This is exactly what I’m talking about when I say Simon and Ghost are 2 separate people oh my GOD THIS IS BEAUTIFUL

Duality

Simon Riley/reader or Ghost/reader This concept has been living in my brain for a while and I'm considering writing it into a full fic (maybe?) but for now, here's... this.

500ish words Simon loves you. Ghost does not.

Simon may love you, but Ghost does not. 

Ghost hates you. You make Simon weak. You distract him. You threaten his very existence. Ghost does not spend hours dreaming about you, like Simon does. He doesn’t think your laugh is the peal of bells like Simon believes, but the echo of a dying crow. Ghost does not think your skin is soft and lovely, instead its rough and jarring like sandpaper, uncomfortable against his own. He cannot stand to listen to you drone on and on about your day, or your job, or your moronic companions you call friends. Simon is always so enraptured by your eyes, the flecks of color that surround your pupils, while Ghost thinks they’re fairly non spectacular. Simon is constantly touching you too, taking your too small hands in his, stroking across your skin, dragging his fingertips up and down your arms to make you shiver, pressing his lips to your ear to whisper how much he loves you, how he adores you, how he’ll keep you safe. 

Simon’s always making promises to you like that. That he’ll take care of you, he’ll protect you, he’ll make sure nothing ever happens to you. 

But he’s lying, and only Ghost knows. Ghost knows you make Simon feel loved, make him feel safe, valued, cherished. Ghost knows Simon wants to return that feeling, wants to hold onto you so tightly that nothing can ever take you away.  

And Ghost hates that most of all. 

Ghost may hate you, but Simon does not. 

Simon loves you. You make him happy, make him laugh, make him feel safe. He could listen to talk all day, every day for the rest of your life and never tire of it. He could watch you dance around in the living room, his sweatshirt hanging at your hips, your feet slipping around in your socks as you fling your arms around his neck and pull him into your body. Since the very first day he’s met you, all he’s wanted is to know you, hold you, be with you. 

He'd hide you away if Ghost would let him. Marry you. Give you a baby, make a family with you, have a life with you. A life away from blood and violence and cruelty. A life away from decisions about who stays and who goes, who gets a fighting chance and who gets sacrificed. A life with you, where nothing like that would even exist. A life of love. Of happiness. 

He knows it could be real. Simon knows that he could have that with you, if he wanted. If they wanted. But there’s something lurking at the edge of his mind, the sharp edge of a knife that threatens to sever the connection that he’s found in you, the threat of a darkness that could take you away from him forever, and he would be powerless to stop it. Simon knows, Ghost could slip away with you one day and you'd never be seen again. Vanished, gone, taken from him just like the things he's loved before. Powerless to stop it.

And Simon hates that most of all.

Banter(?)

I’m reading this fic at the moment and Soap will try to confront Ghost about things sometimes but Ghost will just kinda go silent for a second then tell one of his fucked up dad jokes and I find it really funny.

Like imagine Soap really needing to have a talk with Ghost so he sits him down and is like,

“Hey, why are you acting like this? You’ve been so distant lately and I feel like you don’t love me anymore.”

And Ghost is just like

“What’s worse than biting into an apple and discovering a worm? Biting into an apple and discovering half a worm.”

And Soap sits there with the most distraught look on his face while Ghost looks completely unbothered and takes it as a cue to keep going LMAOO

Simon’s Adoration

Absolutely in need of a fic where Simon is absolutely WHIPPED for Johnny. Something that comes across my mind fairly often is how much Simon would love and cherish Johnny because of what he’s done for him.

Johnny helped him find Simon inside of Ghost again and was finally able to be a loving and nurturing man. With that, Simon would be at Johnny’s side 24/7 to keep him absolutely safe. Johnny would ask him nicely to give him privacy (not that he really minds, he just needs it on occasion) and each time Simon is hesitant but allows him as much time as he needs. Once Johnny is done with his alone time, Simon is glued to his side once again.

Johnny would ask Simon to help with something and he wouldn’t hesitate for even a second. If someone else asks, it’s simply a harsh “No,” or “I’m busy.” Simon would do anything for Johnny, and he knows it. Sometimes Johnny will even use this to his advantage to see Simon go off on some random recruit that made a rude remark about Johnny behind their backs.

This obviously doesn’t settle with Captain Price very well and it is so unbelievably obvious to the rest of 141 that it becomes a huge joke, even going as far as some calling Ghost “Soap’s loyal pet.”

They’re so fucking cute and I NEED more of this,, Umikochannart made a post that heavily inspired my need for this but yes I love them and I need more of them.

GhostSoap thoughts…

Saw someone comment something like Soap fell first but Ghost fell harder and I literally cannot stop thinking about it. Like the thought of Ghost finally being able to open himself up to someone, even if it’s just a little, then turning into absolute admiration towards Soap because he didn’t react the way Ghost had convinved himself he would is the sweetest thing. I also think Soap’s love language is physical touch (and acts of service) so Ghost is overwhelmed by it at first but slowly becomes used to it and even returns the touch sometimes AGGFHDHDNDB— Ghost’s love language is DEFINITELY quality time so having Soap just in his presence immediately soothes him and the entirety of 141 probably notices it too LMAO

we need more BRAHMS loving in these parts he’s so perfect

sit here n tell me he isn’t #1 comfort character material
