[12:38pm] Drippin’ - l.jn (Jeno x gender neutral reader, established relationship!au, fluff) 0.5k

You and your boyfriend Jeno, both graduate marine biology students, worked for a marine research lab and sanctuary. There was recently a rescue dolphin who was brought in with wounds from getting wrapped in a fishing line.

For some reason, the animals you both worked with, no matter what species, always liked Jeno more than you, which was why you were surprised when Rodney, the rescued dolphin, chose to play with you instead of Jeno during the scheduled activity time. This activity time is normally when one or two people would join animals in their enclosure and play with them using toys and snacks, just to make sure they’re not bored. All the other animals would go to Jeno no matter what he was holding but Rodney was the first one to come to you instead.

You held a brightly colored beach ball above your head whilst standing on a shallow platform in the tank. Jeno was a couple of feet away from you holding large rings to play fetch. When Rodney came to you, you nearly froze out of shock as he circled around you in excitement.

“Babe, I think he wants the ball,” Jeno noted with a laugh when Rodney began letting out squeaks and clicks of excitement.

You tossed the ball into the air and watched as the dolphin swam after it, bumping it with his nose once it landed in the water. He brought it back to you before circling around you, telling you to do it again. You threw the ball once more, but this time at Jeno.

He let out a yelp of surprise as Rodney came speeding towards him. Rodney didn’t stay long though. The moment he got the ball, he returned back to you. “Kind of like having a dog, isn’t it?” Jeno commented, watching you taunt Rodney with the beach ball, acting like you were going to throw it but never releasing it.

A mischievous smile spread across your face. “Kind of like dating you.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” Jeno sputtered out. “Are you calling me a dog? Or a dolphin?”

You shrugged after throwing the ball again. “I didn’t say that but sure,” Jeno was clearly unamused, “though you’re more like a dog than a dolphin.”

“If I’m a dog then what are you?” He asked while following you, walking along the platform to get closer to where Rodney was nudging the ball around.

“Your owner, I guess.” You didn’t even have to look in order to see his reaction. There was a yell then a splash that covered your wetsuit. Rodney squealed to express his amusement at the way Jeno had fallen over.

You rolled your eyes at Jeno, “get out of the water, pretty boy. Stop playing around and do your job.”

He forcefully splashed water on you, making you scoff and do the same at him. All while Rodney watched from the sidelines, squeaking and swimming in quick bursts out of excitement.

FIRST KISS

genre. fluff. friends to lovers. mutual pining. they're both shy beans. warnings. kissing. pairing. bestfriend!anton x fem!reader. wc. 1.4k. request. no. a/n. hannie my favourite anton stan happy birthday and remember i love you so much!!

FIRST KISS
FIRST KISS
FIRST KISS

“I have a really bad predicament, and you don’t have to agree to help me, but I really need help and I don’t know who else to ask.”

Anton looked up from his phone, raising an eyebrow at your anxious words. What could possibly be happening to get you this worked up?

“What is it?”

You sighed, “I’ve never had my first kiss.”

“What?” Anton was even more confused now. What did he, your best friend, have anything to do with this?

“And my best friend set me up with a blind date but I’m scared he’s going to kiss me and I don’t want to have my first kiss with someone I’ve just met.” You spilled the rest, nerves building up in the pit of your stomach.

“Can’t you just say no if he asks to kiss you? Any decent guy should know that consent is key.” Anton tsked.

“I know, I know, but—” You tugged your bottom lip between your teeth, unsure of how to word what you were trying to say.

“But?”

“But I’m scared I won’t be able to say no.” You confessed, feeling more embarrassed than you ever had in your entire life.

“Oh.” Anton was silent for a moment, “What does this have to do with me?”

“Well, I…” You took a deep breath, preparing yourself for what you were about to ask, “I was hoping you’d… be my first kiss.”

Anton looked like a deer caught in headlights. To say this was unexpected would’ve been a serious understatement. He would have more easily believed that the ocean was yellow than to think that you— his best friend (and crush)— would be asking him to be your first kiss. And for what? Because you were too scared of having it with your blind date?

“O…kay?”

