Lee Seokmin + "marry Me. Right Here. Right Now."
lee seokmin + "marry me. right here. right now."
@bluehoodiewoozi has a prompt wheel. i told her i wanted to break the wheel

âmarry me.â seokminâs eyes are hopeful as they stare back at your wide ones.
âyouâre insane, min.â
and youâre right. seokmin is insane for proposing to you now.
âcâmon. right here, right now. what do we have to lose?â
another meteor flies above your heads. youâre fairly certain the blast wouldâve caused ringing in your ears, if your left eardrum hadnât burst from an earlier explosion. you stumble into his arms from its impact as the giant space rock crashing into the next neighbourhood over. a protective hand pulls you flush against his chest, shielding your head against the sudden dusty winds.
you know you could always trust on seokmin to catch you.
still, his words ring clear in your mind. you push him away with what little strength you have left. your knuckles whiten along with the death grip you have on his shirt. âmin, stop with the nonsense!â
for once, ever since the worldâs end was announced, seokmin stops smiling. oh, you realise. heâs not joking. ââŚy/n, please.â he kneels down before you, offering up a ring as he clasps his hands in yours. itâs a flower ring, you note. you noticed he was twisting the poor flower earlier, but you didnât know it was for this.
ferocious winds whip your hair back, the charred fabric of your shirt flapping in the wind. you try to urge seokmin to stand up, to run away from the oncoming blaze, but heâs still staring up at you with that stupid, dopey smile of his.
âseokmin, get up! we have to go!â
your words fly over him. âplease? we can get wonwoo to officiate. hao and gyu can be our flower girls!â
heâs smiling widely at you, but there are tears pooling in his eyes.
âlee seokminâŚâ your free hand cups his chin. he nuzzles into it, eyes closed with content. your throat tightens up as you choke your next words out. âthe world is falling apart.â you sniff. âwe canâtââ
âwe can! right here, right nowâŚâ he scrambles to his feet, this time both his hands enveloping yours. itâs a familiar comfort, how his thumbs rub over your knuckles. theyâve gotten rough with scratches, but your heart tugs at how gentle heâs treating you still. he slides the flower onto your ring finger, and you canât help but choke back a sob.
heâs right: what more is there to lose? at the very least, youâll be going out as lee seokminâs wife; is that so bad? itâs a title you thought you would hold in at least a few more years.
you finally nod, tears falling freely down your face. from the corner of your eye, you spot wonwoo frantically waving at the both of you to run to safety⌠not that anywhere seemed safe enough anymore. you wear your own toothy grin, the very one seokmin falls in love everyday with, and you give his hands a tight squeeze.
ââŚokay. letâs get married.â

How To Fucking Write: a guide by fairyhaos

[masterlist]
this post details:
SLOW BURNS

hi gays and gals! "how to fucking write" is back, with yet more advice and tips for everyone ^^ please feel free to send me an ask if there's something you want me to talk about or if you want to be added to the taglist! and as always, please reblog if you find this helpful :)

