Sometime during the school year, the freshmen forged a Blood Pact.

It's advanced magic, magic that not even the most experienced mages would dare to do, but they don't know if they're going to live or die every time they step outside their rooms or Ramshackle.

With all these Overblots of people that are supposed to be wise, supposed to be caring, reliable, and responsible. But they're not. Every time they wake up, and something goes horribly wrong (because something always does), they tell themselves "It's going to be today; today's the day I'm killed by my Housewarden."

Sometime during the school year, the freshmen talked about forming a Blood Pact.

Surprisingly enough, it was Deuce who suggested it.

"You guys means so much to me," is what he said. "I couldn't survive without you in my life."

That was how the weight of their imminent doom came crashing down on them; the fact their lives are in constant danger. If even the most powerful, most "level-headed" of mages can succumb to Blot, and succumb BADLY, then they have no chance.

Sebek manages to distract Lilia enough to allow Ace and Epel to steal one of his old books (he doesn't feel as bad as he should).

However, despite how well it went, the Blood Pact has some very interesting side effects.

The main one being: They had no idea how much they got hurt, until each other's bruises and injuries started to show up on the other's skin.