“What? Really? You’re not… weirded out by it?” You asked cautiously.

Anton shook his head, “No. But why me?” Because you’ve been my crush since I was 10.

“Because… I know I can trust you.” You reasoned. It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t exactly the entire reason why you wanted to kiss him either. “And I know the likelihood of my first kiss being an amazing experience is low, but I at least don’t want it to be with someone I never wished I ever kissed.”

“And you don’t think that kissing me will be something you regret?” Anton asked skeptically.

“No.” You said honestly.

Your best friend nodded, “Okay. As long as you’re comfortable with it. I’m happy to help.” He smiled, and you could feel all of the nervousness dissipate from your body.

“Have you kissed anyone before?” You asked, sitting down on the couch next to him. He shook his head no, that cute little smile playing on his lips as he looked at you. “Really? And you don’t mind if I’m your first kiss?”

He giggled, “No. I trust you with anything, including this.”

You both stared at each other for a while, the silent question of who is going to make the first move? hanging in the air, making your stomach flurry with nerves. Anton eventually seemed to get the hint that you were far too nervous to initiate the kiss, and tentatively placed his hand on your jaw, tilting your chin up to him gently.

You couldn’t stop staring at him. Anton was beautiful, it was a well-known fact, especially to you. But you rarely had the chance to look at him this up close. Your brain shut down. You forgot how to blink or breathe or do anything but stare at him, watching as he leaned closer to you. Your eyes fluttered shut as you anticipated the contact of his lips against yours. Your hands gripped the cushion of the couch tightly, but as soon as you felt his lips first touch yours, your entire body relaxed.

You were sure this moment would live in your brain forever.

Anton’s lips tasted like coffee, slightly sweet. They were soft and plush and moulded with yours as if it was always meant to be. You found yourself falling closer to him, trying to make the kiss last for as long as possible.

You had known what to expect from this moment to a certain extent. The amount of rom-coms you had watched over the years could give anyone an idea of how to kiss someone. But you hadn’t expected it to feel this exhilarating. It was as if every nerve in your body was alight, and the only things your senses could take in was Anton.

A surge of disappointment hit you when Anton pulled away. You knew the kiss couldn’t last forever, but you wished it had been longer. You would fall right back onto Anton’s lips immediately if you had the guts to, but you didn’t want to overstep. 1 kiss was all he promised you. Everything else would go back to normal now. You were back to being his best friend. Nothing els—

“I have a crush on you.”

Fuck.

You didn’t even want to open your eyes to see his reaction. You’d much rather the ground swallow you up whole immediately. You never wanted to show your face around him again. How could you let those words slip past your lips? Were you really that brainless?

“What?”

You blinked your eyes open nervously, a very flushed Anton facing you. He looked just as confused as when you had first asked him to kiss you. You gulped, trying to think of anything to say that could possibly save you from this situation.

“I… You know what, just forget it-”

“I can’t just forget the girl I like telling me she has a crush on me too.” He said quickly, catching your arm before you could escape the room.

“What?” You blinked blankly. Your brain felt like TV static.

“I like you too. I always have…” Anton repeated shyly, eyes darting to a random spot on the wall so he didn’t have to look at you.

“Oh.”

You wished you could have thought of some smooth response to his confession, but your brain had already been struggling to function since this morning. It had almost completely shut down when you asked him to kiss you, and was in the process of logging off forever since you first felt his lips on yours.

“Are you still going on the blind date?”

“Should I?” You asked lamely.

“No.”

Another silence fell over the room, swirling together with the million unanswered questions you had. Neither you nor Anton had the confidence to speak again, and you were left to sit in silence, exchanging eye contact discreetly for several minutes. When the silence felt like it was starting to swallow you whole, you finally found the courage to clear your throat and ask him another question.

“Then, can I kiss you again?”

You expected some hesitation from Anton. You weren’t sure why, given that he had just confessed he liked you too, but some part of your brain was convincing enough to make you think that maybe he didn’t feel as eager as you did to continue the kiss.

