hi!!! i just want to say that i absolutely love your writing!!! feel free to ignore this if you don't feel it, but i would love to see a fic with any haikyuu character (preferably kurroo, oikawa, or aone) being at a family dinner and reader's mom starts making passive aggressive comments about her??

Aone

Your mother either has a death wish or is pretty familiar with Aone already if she dares to make passive-aggressive comments in his presence. He's one of the most feared guys for a reason. But if she's known him for a while and knows what a carebear she is or if she's upset about something, she could slip up.

Nonetheless, Aone is big about respect. He wouldn't disrespect her by any means. If she wouldn't stop on her own, he'd get up though, tower over her - not realizing how scary that is - and say "if you don't have anything nice to say you shouldn't say anything at all" and either leave with you or sit back down, content that this is settled.

Might ask you to cut contact if he notices she's not learning.

Oh, and of course - he's holding your hand under the table. Touch is very important to him to calm down so he makes sure you know he's there for you.

Kuroo

I know I know he's the sass master. But we often forget that he (most likely) comes from a broken home and was really shy as a kid. He respects authority figures too. I think he would call your mom out, but he would do it in a polite, backhanded way. He's the kind of guy to insult her in a way that leaves her feeling complimented.

He's using his hands to speak, I think, so he'd probably press your knee against yours, shield your body with his in a way... He's big on body language.

Kuroo would definitely ask you about this later. Has she done this before, is this a repeat pattern, do you know what triggers it?

He's gone through therapy for sure, so he knows a lot. Might ask you to join him in therapy as well (not as joint therapy but like, both of you, you know?) and depending how long you've been dating, he might actually open up about his own struggles and how that event triggered him too.

Oikawa

the messiest of them all. He's got a way older sister. I think he's the baby of the family, so he might not be used to parents dealing passive-aggressive comments at him and if they hit you, they might as well be hitting him.

Depending on just how aggressive these comments are, he's either going to be sickly sweet about this, or Karen launching herself over the table aggressive. Either way, he's getting back at your mum.

He might forget to keep contact to you in all of that and go a little overboard, but if you've been dating for a minute, you might already be aware of his dramatics.

You're probably not going to get invited back pretty soon, but when you leave, he's not making it about himself but about you. Full on pampering session and all.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

well, for fanfics normally i start with the character i want to write for, then flesh out the plot points. however for my own personal novel i'm working on it's all plot and no characters T-T

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)

I think I'm a little bit of both. I need to have a basic idea for the plot beforehand, and normally spend a few days fleshing it out a bit in my mind, but once i sit down and start writing i just let unfold as i write.
