13 things i learned in 2020
nothing stays the same. without a moment's notice, everything can change and leave you wondering what the hell happened. living in the present and appreciating the small things is important because nothing else is guaranteed or permanent.
we humans are not as important as we believe ourselves to be. when the bee dies so do the flowers. when we die the flowers grow back. if we are to build a better future, we must give back to the planet by changing the ways we live on it.
time is not real. there is nothing in the laws of physics that can prove it is anything other than a human construct.
power of the people will always outweigh the people in power. the 1% are scared of us realising this and acting upon it.
home is more of a person than a place. the way i see my family has changed. all that other stuff i thought i wanted when the true treasure was here all along.
distance does not lessen the value or strength of true friendship.
self-care is by far the most important skill to learn in life. being aware of my needs, how things effect me, and eliminating harmful inputs has gone a long way in improving my physical and mental health.
social media does not offer an honest or healthy way in which to view the world. like a toxic friend, it uses our desires and insecurities in all sorts of manipulative ways. being able to take a step back and reconnect with the real physical world can be both invigorating and revelatory.
simple acts of kindness cost nothing but are as precious as gold dust.
eye contact has become a new form of communication. with masks hiding half of our faces we have no choice but to look at each other's souls. we see each other more now and we offer strangers in the street smiles from our eyes rather than our mouths.
being lonely doesn't mean we're alone. everyone is going through something. even if they don't show it.
laughter is the closest thing there is to magic. watery eyes, burning chests and aching ribs from laughing too much are the most wonderful feelings in the world.
i am much more resilient and capable than i thought i was.

[14:57] a gentle breeze brushed over your exposed arms, your sleeves rolled up to just above your elbows. the world beneath your hands was splattered with various shades of pink, each brushstroke adding a new streak of life into the canvas.
“hey,” jay called from behind you, “i’m done with these brushes, are there any more?”
your boyfriend, jay, had agreed to help you on your project, and you assigned him with brush-washing duties.
“no, that’s good for now, babe. thank you,” you replied, not looking away from the work in progress that was presented in front of you.
you saw jay’s shoes emerge next to yours from the corner of your eye and the warmth of his hand met your lower back. you could feel his gaze shift from the canvas to your face. pursing your lips, you found it harder and harder to focus, jay’s stare not leaving. cheeks flushed, you turned to face him.
“stop staring at me, i’m loosing focus”
jay burst into a fit of giggles, which you furrowed your brows at.
“you’re cute,” he said, booping your nose.
you reached up, feeling a cold, tickling sensation where jay had previously placed his index finger, only to realize that he had swiped hot pink acrylic paint on your nose
you gasped, and jay laughed once more, only this time slowly backing away
“jay you did not just—,” you dipped your brush in the paint and raised it to his height. “oh, it’s on”
Here's the thing, I think with time I would have made peace with Sabrina sacrificing herself had it been on her own terms when she willingly decided to go into the Void with Pandora's box.
She knew she wasn't going to make it out, she made sure to write a letter to all her loved ones. She was finally fully embracing her role and her importance and putting everyone else's lives before her own.
And then they had to just not trust her and her plan and bring her soul back. Only to have her traumatized, to have her wander on her own for God knows how long and then die in terrible pain to save people who simply would not have disappeared in the first place had they just let her do her thing.
Sabrina was stubborn and naive but she wasn't stupid, and maybe, just maybe, she would have still found a way to escape the Void. All they had to do was trust her.
love you goodbye.

It wasn’t a secret that yours and Jaehyun’s relationship was the epitome of dysfunctional.
You two had been together for two years which formed quite the surprise between your mutual friends.
You had been close friends with Jaehyun for many, many years which meant you knew exactly the type of person he was.
He didn’t do long-term, nor had he been able to stay in a committed relationship. He was a bit reckless and loved to live in the moment. Thinking about a future and settling down with one person for the rest of his life was out of the question. It scared him, and he didn’t like being scared.
But the moment he met you, he just knew, you were going to be the one to change that.