He was clearly just as eager as you were, though. You barely had time to gauge his reaction before he was pressing his lips to yours again. You felt him sigh in content, completely melting against you and your soft lips. In Anton’s mind, this was the definition of bliss. The girl he had liked for so long finally kissing him. When he pulled away, there was only 1 question that Anton had on his mind.

“Can I be your boyfriend?” He whispered, lips still close to yours, enough that you could feel his breath on your skin. The start of a smile formed on your lips.

“Yes.”

The words barely left your mouth before Anton’s lips found their place on yours again. Now that he was yours, there was nothing he’d rather do than kiss you all day, memorising the feeling of the lips he had dreamed of tasting for years.

He regretted not confessing to you sooner. If this was what he had been missing out on, he would have mustered up the courage to tell you when you were still in high school. But, regardless, he was proud that he was your first kiss. He had always wanted you to be the first person he kissed, which was why he always rejected any girl who confessed to him. His eyes had only ever been on you for years. Now that he found his place, lips intertwined with yours, he felt that the moment couldn’t have possibly been more perfect.

Summary: All You Want Is To Confess To Your Best Friend, But That's Easier In Theory Than In Practice.

Sitting by the stream, your thoughts swirl in your mind and let out a deep sigh. The day has not gone how you wanted it to. The week has not gone the way you wanted it to. You’d planned to spend the day with your best friend, but he had some things he needed to do, which caused him to cancel at the last minute. He had refused to tell you what exactly he needed to do, you assumed some kind of wind fairy duties, which you honestly knew nothing about being a water fairy yourself. The grove you all lived in was separated into little groups based on the type of fairy. Water fairies lived in a little community on the edge of the river, nests made of seaweed and reeds, adorned with shells and whatever other shiny things your kind could find.

Your best friend was a wind fairy named Jongho, an annoying little thing with a snarky personality. In fact, when you first met, you didn’t like him much. He had a way of telling jokes with a deadpan expression, making people unsure if he was being serious or not. He hadn’t let you dislike him for long, pushing his way into your life seamlessly. And in your heart. Unfortunately, you had fallen in love with the smug bastard. He was such a beautiful being, and he knew it. Most times, he didn’t let on just how much he knew his looks were otherworldly. Though, there were times when a smirk would grace his flawless face when he was complimented. And his personality, when he wasn’t being annoying, he was the sweetest. Always bringing you new shiny trinkets to put in your nest when he found them, brightening your day in any way he could. You had decided today would be the day, today you would tell your best friend that you loved him. Before he canceled at least.

Which brings you to where you are now, sitting on the edge of your favorite stream, thinking of all the ways you could possibly tell him. Th small leaf you were perched on bounced with the wind as your thoughts swirled. You could bring him a trinket, though you didn't know what kind you would bring to a wind fairy. “This is your sad spot, what’s wrong?” The voice came from behind you made your head whip around, seeing the object of your thoughts floating behind you, wings glimmering in the sunshine. His face holds concern and it brings a smile to your face at the obvious care he has for you, even if it is platonic. You call him over with a wave of your hand, and he joins you on the rock you’re sitting on, his hand landing on top of the one planted beside your thigh.

“I’m not sad, just thinking.” Your voice is almost a whisper as you flash him another smile. He returns the gesture and it’s one of the brightest smiles you’ve seen him have. He quickly looked down, though, seemingly getting shy out of nowhere. He doesn’t reply immediately, but he lifts his gaze to the stream in front of you. A ghost of the smile returns as he looks toward you. “Watch this.” His voice is barely audible, his hand gesturing to the water. You give a little nod and turn your head to see what he has planned. You watch the water for a moment, nothing really happening. All at once, the wind begins to blow over the water, a small whirlwind forming over the water, sucking the liquid up, causing it to swirl around within the wind. “I’ve been learning how to do this for a few days. I wanted it to be perfect before I showed it to you.” Your eyes fill with tears that you refuse to shed. It’s such a beautiful scene, and a very Jongho thing to do. The man always had to have everything perfect.