# - HOW TO SLOW BURN.
.. bullet point one : word count .
putting this here because i have one thing to say about this.
word count doesn't matter.
you don't have to have over 50k words or some shit in order to write a really, really good slow burn. similarly, you can't just the quality of a slow burnâor a story in generalâby its word count.
yes, maybe stories with higher word counts tend to be better slow burns, but that's not because of the word count. it's because of what they do with the words.
so if you've finished writing your story and you're happy with it and it doesn't feel rushed, doesn't feel too slow, and it doesn't mess up the relationship development, that's it. don't try to add words just because it's not "long enough".
word count doesn't matter.
(that being said though, there have to be enough words for it to actually be a slow burn, but. that's a given.)
.. bullet point two : plan .
now i know that there are people who don't like planning, or their writing style means that they feel more comfortable with just winging it and throwing words at the paper.
however, for a really good, well-paced slow burn, it's really really important for you to create a plan.
it doesn't have to include everything! it doesn't need to be an exhaustive breakdown of all the scenes you're going to put into the story, but you need to know vaguely what's going to happen, and how you want your characters to act.
because slow burn is a leadup to a relationship, right? it's about relationship building. their relationship is a castle, and you need to know what your castle is gonna look like before you start haphazardly slapping bricks on top of each other.
plan the milestones you want their relationship to reach. think about what scenes you want to use that will signpost the gradual change in their relationship (more on signposts down below).
think about how you want the slow burn to reach its climax, and also when.
what will that climax be? will it be the realisation of feelings? will it be the confession? maybe a rejection of confession?
all of that can be figured out when you plan. having the climax in mind and having the ending in mind are things i will always advocate for when it comes to writing.
especially with slow burns. because it's all about that heart-wrenching climax, isn't it? when someone blurts out their emotions, and there are tears and shaky whispers and it makes you want to scream because feels.
planning helps with coherency, too. helps everything flow more naturally and make the slow burn overall feel more well thought-out and more impactful.
plus, i dunno about you guys but planning out how shit's gonna go down and cackling over how you're going to make your readers cry with every single almost confession scene and every single mutual pining part is just the most incredible thing in the world.
.. bullet point three : signposts
i mentioned this above, but having signpost scenes that you and your readers can use to identify milestones in the characters' relationship is very, very important.
for example, a very simple set of milestones would be:
the scene wherein X falls for Y
a scene wherein X almost spills their feelings to Y
the situation wherein Y suddenly realises their own feelings for X
a scene where they feel like they're about to lose each other
something that makes someone confess
it's horribly simple, and very vague, but these are the basic milestones that most slow burns will use to influence their characters' relationships.
but nevertheless, do you see how each of these scenes are important?
how all of them help the relationship progress? build up the slow burn, until it finally reaches its peak?
of course, the story would probably include more than just these scenes. if it's a good story, then of course it will.
but these are the most important, and recognising what your important scenes are, and making sure that you know how many you're putting in and in what way they influence the plot is very key to writing slow burns.
.. bullet point four : motive
this is perhaps not a very necessary bullet point, but if you wanna go all-in with your slow burn and make it knock-out spectacular, then i suggest that you think on this bullet point for a while.
why aren't your characters together right now?
---is the question you should be asking yourself to make it a really stellar slow burn.
why can't your characters confess? why can't they realise their feelings? what is stopping them from simply going from being friends to realising they're in love and then confessing?
your characters need a motive.
often, that motive is really simple. there's a whole bunch that are commonly used but, if you do it well, then it'll be as hard-hitting as if it's something no one could have ever predicted.
are they not together because they...
...used to be enemies? have been friends for too long? don't know whether they're really in love or if it's just a fluke?
maybe they don't believe in love. maybe they're loving someone who they think will never love them back. maybe they don't even realise they're in love.
the beauty of it all is that you get to choose. you get to pick your own dilemmas for your characters, and write about their messy path to realisation, through their slow burn, while untangling all their emotions throughout their journey.
slow burn is about feelings, after all. make those feelings complex. truly think in your character's thoughts, just for a moment, and think about how it would feel to be in that situation. think about how they'd react. what they'd do.
and also what's holding them back.
motives make everything even more deliciously painful. you can truly sympathise with the characters' relationship progression then, and can really get readers invested as they try to see how the characters overcome their struggles.
besides. don't we all love when X shouldn't love Y but they're going to love them anyway?

