Coding [georgenotfound]

coding [georgenotfound]

pairing: georgenotfound x gn!reader

pronouns: they/them

synopsis: you're struggling to pass your simple coding course, while he happens to be a coding master.

wc: 1.6k

a/n: got inspired by all the dt content we got today!

tw: swearing, school

“y/n, i’d like to speak with you after class.” the words no student ever wants to hear. you forced a smile, nodding to your teacher who looked mildly disappointed in your abilities, or in your case, lack thereof.

if only you hadn’t been late to school on the day you were meant to sign up for courses, maybe you would’ve gotten into the courses you’d actually be good at. unfortunately for you, the odds were not in your favour, and you’d ended up in the last class you wanted to take. computer science.

it wasn’t to say the class wasn’t interesting, no, it was. it just wasn’t your forte. coding and scripting, all of the combinations you should know seemed to jumble together, and you couldn’t write a basic program. easy to say, you were failing. hence why you were hanging back by the teacher’s desk as your peers filed out of the room.

“y/n, i’m sure you’re aware as to why you’re here.” your teacher spoke, and you sighed, nodding. he pinched his noise in slight frustration, pausing for a moment before returning his gaze to you. “i know you’re a good student. excelling in every course, except this one. mind filling me in on why?”

you shuffled under his pressing gaze, swallowing hard. “i try, i really do. it just.. doesn’t make sense to me. at all.” you admitted, rubbing your arm in an attempt to calm yourself from the stress-inducing situation.

“have you considered switching courses?” he asked, kindly. he wasn’t one of those dreadful i-hate-kids-why-did-i-become-a-teacher sort of instructor, moreso the kind that would checkup on students, freely give extensions, and genuinely enjoys his job.

“all other classes during this period are full.” you explained, and he sighed, eyes glancing to his monitor screen, where an open copy of one of your previous assignments laid.

“i’m going to be honest with you, y/n. if you keep submitting work like this, i’m going to have no choice but to fail you. you didn’t even attempt half the questions. i know you’re struggling, but i want to help you get through this course, without ruining your gpa too much.” he spoke softly, and you inhaled shakily, the realization of failure dawning on you. your teacher noticed, standing up and placing a comforting hand on your shoulder.

“i’ve made up an easier version of this assignment. if you can get through it, i’ll replace the grade of your first assignment with this one, and it’ll raise your grade significantly.” he handed you a paper with instructions, and you gulped as you skimmed through, knowing you likely wouldn’t be able to do any of this. “i can’t help you with it, but i also can’t stop you from getting other help, should you need it.” he winked, and dismissed you. you thanked him, gathering your things and leaving, heading straight for the library.

you huffed, sitting down at one of the many school computers and logged in, bringing up the necessary programs. you ended up typing in random sequences you remembered from class, and sighed when you reread your work, completely unsure of whether what you were doing was even close to right. you groaned quietly, placing your head in your hands.

“uh, excuse me?” a voice called from behind you, and you turned, quirking a brow in question. “is this computer taken? all the other ones are full.” he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. you glanced around, seeing the other computers were, in fact, taken.

“it’s not taken, you can sit.” you smiled, grabbing the pile of your things you’d placed in front of said computer and placing them on the ground by your feet. he thanked you, sitting down and logging into his own account.

the two of you didn’t talk after that, simply tuning into your respective screens. you continued fumbling with various codes, eventually getting frustrated. clearly you weren’t hiding it well, because the boy next to you looked at you strangely, before deciding to mind his business and leave you be.

once you decided enough was enough, you leaned back into the hard plastic chair, stretching your arms. your eyes glanced over to the screen of the boy next to you, and you gasped, eyes wide. you caught his attention, him turning to see what caused your sudden surprise. he didn’t expect you to be looking at his screen.

you leaned forward, swiftly turning his monitor to face you, eyes dancing over the hundreds of words in the language of code on his screen. “holy shit, this is insane!” you whispered, and he flushed, embarrassed by your sudden compliment.

“uh, thanks?” he muttered, running a hand through his messy brown hair. you blinked, suddenly hyper-aware of how strange you must sound at that moment, and retracted back into your seat, clearing your throat.