You opened your mouth to tell him how beautiful his little trick was, but he spoke before you could. “I also brought you something.” You tilted your head as you looked at him, the nerves written all over his handsome face. He reaches into his pocket and digs around as he looks for whatever he plans to give you. You turn your body toward him fully, taking in his side profile. You watch as he takes a deep breath before turning to face you, his hands in his lap as he fumbles with something. “I found this about a week ago. It’s really pretty and I was waiting for the perfect time to give it to you. It’s for your nest.” He extends his closed fist and opens his hand, a small object laying in his palm. You reach to grab his hand, lifting the present.

It was a ring, the most beautiful ring. It had a light blue gem with swirls of green with a shiny silver band. It looked like water. It was small enough to fit your tiny finger, and you weren't sure how he had found something so small. The trinkets he always brought you were obviously made for the humans. The tears filled your eyes again, this time you were unable to stop them from falling. Your heart swelled with love for the man in front of you. You didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with him, but this moment proved you wrong. You moved your eyes from the ring to meet Jongho’s, his face barely visible through the glassiness of your tears. “Jongho, it’s beautiful. The most beautiful.” Your voice quivered with emotion as you spoke and you reached out to grab his hand. “I just wanted you to have something as beautiful as you are, though I still don’t think it comes close.” You could see the blush tingeing his cheeks red as he lowered his head.

Reaching out, you grabbed his face and turned his head back to face you. You rubbed your thumbs across his cheeks, smiling widely as you did so. “Thank you, Jongho.” You moved your face closer, resting your forehead against his. “It’ll be really pretty in your nest.” If you hadn’t been so close, you wouldn’t have heard him. You pulled back, shaking your head slightly and lifting your hand toward him. “No, it’s too pretty for my nest. I want you to put it on for me.” You watched as his eyes widened as he looked at you in confusion. You thrust your hand toward him slightly, smiling again and nodding your head at the ring. It felt like slow motion as he took the ring from you and moved to slide it on the index finger of your left hand. You tilted your hand so that your ring finger was in front of the ring.

His brow furrowed in confusion as he looked up at you. “What are you doing? That’s the finger for a pairing.” Making sure your eyes met his, you nodded, your eyes never leaving his as you spoke. “I love you, Jongho.” Your voice was sure and unfaltering, eyes flickering between his, waiting for a response. Shock ran across his face, taking in what you had just said. The longer he was silent, the more your confidence wavered. You moved to pull your hand back, embarrassment pumping through your veins. Before you could fully retract your hand, his grip tightened. His eyes stared at yours as he slipped the ring onto your finger, before lifting your hand to press a kiss to the back. “I love you, too. Always have.” The ring fit perfectly around your finger and you were sure it wasn't a coincidence, but that was a question you'd ask him another day. A smile lit up his face as his turn to watch your eyes widen came. He let out a small giggle, eyes crinkling. You both leaned forward at the same time, meeting in the middle for a small, but sweet peck. Pulling away, you shared shy giggles, despite knowing each other for years. “I guess this makes us a pairing, huh?” He pressed a kiss to your cheek as you both turned to stare at the stream in front of you. Your day may not have started the way you wanted it to, but it certainly had the perfect ending.

: If We Were In A Drama | Pjs

summary | as always, you and your friend, jisung, plan a sleepover to begin a new drama together. and, as always, you have to pause halfway through the second episode so you can go through your new-drama-ritual.

genre | park jisung x reader, friends-but-not-friends in the romantic way, fluff

wc | 1.1k

a/n: rn i’m really into the whole you’re more than friends but not dating trope…also does anyone else do this when they watch dramas

: If We Were In A Drama | Pjs

GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY, you were sure Jisung would kill you right now. He would rip your phone out of your hands, throw it against the wall, and push you off his seventh-story balcony.

“Googling it spoils it for me too, you know!” he exclaimed, reaching for your phone as best he could. You jerked your hand back, rolling over onto your stomach and half-dangling off the bed. With a sigh, he gave up on his conquest, but that didn’t cease his complaining. “I mean, come on, who googles the first-kiss episode every single time they watch a drama?”

“Me, I do,” you said, frantically typing ‘when do they kiss’ into the search bar, followed by the name of the drama. Instantly, several YouTube videos and articles popped up, each with ‘kiss scene’ in the title. “Aha! Episode—”

“Shut up!” Jisung exclaimed, wrapping his arms around your waist. With a tug, you were sitting up on the bed again, pressed up against his chest. You mumbled a string of incoherencies, wrenching yourself from his grasp and turning to face him.

