Caution! adult language, food mentions, some suggestive jokes here and there, Minho can be quite mean at parts, a lot of calling the reader dumb (affectionate). some 2nd lead syndrome. (please do not hate me for this)

Synopsis: Upon seeing you pining after Bang Chan, Minho takes the matters into his own hands. It’s simultaneously the best and worst decision he has ever made.

“You know, I’m sure just you staring at him from afar makes the whole difference,” Minho pointed out with a sarcastic roll of his eyes. He stole a fry off of Jeongin’s plate as though he couldn’t feel your glare on him.

You weren’t entirely sure why he was sitting at the same table as you anyway. You certainly hadn’t invited him and his snarky attitude.

“Let her be,” Hyunjin meekly defended, as though he was only doing it out of duty rather than his actual loyalty for you. “She’s in love. She can’t help it.”

this is based on the shrimp peeling/perilla leaf discourse.

seungcheol: when he notices his friend peeling a shrimp and dropping it onto your plate as if it was nothing, his eyes grow wide. he lets out a loud scoff then looks at his friend. “why are you trying to steal my job, do you think i’m not capable of peeling a shrimp?” his friend panics then tries to defend himself, “i figured since i’m already peeling them i might as well just do it for all of us. no need to get all of our hands dirty.” seungcheol picks up his chopsticks then reaches for the shrimp on your plate to place it back onto his friend's. “you can have this back, if y/n wants them i can peel them.” he ends up sulking for the rest of the meal and you end up being the one peeling shrimps for him instead.

jeonghan: a chuckle escapes him when he sees you eyeing the shrimp sitting on your plate, unsure if you should give it back to his friend or not. don't get him wrong, he finds nothing about this situation funny but he thinks it's laughable that his friend thinks he would be okay with something like this. he quickly switches his own empty plate with yours. looking at his friend in his eyes, he plops the shrimp into his mouth before saying, “thanks for peeling the shrimp for me.” he then turns to you to tell you not to just accept food from anyone else and then he's filling your plate up with food.

joshua: before his friend even has the chance to place the peeled shrimp on your plate, joshua is immediately intercepting. he quickly places a hand on your arm to get your attention. “do you want shrimps? i can peel them for you. how many do you want?” his friend is now munching on the shrimp, finding himself in a slightly awkward position. you tell joshua you're fine and you can peel them yourself but he insists and suddenly there's 10 shrimps on your plate and joshua’s plate is filled with shells.

warning: meltdown/depressive episode

“what is it?” chan’s voice was quiet as he intently watched you trying to form a sentence. you sighed with resignation, leaning on the countertop.

“it’s just...” you started hesitantly, not fully sure what you wanted to say. “nothing makes sense anymore.” chan nodded, not daring to interrupt you. you thought about your next words for a moment, trying to desperately put together your next sentence. shaking your head, you whined and the tears slowly started to form in the corners of your eyes. you blinked a few times.

“it’s like... chaos broke out around me and i’m standing in the very middle of it,” you whispered the last few words, dropping your head so that chan couldn’t see as you break apart. you dropped to the floor and he didn’t waste any time, rushing to your trembling figure and engulfing you in a tight embrace.

“i-i don’t think i can handle all of it on my shoulders, i just can’t do this anymore,” you sobbed, feeling the world around you collapse. your life felt like a blur, pain constantly blooming in your chest, and you started to lose hope that the future even existed for you.

“is there anything i can do for you?” chan asked in the quietest voice, scared that if he spoke any louder you would simply fall apart in his arms. he hated to see you like this. it was unfair that someone like you was struggling and hurting so much and he swore he would’ve taken all of your pain on his back if only it meant you would finally be happy.

you shook your head, silently letting him know that, in fact, there was nothing he could’ve done. he nodded in understanding, though his heart ached at the mere thought of you suffering like this any more. he hugged you even tighter, placing a gentle kiss on your temple.

“i won’t leave you alone, yeah? i’ll guide you through this chaos,” chan whispered, taking your hand in his and squeezing it reassuringly. he was ready to sacrifice himself for you to be happy again.