... and that's it ! if anyone has anything else they want advice on (how to structure, how to write dialogue, how to plan etc) then just shoot me an ask, because i'd love to help however i can :)

content: idol! jeonghan x gn! reader, angst, fluff, past life au, coffee shop au, royalty au (just read, youâll get it), unrequited love.
summary: a unique cafe down fifth avenue opens a whole new door of surprises for jeonghan.
word count: 1.4k
note: based this off the short exert i wrote at the end lol. totally not inspired by real life events haha⌠also iâm writing this at almost two in the morning please forgive any grammar or spelling mistakes.
it was cloudy. the sun peeked through the smallest crevices it could find as the wind gently brushed against jeonghanâs skin.
he shivered, pulling his green cardigan on tighter. he reached up, grabbing his white bucket hat to make sure it didnât fly away. god knew the wind was ruthless these past few days. jeonghan felt like the world seemed to be against him.
he hummed along to his music, walking down the street in solace. the cherry blossoms bloomed magnificently, its pink petals falling to spread its beauty. he looked up, admiring the trees with a gentle smile.
there werenât a lot of people out this time of the day and jeonghan liked that. he liked the comfort of not being recognised, being able to go about his day peacefully. the solitude was exactly what he needed.
inhaling a deep breath, he turned and continued down the street. the shops down this road were vintage. unique little thrift stores, record stores, quaint coffee shops that sold overpriced coffeeâ wait.
jeonghan paused, staring into the shop. olive green bookshelves lined the beige walls of the shop. behind, there was a counter with coffee machines and cake displays. at the very front of the store, there was a table. it had two chairs with a typewriter sitting on it.
a cafe? no, bookstore? or was it a vintage thrift store? confused, jeonghan looked up at the sign.
âcaffeinated literatureâ.
âhow peculiar,â jeonghan thought. glancing around, he peeked into the cafe again, noticing no one was inside. he wondered if it was closed, a slight pang of disappointment filling his chest.
however, the âopenâ sign on the door proved him wrong. his eyes moved down, and noticed the poster on the door, prompting him to move closer and read it.
enjoy a cup of coffee,
and let me write you poetry.
welcome to caffeinated literature.
it didnât take jeonghan another second to push the glass door open, the soft chime of the bell ringing in the air. âhello?â he called out softly.
there was a muffled crash followed by a yelp, shocking him. âhello! just give me a moment! please, take a seat!â
jeonghan sat down apprehensively, fluffing the cushion beside him. the interior was cozy, minimalistic and welcoming. swinging his feet, he continued to observe his surroundings, not realising you had emerged from behind the counter.
âhello, so sorry about that! what can i get for you today?â you panted, handing him the menu.
jeonghan looked at you in awe. your voice sounded like sweet, smooth honey that dripped slowly into a cup of warm tea. there was a sense of familiarity to you, but he couldnât figure out what it was.
âuh, sorry,â he mumbles, snapping out of his thoughts. âiâll just get an iced cappuccino and a poem, please.â
you grin. âgreat choice. iâll be right back with your coffee, so just take a seat in tbe front,â you gesture to the table with the typewriter. he nods, getting up as you disappear behind the counter.
jeonghan feels light-headed from staring at you. something about you was so enchanting, so magical and so familiar. he sighed, annoyed that he was unable to figure out what it was.
the aroma of his coffee drifted in the air as you brought it over. he thanked you as you sat across him, smiling as he sipped on it slowly.
âoh, wow, this is really good,â he remarked, licking his lips. âthank you.â
âitâs no problem,â you say, smiling. ânow, for the poem,â you gently slot the paper into the typewriter. turning around, you turn the speaker on, calm jazz music filling the cafe.
âi know this sounds rather far-fetched, but i usually hold peopleâs hands to get a better feel of their aura before i write their poem. do you mind if i do that with you?â
jeonghan shakes his head almost instantly. âno, not at all,â he says, extending his hands.
you smile, nodding in acknowledgement as you take his hands into yours, slowly shutting your eyes.
jeonghan shivered, and suddenly, he wasnât in the cafe anymore.
he was now clad in formal wear, standing at the entrance to a balcony. you stood at the edge, back facing him. the moon was bright and the stars shone in the sky.