“i, uh.” you stuttered, and then sighed, offering him an awkward smile. “sorry, uh. it’s just i’m taking computer science, well, failing computer science, actually.” you frowned, gesturing to your screen, before continuing. “but anyways, nothing we do is like this! you must be really advanced.”

he gave you a look you didn't quite recognize, but you blinked and his expression was understanding, so you brushed it off. “i’m not that good..” he shrugged, and you gaped at him, unbelieving.

“seriously? that looks sick! not that i know what any of it means, or does, but..” you chuckled, and he smiled kindly at you.

“well, i guess i know a thing or two.” he explained modestly, and your eyes lit up, hope flooding your body.

“i know we just met, and we don’t really know eachother, but could you help me with my assignment? i really need to get a good grade on it, or i’ll fail the course and ruin my gpa. you’d be doing me a huge favour?” you asked, practically begging. he smiled, nodding. you quickly turned your monitor towards him, and showed him the assignment.

he skimmed through the page, glancing up at your screen and back down, before nodding to himself. “seems easy enough. you just start by…”

not only did he manage to help you through your assignment, but you actually learned a thing or two from him. you quickly saved and emailed the file to your professor, slumping back in your seat in pure relief. the boy next to you chuckled, and it was then that you realized, you didn’t even know his name.

“thank you so much, uh..” you hesitated, subtly hinting for him to bring up his name. he chuckled, shaking his head lightly.

“so it takes doing a whole assignment together for you to ask for someone’s name. interesting.” he teased, and you mockingly gasped, throwing a hand over your heart dramatically. “it’s george, by the way.” he added, winking as he saved his work and logged off his monitor.

“y/n.” you said, and he nodded, gathering his things. “seriously though, george. you saved my ass. i owe you.” you smiled, genuinely, and he returned it.

“don’t mention it.” he scratched the back of his neck once more, before bidding you goodbye. you smiled as you watched his retreating figure, shaking your head with a smile and logging off the monitor, heading home for the day.

the next day flew by, and finally your last period rolled around, and for the first time, you walked into the computer science room with a smile on your face. you walked over to the teacher’s desk, waiting for him to finish with another student. you glanced around the room as you waited, your eyes falling upon a familiar head of fluffy brown hair. “george?” you whispered to yourself, but your teacher calling your name brought you out of your thoughts, and you tuned into the conversation.

“y/n, this is excellent work! i’m happy to say this will boost your mask well into passing.” he whispered excitedly, and you smiled proudly.

“i can’t take all the credit sir, i had someone very talented help me with it.” you admitted, slightly raising your voice so that a certain someone would hear it. he did, it seemed, from the way you noticed he straightened in his seat out of the corner of your eye. you chatted for a bit longer, before you were dismissed so he could help another student.

rather than sitting in your usual corner by yourself, you sauntered over to where your saviour sat, tapping him gently on the shoulder, catching his attention. “uh, excuse me. is this computer taken?” you mocked his previous introduction, and he swiveled around, sending you a glare.

“yes, actually. it is.” he fired back sassily, and you deflated a little, glancing somewhere else. however, when your gaze moved back to the boy in front of you, you spotted the devious smirk that littered his lips.

“you’re an ass.” you muttered, pulling out the chair and seating yourself next to him.

“you’re the one who asked me to sit.” he argued, shrugging and turning his attention to the monitor in front of him. you didn’t speak again, mimicking his actions with a growing smile. you were tackling a much easier assignment than george, but for the first time ever, you understood what was being asked, and if you didn’t, luckily you had a very smart peer sitting right by your side.

suddenly, you felt like maybe taking computer science wouldn’t be so bad after all.

