@highpri3stess i think that might be the beauty of self-ships, in the sense that they give us something we can't have. like, i could reassure you that of course they would, but that wouldn't help convince me.

but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether or not they would look our way in reality because that's the whole point. it's not reality, meaning they can be whatever we want them to be. instead of feeling bad because they would never date us in real life, we can accept that they aren't real, and reap the benefits of that.

and it's not lying to yourself, because they can be literally whatever you want them to be in your head.

because if they were real they couldn't be what we needed them to be. their ability to be exactly what we want, how we want it stems from their being fictional.

idk that's just how i think about it

Sometimes deep in my heart I know majority of my selfships won't look my way and that's why I don't talk about them a lot. I really cannot bear to lie to myself that they would.