“I don’t see your issue. I mean, it’s not like the kiss episode spoils the plot or anything, so why lose your mind? It’s setting a precedent, a goal to achieve before we stop watching and go to bed,” you argued, frowning. He gave you an unimpressed look, rolling his eyes. You scoffed, crossing your arms. “Plus, the timing of the kiss scene is important. I mean, nobody wants to see one two episodes in, but nobody wants to wait for ten episodes. Right?”

“Right, okay, but wouldn’t you rather be surprised?”

“No, because I’ll be disappointed when the perfect-kiss-threshold passes and no kissing has happened yet. I need to know if this’ll be worth my time.”

“Oh yeah? When’s the perfect-kiss-threshold?”

“End of episode six to episode eight, obviously. Any earlier and things are no fun, and any later and things are boring,” you replied, talking as if this was some sort of scholarly information and that everybody should know your opinions on the pacing of dramas.

Jisung stared at you for a moment, a small smile forming on his face. His cheeks began to tinge a red color, and his ears were bright red, but that didn’t stop him from reaching for his goal.

“So, if we were in a drama, when would our kiss scene be?”

Ignoring the implications of the question, mostly for the sake of avoiding melting into a puddle of lovey-dovey-ness, you took it more seriously and genuinely contemplated it.

“Well, assuming you’d ever measure up to be the main male lead,” you mused, tapping your chin a couple of times. “I think we’d pass the threshold. God, we probably wouldn’t kiss until, like, eleven or twelve. We’d have a terribly boring drama.”

Jisung seemed appalled at your answer, maybe even a bit offended. “Seriously? What gives you that impression?”

Before you could stop yourself, you answered, “I mean, look at our relationship now.”

“What about it?”

“Are you kidding me? We’ve done just about every couple thing other than kiss. We go grocery shopping together, we hold hands whenever we walk anywhere together, we watch dramas and cuddle up together for hours at a time. We’d be the drama couple that goes fast but doesn’t want to admit it. The type to act like a married couple before we even called each other boyfriend and girlfriend.”

God, you wished you could keep your mouth shut. The moment you finished your tangent, you could feel your cheeks burning up, and you could see Jisung blushing even worse than before. He reached up and scratched his neck as if he was unsure how to respond to your slightly-too-real analysis of your relationship.

He shuffled around on the bed, returning to his position under the covers with his back against pillows propped up by the headboard. You stared at him for a second, loathing the silence between you before you did the same, feeling a sudden awkwardness with being near him.

“I mean, did you want to be boyfriend and girlfriend? Because, like, I’m not opposed, but…”

“I dunno, it’s kinda fun just being us, labelless and happy. Right? A couple of friends, pretending like they do normal friend things on a daily basis.”

Jisung slung an arm over your shoulder, pulling you closer to him. You leaned your head on his shoulder, cuddling up against his side and feeling comfortable in his warmth. “I mean, a kiss carries a lot of meaning. A lot of commitment.”

“No, you’re right. We’d have to be, like, really sure if we were gonna go that far,” Jisung agreed, flinching slightly when you wrapped your hands around his waist. There was something nice about not being in a relationship but still being romantically involved with one another. Especially since you were tied up in the same friend group and would be teased to high heaven if things became official.

It made you happy, being with him and living in the moment. Never rushing, never going too fast, just being wrapped up in your togetherness.

“I think we’d make a bad drama,” you finally said, focusing on the soft-yet-nervous pattern of Jisung’s breathing. “It’d be too indecisive and slow.”

“Yeah, I think so too,” he agreed, picking up the remote that he’d put down on his bedside table. “So, what episode do they kiss?”

“Seven. Right in the middle of the threshold,” you said, a deep sense of satisfaction pooling in your stomach. You could’ve giggled out of happiness for your current situation if you were brave enough. “I think we could make it by three in the morning if we played our cards right. It’s, what, 10? Yeah, three in the morning.”

“Is that factoring in differing episode lengths?”

