My favorite canon detail about batstarion is that in the epilogue, when he's in that form and comes out of it, he does so very gracefully with a twirl. But if you just click on him to talk to him in bat form, he has the same animation you get as a druid getting out of wild shape. That lumbery, sort of clumsy transformation back into humanoid form.

Like he was caught off guard and didn't have time to transform back in the graceful way he likes. I could see him fussing and pouting over it. "Don't distract me in bat form! >:C"

Indeed, with A!A can be played in various ways, the goodness of the answers in End allow. The sly and quiet path of power, the bloody carnage, or the voyage of hedonism on a ship. Also, I sense more kinds of dynamics than one - pet lapdog, in romance. The knight kneels before the king too, after all, if it's about knees.

In general, Larian might not have really developed this theme in Astarion's character. That Astarion will enjoy the power dynamic where he is in charge has validity.

Astarion has that "pet" edge. But he has the "we are sovereigns" edge. He uses "pet" before ritual and after. Overall, he seems to be having fun and likes "pet names", he mentions it a bit in the banter with Lae. Druge was called a blood bag once. Pet-theme is interesting for Druge redeemed or not, Astarion likes "murderous monsters".

In the epilogue, it's emphasized that they share everything together, Tav could be the "no one dares touch us", fits "warrior-lover" dynamic,

I find the theme of "we" interesting in A!A, he often says "we, our, together". I find that a very romantic trait.

The fun thing is that he literally can't keep them under control, he doesn't want to hold back at all. It's pretty in the vampire genre, as Astarion arranges an eternal bond forever. And in terms of the whole character is spelled out in a very sensual way.

He couldn't trust anyone, those scars would stay with him. He's been alone for a very long time with everything taken away from him, in that time he could probably devalue all feelings.

Sharing something with someone and all in all being together is a truly special thing to him, especially forever.

But what? You still find him attractive? You think your avatar getting on their knees for him is kinda sexy? You find the character compelling and interesting to analyse? You find aspects of his arc DEEPLY romantic? Oh but no you'd never do that to him. The man made of pixels.

You know what's so interesting about these people, the ones that ascend him just for the sex scene then reload their save. Or the ones who consume content involving A!A but always make remarks about "oh I could never do that myself BUT".

You do know you're completely allowed and valid in ascending him right?

I have two durges, one is for the sweet and wholesome redemption route for both them and Astarion. The other? Evil power hungry bastards who are obsessed with each other and want to watch the world burn. She's ascending him. Cirrus has no problem being a powerful vampires lapdog. When the character matches A!A's energy, it's a VERY fun dynamic. It's no different from the people who want to romance Minthara.

You taking some sort of moral high ground about a video game but then admitting you find the evil route attractive is...Interesting.

Remember, this is a role playing game. You don't have to make the "right" choices every time. Even that is subjective.

Do you think Ascended Astarion will have other consorts? There's this idea recently (pushed by AA haters ofc) that this will happen regardless of whether Tav wants it or not, because he will get tired of them eventually and having multiple consorts is something vampire lords are into (and they often offer Strahd as an example). To be clear, I know there are some AA enjoyers who love the idea of more consorts, I'm not against people headcanoning it! I'm only against those who try to claim this is inevitable and something the game confirms as being (future) canon.

I find it fascinating when people make headcanons for characters they hate, especially ones that hinge on a relationship you have to choose from the get-go. Must not hate him too much if they're envisioning themselves with him and he pulls bringing in new consorts. Even then, having the headcanon that he'll do this to their Tav means their Tav wasn't very special to Astarion at all and that's depressing.

After analyzing him over the past year, if I had to continue Astarion's story given how it left off, I'd say no. Spawn or Ascended, he wouldn't bring in any more lovers. Toys, possibly, but not serious lovers, or in the case of Ascended, consorts. He has tunnel vision for Tav and it feels strange for him to even attempt that, especially against Tav's wishes. He's doing all he can to make them happy and want to stay with him, why would he destroy that by bringing in people who mean nothing to him?

Tav is someone who has earned the consort position in his eyes and there really wouldn't be a way for another to reach that level without going on an epic adventure with him. It's still a toss-up then. Astarion, both spawn and ascended, should have a very strong bond with Tav by the end of the game if romanced.

And let's address the elephant in the room: If Ascended Astarion would do that to Tav, then so would Spawn as they are the same person. They have the same personality and spitefulness needed to pull that off if they really wanted to.