[bonus]

dream came barreling down the hallway, huffing as he stepped foot into the classroom, offering a sheepish grin to his teacher, who simply shook his head at his tardiness. dream stepped towards his usual spot, but paused upon seeing his regular seat was occupied.

maybe he would’ve said something had he not watched george whisper in their ear and send them into a fit of giggles, but he decided today, he could simply sit somewhere else.

and tease the shit out of george later.

forever & always [reggie]

word count: 1.2k

pairing: reggie peters x fem!reader

warnings: pure angst. there's no happy ending.

a/n: i just finished jatp this morning and was feeling angsty so here u go. also haven't written anything in months so pls be nice !

request: n/a

-

25 years. that’s how long they’d sat in the black abyss, nothing but the sound of alex’s cries filling the void they’d known as death. reggie couldn’t believe it. he should be worried about his afterlife, he knows that, but only one thing was on his mind. her.

y/n. the girl he was set on marrying. he hadn’t proposed yet, of course - they were only 17. still, he was sure she was the one. after everything they’d been through, he couldn’t see himself being with anyone else. they were each other’s, completely. and they were supposed to have their entire lives together.

that night, she was waiting at the venue for his return - at the orpheum. of course she was there, she was always his biggest cheerleader. the thought brought tears to his eyes. his precious y/n had to live 25 years without him - and the worst part was that she probably moved on.

the thought of her with someone else made him feel like he was dying all over again, but he had to know. for his sanity, he just had to make sure she was okay.

he waited until he could sneak away unnoticed, and to his luck, luke had snuck off to visit his parents and alex had left to go hang out with willy - leaving him alone. he sucked in a breath, attempting to calm himself before teleporting outside of her old place.

much to his delight, it hadn’t changed all that much from what he’d known it to be, aside from a few additional paint scratches here and there. his eyes took in every inch of the familiar scene, though a light on in one of the top floor windows caught his attention. though normally he would find it rude to intrude, his mind was clouded with the thought of her, and her only.

teleporting into the room without a second thought, he felt tears spring to his eyes. there she was, in all her beauty. y/n. his y/n. only an older version of the girl he loved. a sharp pang washed over him at the realization that this was what his future was supposed to be, with her. the one he’d never get to experience.

she looked so content, gently bobbing her head to the music playing from her laptop as she folded some laundry. even through blurred tears, he couldn’t help but watch her in pure awe. only she could make such a mundane task look so appealing.

a sudden idea popped into his head, and before he could think logically, he walked over to the computer and pulled up a performance on youtube of julie and the phantoms. she was far too distracted to notice, until the song she was listening to abruptly changed to something she didn’t recognize.

reggie watched her sit up straighter, the confusion evident on her face. he watched as she glanced around the room, before turning to the computer screen. her eyes danced over the title of the video, and she mouthed the words as she read. reggie smiled at this - it was an old habit of hers, and it brought him comfort. some things really never change.

she pulled out the desk chair, pausing to watch the video, her curiosity clearly sparked. reggie watched anxiously as julie’s solo came to an end, cueing the arrival of the three boys she once knew.

he held his breath as he flashed onto the screen, and he watched as she instantly tensed, her hand flying to the spacebar to pause the video. she furiously rubbed her already teary eyes, swallowing hard as she studied the screen in front of her.

“regg?” her voice broke, and another jolt hit his heart. he reached out, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder, even if she couldn’t feel it. at contact, however, he felt her shiver, and immediately sit up straight. she hesitantly turned her head, and looked right at him. or rather, right through him. somehow though, he knew, she knew he was there.

“reggie?” her voice was softer now, almost inaudible. “are you there?” reggie nodded, attempting to wipe away the tears falling down her cheeks - only for his hand to pass right through her body. he sighed, looking around for something he could use to tell her he was there.

his eyes widened when he looked back to the computer, quickly reaching over and typing into the youtube search bar the words ‘sunset curve’.

a sob escaped her lips, slipping out of the chair and onto her knees on the hardwood floor. reggie couldn’t bear the sight anymore, and slid down next to her, wrapping his arms around her tightly.

he could’ve sworn she felt his presence, because in the next second her hand was grasped on her arm directly where his was placed a moment prior. it was only a few minutes later when he noticed she was mumbling.

