even just in the platonic sense the steve bucky dynamic has so untapped potential that marvel continuously lets go to waste by letting them say one line to each other per movie. srsly tho!!!! these bitches are early childhood friends. they legitimately know everything about each other. they’ve seen each other at high points low points what the fuck pal??? points, they know every embarrassing story by heart, they must have so many inside jokes, nothing is weird for them. they can be brutally horribly rudely honest with one another & get away with it. They fight , physically and verbally, and will knock sense into each other. or!! on the flip side they come up with the stupidest shit and get each other in trouble on purpose. the interactions are endless and unique and marvel is ridiculous to not make use of this. their default emotion/friendship setting is not pain!!!!

My question is: what is Steve Rogers’s body count? … We don’t talk about that a lot because he’s an American Hero ™ and American Heroes don’t ever actually kill people even when they’re, you know, soldiers in the actual fucking Army.  The American Hero has to show mercy and give everybody a second chance and any time the Bad Guy dies, it has to be because he made a mistake that lead to his own death.  The hero can never actually just fucking murder him in our stories because that would be wrong and a true American would never do something like that.

So, like, has Steve Rogers ever shot a dude in the face?  Has he ever snapped anybody’s neck?  Has he ever been struggling for his own life and used his shield to take a life?

If you have either canon comics knowledge or just Opinions and Feelings, please feel free to share.  Because, like, dude was a soldier in WWII on the European Front fighting Nazis, kicking open doors with gun literally blazing, so he’s obviously killed people, but we never discuss this.  How does Steve reconcile killing?  Does he feel guilt?  Is he comfortable with his actions?  Has he killed people since he got pulled out of the ice?  How does he feel about taking human lives?  Does he talk to anybody about it?  Does he just internalize it and let it eat him up inside?

I understand the appeal of wanting every adult hero to instinctively adopt teenage Peter Parker, but can it really beat the hilarity of acknowledging that at 15 Peter was 5'10", unusually buff, went by a moniker with Man in it, wore a creepy full face mask, and had a tightly guarded secret identity and probably a Queens accent thick enough to have come out of a jello mold, and adult heroes reasonably responded to him by going, “Wow, this grown man is an immature asshole for no reason.”
