digital fanart for the Ancillary Justice books by Ann Leckie. On top are two busts of the character Breq, who has brown skin and dark hair. In the first drawing her hair is long and wild, in the second it is shaved short. She has a pretty neutral expression. On the bottom are two busts of Seivarden, who has darker skin than Breq and shorter hair, though it's also dark and curly. In the first bust she has stubble and looks haggard, in the second she's clean shaven with her hair styled off her face and a haughty expression.

my favourite thing about imperial radch is that when breq realizes she is part of an imperialistic hellscape that she cannot escape, her reaction is basically 'i think i will cause problems on purpose' and does so by weaponizing bureaucratic red tape against a dictator

i really loved the imperial radch trilogy but i think my favorite part of it is in ancillary justice, where seivarden asks “if that’s what you’re willing to do for someone you hate, what would do you for someone you loved?” and breq claims to be incapable of answering.

and then, in the next chapter, awn dies

and we find the answer to that question was there on every page