“why’d you have to eat that stupid hotdog, regg? why? it’s not fair. you died so young, and you left me. why’d you have to leave me?” her words were jumbled and mixed with the hot tears, but every word reggie heard loud and clear. each was like a fresh stab to the heart, because she was right - he left her and the life they had behind. it wasn’t his choice, of course. but it didn’t mean it hurt any less.

an idea occurred to him, and he quickly teleported back to the garage, grabbing a pen and a piece of paper. he quickly scribbled a note and jumped back, unsurprisingly seeing her in the same position as before, though her tears had slowed slightly. he gently slid the note in front of her, watching as she looked up, and shakily pulled it towards her. she sighed, before beginning to read it out loud.

“dear y/n,

i’m sorry. i wish things had gone differently - we all do.

i want you to know it’s okay. i’m okay. i’m with the guys still - luke and alex - that is. you probably knew that. you also know i’m not great with words.

we joined a new band - julie and the phantoms. the group i played for you. it’s so strange - when we play, people can see us! but when we stop, we’re invisible. isn’t that crazy?”

she laughed at this, and shook her head. reggie smiled, desperately trying to permanently imprint the sound in his mind.

“anyways, enough of my rambling. please remember i am so proud of you angel. never stop being you, for my sake if anything.

i love you. you and me, forever and always.

love, reggie”

he watched as she clung to the letter, a sad smile on her face as she lifted her gaze directly towards him. “forever and always, reg.” she whispered, and he choked out a sob, repeating the words back to her.

he stood, looking down at her one final time before coming to terms with the fact he couldn’t see her again. it physically hurt him to be near her, knowing this is everything he had wanted in his life that he would never get the chance of having. he leaned down, leaving one last lingering kiss on her forehead before he turned and muttered the dreaded words. “goodbye, y/n.”

and with that, he left behind the woman he so dearly loved.

only just missing her whisper back a small “goodbye, reggie.” in return.

puzzles [dreamwastaken]

pairing: dreamwastaken x gn!reader

pronouns: they/them (none mentioned)

synopsis: two puzzle pieces slot together to form the beautiful picture that is love, until they don't.

wc: 1.3k

a/n: i have no idea what this is or what i was trying to accomplish with this but my brain said dream angst brainrot and i haven't posted in a bit so here u go!

tw: one swear maybe? angst, that is all.

think of two connecting puzzle pieces.

originally, they slotted together perfectly. no force, nor wiggling was required to connect the two, as they were made to be placed together.

as time went on, and the pieces were connected time and time again, the edges began to wear down. they began to come undone at the ends, but still, the pieces fit together well enough to keep the puzzle whole.

eventually though, the bit that slotted the two together broke off, leaving two single pieces. there was no longer a connection between the two, and the picture they created would be forever unfinished.

over time, you’d learn to think of your relationship as this puzzle.

before you met him, you’d known there was something missing in your life. your matching piece. and then he walked right into your life, quite literally.

headphones blasting in your ears, you hummed along to the song as you swapped your books for your next class. you gently bounced your head to the beat, completely lost in your thoughts. which is likely why when you finally closed your locker and stepped in the direction of your classroom, you were hit with a sheer force that sent you and your books flying towards the ground.

an arm quickly shot out, wrapping around your waist and catching you in astounding reflex. you opened your eyes, which you’d shut in pure shock, and looked into the most beautiful green eyes and softest-looking dirty blonde hair you’d ever seen. “shit - are you okay?” he asked, and you almost choked at how soft his voice was.

“yeah. yeah, i’m okay.” you managed, and the two of you stood in that position for a brief moment, simply looking at each other, before you cleared your throat and he flushed, letting you go. “sorry, i wasn’t watching where i was going.” you apologized, and he shook his head.

“no, it was totally my fault. my name’s clay, but everyone calls me dream. what’s yours?” he flashed you a charming smile, and that’s all it took. you were totally his.

maybe it was cliche to say that it was fate that he’d crashed into you on that ordinary day in your freshman year. you’d wholeheartedly believed it though, because that boy changed your life. he was the piece you’d been missing all along.