“No, just rough estimates.”

“Well, let’s promise that we’ll go to sleep at three,” he suggested, leaning his head atop your own. “And we’ll forget about this ever happening. Deal?”

“Absolute deal.”

Jisung pressed play on the episode, but you weren’t lost on him turning his head ever-so-slightly, planting a small kiss on your forehead to signify just a little bit of commitment. To plant a little hope that, one day, you’ll reach your episode twelve and take the full leap. But, for now, you’d watch your drama and be happy as “friends.”

ooh, smooth, “we (can) start now)” 🤭

be careful, don't fall | sung hanbin

genre: fluff

pairing: reader x sung hanbin

about/tags: clumsy reader and student nurse hanbin (700+ words)

university setting, hanbin volunteers at the school clinic, reader has no sense of balance, hopeful relationship, idk if i'm good at fluff, celebrating leader hanbin!

Be Careful, Don't Fall | Sung Hanbin

Sung Hanbin is an incredibly attentive person.

In fact, the first thing he learned about your personality is how you have zero spatial awareness. Your shoulders are bruised every other day, to which he eventually learns is from bumping into the corners of the walls and lockers. So when you became closer friends, he naturally found himself walking by your sides, placing you in the middle of the hallways – just so you no longer bruise into the wall.

The second thing Hanbin learns about you is that you’re always on your phone. Whenever you walk to classes together, he finds himself slightly guiding you in the right direction. Such as gently pushing you to the side to avoid stepping on puddles or pulling you away from the trashcan you’re about to bump into. You often call him your lifesaver, and he beams at the compliment each time.

The third thing Hanbin learns about you is that you get overly excited about everything. When you arrived at the restaurant by the university for the club meeting, you jumped out of the car too fast. You ended up hitting your head at the top of the car door, at the mere premise of food.

“Tsk tsk, slowly next time please y/n” he says as he pats and coos at your head. You giggle because he looks so serious, his eyebrows are furrowed as he’s examining the bump that’ll appear on your head. He gets ice from the restaurant and wraps it in a handkerchief, before holding it to your head.

“Again, you’re a lifesaver Hanbin” you say as you lean your head into his hands holding the ice pack. He’s smiling at you cutely, as you laugh at yourself over this predicament.

By now, Hanbin is well used to the routine of making sure you don’t hurt yourself. And while you insist that you are more careful now – Hanbin still carries bandaids, tissues, and an empty ice pack in his school bag everyday. Just in case, he thinks.

So when one day you show up at the school clinic limping, he approaches you with a face that says “what happened to being more careful huh?” But because he is Hanbin, he doesn’t actually gloat.

Instead, he sits you down on the bench, and bends down to examine your foot. Before he can ask anything, you defend yourself with an “I know, I know, I wasn’t watching where I was going and I ended up missing a step on the stairs.”

Hanbin looks up at you sympathetically and you see your own reflection in his glasses. His lips break into a thin line before saying “well thankfully, it’s not broken. It might just be a sprain.” He makes sure to smile widely, cheek dimples on full display to make you feel better about the situation. He stands up to get an ice pack and some gauze to wrap your foot with and you watch him as he busies himself getting all the supplies to fix you right up.

When he has what he needs, he bends down again and lifts your foot for elevation, asking you to hold the ice pack to your ankle. In that moment, he notices that you skinned your knee as well. “Y/n you’re bleeding” – he rushes up to get some cloth, water and iodine. When he gets back to you, he blows gently on your wound before dabbing the medicine on it. You hiss, and your leg spasms slightly.

“Stop moving, it’ll hurt less that way”. He continues to blow on your knee, allowing cool air to relieve the sensation of pain. Though it’s supposed to be painful, you smile softly at a gentle Hanbin who looks so focused on the injuries you caused yourself. He catches you staring at him, and looks right back up at you.

“I should really be more careful huh....” you begin.

Hanbin isn’t thinking, isn’t thinking at all when he tucks the strand of hair that fell from your face. Your breath hitches, your heartbeat picks up its pace, and your cheeks start to pink.

“yeah, or maybe just hold my hand so you don’t fall as often.”