âi didnât expect you to come,â your voice wavered. jeonghan couldnât speakâ he could not control what he did.
âiâm here now, arenât i?â he chuckles, swirling the glass of wine in his hand. âwhat bothers you, my dear, on the night we are to celebrate?â
when you turn around, tears rolling down your cheeks, he freezes. you stare at him, sniffing softly. even when youâre crying, you look breath-taking to him.
averting your gaze, you sigh. âi canât lie to you anymore, han,â you whisper. âtonight i watched you get married to the love of your life, confessing your love to each other in front of the whole kingdom,â you look up at him again.
âand now, i will confess my love to you, in front of the moon and stars.â
jeonghan is in shock. he doesnât know how to comprehend this situation. it is all too fast, too quickâ was this his past life?
âi have loved you ever since we were kids, han. my heart has held onto you tightly, refusing to let go. iâve seen the best and the worst of you. iâve seen all your flaws and imperfections and yet still i love you. i have been your friend, but never once did i love you like one. i loved you more than that. i would sacrifice the moon and the stars just to gaze at your beauty. i would burn the kingdom down if you wanted me to. my heart aches and yearns for your touch, your love, your heart and i know i will never get it, but i had to tell you.â
by the time youâre done, youâre panting, out of breath. jeonghan wants to rush forward and hold you, but his body stops him. there is no control.
âb-but y/n, iâm a prince and youâre aââ
âknight, i know,â you sob. âi prayed to the gods every day that my heart would let go of you because i knew i could never be yours, nor you, mine.â
jeonghan simply stood there, heart aching at the sight of you. âi am sorry, y/n. i am sorry i cannot love you the way you want me to,â he whispers, taking a step forward.
âitâs okay, han,â you say softly, tears staining your once rosy cheeks. wiping them away, you look at him with a sad smile. âit was never meant to be anyways.â
with a loud gasp, jeonghan finds himself back in cafe. heâs panting, eyes darting around vigorously before landing on you.
you were crying.
and so was he.
âsorry,â you let out an awkward laugh, wiping your tears away. âi donât know why iâm crying,â you whisper, trying to stop yourself from crying, but the tears keep coming.
âitâs okay,â jeonghan stutters, quickly wiping his own tears. he wants to comfort you more, but he couldnât find the words to. he felt like he didnât deserve to.
sniffing, your fingers suddenly start to gly across the typewriter, the clicks ringing in the air. jeonghan observes you intensely, watching you throw draft after draft away. you were clearly frustrated.
finally, after his ice had melted, his coffee finished, you were done.
âsorry,â you say, removing the paper. âi had a hard time finding the right words,â you confessed as he smiled.
he looked down, reading the poem as you fidgeted with your fingers. his eyes drift across each word, heart clenching as he reached the last line.
âthis is beautiful,â he says breathlessly. âthank you. i love it.â
you return the smile. âthank you for coming. i hope to see you again.â
jeonghanâs heart flutters at your words momentarily. âthank you for the coffee and poem. and who knows? perhaps i will see you again,â he chuckles before waving goodbye, pushing the glass door open as the bell chimed.
the breeze was stronger now, and jeonghan had to grab onto his hat again. with a loud sigh, he began to walk down the street, thoughts flooding his mind. it was racing, restless and utterly confused.
as he reached the end, he stopped at a traffic light, waiting for it to turn green. pulling out the piece of paper, he reread what you had written, tears forming in the corner of his eyes once again.
âwho are you,
stranger?
you look rather familiar.
perhaps i have loved you.
in another life.â

âBIRDS AND BEES CANNOT PHYSICALLY FUCK.â
You sounded more distressed than informative while you were trying to reason with your longtime best friend, Kim Mingyu. He, on the other hand, appeared visibly worked up over this childish level of argument you two were having.
âIt is a metaphor,â he said. âEveryone knows birds and bees arenât screwing each other up in the trees.â
You still couldnât wrap your head around it. Hours ago, you had fucked yourself over after Kwon Soonyoung had casually brought up the topic of body counts. After everyone in your friend group went around listing theirs (Soonyoung: 3; Jungwoo: 3; Minghao: 2; Vernon: 5), you accidentally blurted out that your body count actually existedâone, to be exact.
This was a problem because, to everyoneâs prior knowledge, you were a virgin.
