Simeon loves Hyun Jae

I know Jun & Jun is showing us that everybody is in love with Lee Jun, but . . .

I don't think Simeon really is.

When we first see him in the flashback, he is is seen between Lee Jun and Hyun Jae.

Shots that show a person in between two people like this normally highlight that the person is a barrier between those two people, like this scene with Lee Jun between Choi Jun and his "fiancée" Kim Young.

So the reason Simeon would be between Lee Jun and Hyun Jae is because . . .

He likes Hyun Jae?

When Hyun Jae was asking what he could do for him in exchange for Simeon's help, I think he was flirting with Hyun Jae.

Hyun Jae has an issue with babying Lee Jun, yet Simeon immediately shut that down by reminding Hyun Jae that he is a grown man.

But the text messages he sent Hyun Jae seem as if Simeon does like Lee Jun.

Yet, much like Simeon standing in the middle of the two, perhaps he is jealous that Hyun Jae is still sheltering Lee Jun like a child needing protection and avoiding him because the final scene, which was a flashback, was very interesting.

First, we have the look.

Then, we have the conversation.

And finally, the song. *I had to get it from a third site*

The song lyrics show over shots of Hyun Jae, not Simeon, and Hyun Jae's voice broke when he delivered this line.

Simeon shoulder checked him as he was getting into the van.

Because this wasn't a professional rift. This was personal.

And I think both of them knew that.

The released graphic showed their relationship was "former manager" but the question mark implies that may not have been all there was, and the arrows go both ways.

Also, the promo material has them paired with those damn question marks too.

In conclusion, I think Simeon loves Hyun Jae, and is trying to make him jealous by openly dotting on Lee Jun. Mostly, if Hyun Jae is avoiding him.

Because when Simeon was telling Lee Jun sweet nothings, the screen panned to Hyun Jae's face.

I think Simeon is being petty in order to get Hyun Jae to notice him.

He already lost once. He doesn't plan on losing again.

I don't have the time to really get all my thoughts out right now, but it sure is something that Kang becomes immediately, obsessively fixated on the first person to ever stand up to him, like a little attention seeking missile.

We see that Kang's dad isn't terribly interested in his life, his grandmother sees what he presents and nothing more, and aside from the girl (did I miss getting her name?) who half calls him out on being a little too obvious with his metaphors, everyone else from his peers to his teachers all bend over backwards to appease him and cater to him.

And then there's Sailom, who tries to get him in trouble for his bad behavior, who refuses to bow to him -- literally -- and spits at him, who won't be baited into fighting back the way Kang wants him to. Who only got involved because he cares about his friends.

Of course Kang is obsessed and trying to get Sailom's attention any way he can. No one has ever treated him the way Sailom does, and it's making him feel unhinged. Kang doesn't know what to do with people who don't bend to him, and so he needs to make Sailom bend, but he only knows how to do that by "punishing him" for the "bad behavior" of not being like everyone else, and Sailom won't let himself be bullied into submitting, so Kang keeps escalating, using Sailom's friends as leverage.

But then it gets interesting again. Because in that last scene, what does Kang want? Sailom to take his clothes off. To beg. And then to kiss Auto.

All in front of an audience, so Kang can show off his power over Sailom in this very sexual way, but in which he's almost totally removed his own desires from the equation: by making a show of it, by using Auto as a stand-in, by making queerness into something embarrassing and dangerous. And even still, he unbuttons Sailom's shirt. He stands close, where he can see Sailom's face.

Idk, there are a lot of other things to say here, about the lines between obsession and desire, and specifically how those things are more difficult to parse for young queer people (do I want to be them, or be with them? etc ) and how those lines are especially blurry for people who aren't used to not getting what they want, and at the same time having to deny themselves what they really want (Kang has every material thing he could want, but he has little in the way of support and understanding, his grandma notwithstanding as she seems to have very rose colored glasses on) but I am short on time.
