It genuinely is pissing me off how out of the two options the us has, we have a fascist and a republican larping as a progressive. Is Kamala better? Yes, definitely. But she is not good. During her time as a prosecutor she withheld evidence that would get a man off of death row until forced by the courts not to do so, has admitted to smoking pot meanwhile was putting people away with the longest possible sentence for the same thing, and kept non violent prisoners past there release dates in prison for cheap labor. She’s also said that she’d continue to arm Israel and would not impose stricter restrictions against them, and said she’d make the us military the “most lethal fighting force in the world” (which is something we don’t need, and that funding should instead be diverted to things like feeding and homing the unhoused, public education, public infrastructure, etc). Listen, vote blue, but once she’s in, we need to be out in the streets. We need to show that we won’t settle for “eh, better than a fascist”.

I write to you with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. After 188 days of displacement, constant fear, and struggling to survive, we managed to escape with our lives and reach Egypt. But the pain didn’t stop there. Just yesterday, we lost my children's grandfather 💔, not due to direct war, but because of malnutrition and the lack of basic life necessities.
