoah, which we only did one hike in and those pictures are on my moms phone because she has a better camera and I hiked ahead but we drove through and watched a sunset and it was a good spring break trip. Also I would like to speak to whoever decided metal toilet seats on pit toliets with no Power in the mountains, a place with ice like this in April, was a good idea, because that was not fun.

the first national park of the year was Shenandoah in early April but we made a stop at Natural Bridge state park in Virginia. this is the first of four places I went to this year called natural bridge(s). I also made the mistake of forgetting to put on boots so I hiked in crocs and will not be making that mistake again. But it was still very pretty and I plan to go back and take my sister because she was at college at the time.
last year i shared some pictures I took when my family went to rocky Mountain, grand Teton and yellowstone national parks, and I was thinking about the things I have done in the past year and realized in 2021 I visited 7 more national parks and even more places in the national park service, and I haven’t shared any picture yet so here is a bit of a warning. you’re about to see a lot of pictures of rocks.
as a tuba and sousaphone player, this looks awful. like i understand why and stuff but they make musician masks that have a slit in them to fit a mouth piece or reed, and another type made for flutes, and then bell covers that basically work as masks for instruments. and also if the person is playing a sousaphone, really to only have reason to be playing them would be for marching band which why not had socially distanced practices outside like they would be for games, otherwise give the poor person a concert tuba and a chair if they don’t have one (though I think they already might).
Are you guys ready to see a picture from a local high school band practice during covid

Flash backs to when my sister was listening to drink with me and she was like this is a sad song and I said almost all the songs after this one have someone dying in them and the one that doesn't is about a person singing about how all their friends are dead

It’s a lovely morning in the late Cretaceous, and you are a horrible halszkaraptor.
it’s the 21st day of the 21st year of the 21st century.
you can only reblog this today.
I will never forget the year the police shot rubber bullets & teargas at children & journalists & medics, and then welcomed a mob of white terrorists into the Capitol building. The entire U.S. government should be on trial for crimes against humanity

🥺 support a black lgbt owned bookstore trying to open in the south? Bc I want to go there when they open? Thank u?
Look at them

From the Kickstarter: “Today, Durham is without a Black-owned bookselling storefront and the handful of bookstores in the area do not, at present, offer an expansive cross-genre collection of Black literature. This is the gap that Rofhiwa hopes to fill: (1) creating a space for collective imagining, where children and adults may find and share stories that reflect who they are (2) fostering the convivial atmosphere that is seminal to creating the bookcafé as a communal space (3) offering a deep collection of works by Black writers that invites readers to explore what it means to be Black here, over there and everywhere where Black people make life.”