There’s a silence, a beat, before you respond with “I’d like that. I'd like to hold your hand often” Even though his ears are bright red, he bravely takes your hand in his. “Okay, we start now” he says it less like a question and more like a fact.

"Okay, starting now" you repeat, interlocking your fingers together. You watch as Hanbin's eyes smile before his lips are able to catch up, and he tightens his grip around your hand before helping you up. He brings his arm around your waist, supporting you as you both walk out the clinic together.

After that day, he learns something about himself this time – that he really, truly, likes you.

Fantasy has always enamoured you. The blazing dragons of the sky, the glinting swords of knights, and the soft pastels of elaborate ball gowns never failed to send you into a dreamy haze. It was the longing for a life you knew you couldn’t have, the sweetest of romances between forbidden parties, the thrilling action that had you gripping the book so tightly, it was a wonder its spine didn’t split into half.

In fact, you were so immersed in the story of the princess and the knight that you hadn’t even realized your powers had gotten the better of you. Vines snaked up the walls and ceilings, crawling out of your room and into the hallway. Small wildflowers blossomed by your nightstand, but you had yet to notice.

You let out a breathy laugh as you rolled over on your bed, not once ripping your gaze from the inked words, drowning in your thick woolen blanket. With this action, leaves sprouted from the vines and criss-crossed over your bed. Within minutes, your room started looking more like a forest than a place of slumber.

Finding your nose buried between the pages of a book far too thick for his liking wasn’t an uncommon feat for Hongjoong. Finding his laptop shrouded with greenery and roses, however, was not. His narrowed gaze traced over the vines leading out of his own sanctuary and into the hallway, confirming his suspicions by twisting right into your bedroom.

He pushed away from his work desk with an amused sigh, careful to sidestep the plum-hued orchids in the midst of fluorescence by his feet.

“You have a peculiar way of luring people into bed with you,” Hongjoong murmured once he ducked under the canopy of leaves decorating your doorway. “While I appreciate the flowers, I do have a paper to finish.”

In an instant, your irises snapped away from the worn pages of your book, finding solace in your roommate’s entertained gaze. It took you a second to realize the repercussions of your slipping reign over your powers. The green was hard to miss, after all.

“I am so sorry.” Your voice came out far smaller than you intended it to, but you slanted your lips into an apologetic smile to make up for it. “I didn’t realize.”

Hongjoong shrugged it off lightly, a smile of his own playing at the corner of his lips. It relieved you to see that he wasn’t actually mad. He meandered over the foliage and sat beside you on the bed, raising an eyebrow at your book. “So you didn’t send me those flowers on purpose? I’m offended.” A faux gasp of indignation escaped his lungs, but ultimately betrayed by a striking grin.

With a scoff, you nudged at his shoulder with your own. You placed a bookmark (also your receipt from your last grocery run with Hongjoong) where you left off and pushed the story to the side. Bringing both your palms together, you conjured a singular, minuscule canary buttercup, its petals falling soft against your fingers. Hongjoong watched in muted awe. Nimbly, you slotted the flower behind his ear, smoothing your thumbs over his faded clementine hair, trailing over his cheek. He shut his eyes at your gentle touch.

Had you gone too far for a roommate? Your fingers curled in on themself, and you reluctantly pulled your hand away.

Hongjoong seemed mildly disappointed when your warmth retracted, but he cleared his throat and the twinkle in his eye came back just as quickly as it disappeared.

“There. You happy now?”

“It’s small.”

“Seems fitting,” you teased.

Hongjoong shot you a spineless glare. “Don’t even start.” He looked oh so pretty with that flower behind his ear. He was also pretty without the sweet blossom, but you weren’t quite sure you were ready to admit that to yourself just yet. The both of you fell into a comfortable silence before he spoke up once more. “You know, the paper can wait. That book must be pretty good to make you lose this much control.”

A warm flush spidered through your skin, and you reached over to grab at the frayed book once again. “You want me to read a bit to you?”

“Nothing would be better,” Hongjoong quipped as he laid down, sinking into your plush pillows, inhaling your fresh fougere scent and enjoying this moment a little more than he should’ve.