“hey dream! hey y/n!” sapnap greeted, and you smiled, returning the gesture. dream’s arm was steadily wrapped around your waist as always, and you leaned into his side as the boys launched into some discussion about sports you really had no interest in tuning into.

from the day you’d been so abruptly crashed into, you and he were inseparable. you instantly became “the power couple” according to the whispers in the halls (whatever that meant), but you didn’t care for the gossip. you didn’t care what people thought of you as long as you had him. he made you feel special, like a better version of yourself.

as though he read your thoughts, he tightened his grip on your waist, glancing down at you with that boyish smile of his. and everything was perfect.

just when you felt complete, when the picture you’d formed with dream was ready to be framed and set in stone, senior year rolled around.

with the weight of pending college applications and ap classes, you were finding yourself constantly drowning in work. meanwhile, dream was focused on his sports, for the most part. he was relying on his exceeding football skills for scholarships and you both understood the gravity of each other's endeavors, and you promised that no matter how busy, you’d make time for each other.

it started with every weekend, both saturday and sunday, you both set aside time to spend with each other. a few weeks later, it became one day or the other. a few weeks after that, it became every other weekend.

before you knew it, you and dream hardly saw each other. lunch was probably the longest time you’d spend in the same room, and sometimes even then he had a team meeting, or you’d be studying in the library.

the edges of your pieces were wearing thin.

“what do you mean you’re leaving?” his voice broke, and you frowned, tears welling in your eyes at the sight of the brokenhearted boy in front of you. you sighed, reaching out and grabbing his hands in your own, gingerly placing soft kisses on his knuckles.

“i got into my top school, dream. you know how hard i’ve been working for this.” your soft voice came out much sadder than you’d hoped - you wanted to stay strong for him. you really did. he sighed, nodding halfheartedly. he opened his arms for you, and you walked in gratefully accepting his embrace.

“we’ll figure this out. we’ll make it work.” he mumbled, and you nodded against his chest. at that moment, you truly believed he was right, and that you would make it through this. you could only hope.

four months of facetime calls and lonely nights, your relationship was holding on by mere threads.

“i miss you.” you muttered, and he only nodded, his focus somewhere else, probably editing. you frowned, but said nothing. recently, he dropped out of his schooling to pursue youtube full-time, and he was doing surprisingly well for himself. you didn’t really understand it, but you were supportive of him and his career. it drew most of his time and attention, but who were you to say anything. he was pursuing his aspirations, and so were you.

you babbled on about a random assignment you were putting off, when dream spoke up, cutting you off completely. “what if i came to visit you?” you blinked, processing his words. “i have more than enough money, let me come see you.” you almost burst into happiness, the two of you quickly diving in to plan the details.

a week later, you stood in the airport. you saw the familiar head of dirty blonde hair towering over the crowd, and rushed over to him immediately. he opened his arms for you, you launched yourself into them, sinking into his familiar frame. something felt different, but you brushed it off.

however, during dream’s stay, he was constantly on vc with his friends, and barely paid you any mind. you would work all day in the same room, eat together, sleep in the same bed, but it felt so inexplicably strange. he was right next to you, yet it felt like he was further away than ever.

facetimes became less frequent after he returned home. his youtube took off even more, and you threw yourself back into your studies. your connecting piece had finally broken.

“what did you just say?” you were fighting back sobs, looking into the searing green eyes you once got lost in through the bright screen. you heard him perfectly clear, but you didn’t want to believe it.

“i can’t do this anymore.” he repeated, but his voice was barely above a whisper. you weren’t surprised, you both knew it was over long ago. dream glanced up from his phone, smiling at something, and your heart sank. you knew that look. it’s the way he used to look at you.

“there’s someone else.” you stated, and dream tensed, seemingly forgetting you were still on the line. he looked guiltily at your expression, and you sighed, forcing a small smile. “i’m happy for you. goodbye dream.”

you hung up then, allowing the reality to sink in and the tears to flow freely. it was over. four years down the drain like nothing. you’d worn yourselves so thin, until you couldn’t hold onto the past anymore.

you no longer fit together like the perfect pair you once were. the picture you’d painted together had faded.

dream had already found a new piece for his puzzle. a replacement. yet, you were a broken piece. and it was much harder to find a match for a broken piece.

perhaps your picture would be forever unfinished.
