Playing With Weft Bundling And Color Variations. Little Cardboard Looms Are Great For Working Up Samples

Playing with weft bundling and color variations. Little cardboard looms are great for working up samples to test your colors before going to the big loom. I use the dent spacing from the loom I'm going to work on to get my sett.

I'm Wondering What Will Happen To All The Winter Grasses Come Spring.

I'm wondering what will happen to all the winter grasses come Spring.

Is this a goldenrod or a Chervil? I can't tell. It's hard to know at this time of year.

I'm also looking at the grasses in a different way. As in, how do I translate this to stitch?

I Went For My Forest Walk Last Evening. Temps In The Low 40s. The Trails Were Deserted. The Connector

I went for my forest walk last evening. Temps in the low 40s. The trails were deserted. The connector trail is spooky when you're alone in the late evening.

Then the tiny night musicians start playing their evening song. When I hear them croaking and chirping, I feel comforted.

Two barred owls were talking to each other.

Went home and started a supper of sausage and egg noodles, biscuits and peas; all cooking and warming the kitchen. This is food that has a deep memory. This is what you eat when you are cold.

Plant of the Day

Saturday 23 December 2023

At Gordon Castle, Scotland, these pillars of Fagus sylvatica Atropurpurea Group (copper beech, purple beech) add height and structure to the 100m long central borders. The designer Arne Maynard surrounded the topiary tree pillars with herbaceous plants in a soft colour palette with flowers and foliage of blue, purple and white with touches of yellow and apricot.

I Feel Like I'm Falling Into A Post Holiday Depression. Didn't Leave The House At All Today. It Was Cold

I feel like I'm falling into a post holiday depression. Didn't leave the house at all today. It was cold and gray. Now, rain. It feels like the cold has gotten into my bones. But, it's too early in the season.
