Our Humanity As Australian Aboriginal People Has Been Questioned Vigorously Ever Since Whitefella Came
our humanity as Australian Aboriginal people has been questioned vigorously ever since whitefella came to our fucking lands and i'm going to be honest i don't give a fucking shit if your questions about Aboriginal people are purely from a scientific evolutionary standpoint: asking how or why Aboriginal people are considered to be Homo sapiens is the most racist dogshit way you could ever fucking ask your stupid question. As if us Aboriginal people don't have to deal with racist cunts saying that we're extinct or that we're not as evolved as everyone else because we never "progressed" past a certain point or some shit (as if "progression" was some how necessary for us to support our communities and live our lives the way we wanted to). it is the most tone-deaf racist fucking dumb shit i have ever heard. i am now demanding that non-Aboriginal people actually read the many many pdfs and articles that are out there, made by Aboriginal people and by different Australian government bodies about how to work with or communicate with Aboriginal people and what is/is not allowed to be asked and other BASIC FUCKING INFORMATION ABOUT ABORIGINAL PEOPLE because you whitefella are acting so out of fucking pocket that i truly believe that you need to read this shit so you actually start acting respectful when it comes to Aboriginal issues and you know HOW to actually talk about these issues without talking over us or being a shitcunt about it. and yeah one of the PDF's is 51 pages long. suck it up and read the whole thing and don't complain about it to me.

Creepy Walking Thing - Made by Tim Lewis
I know that POTS isn’t a very serious diagnoses. A lot of people have it much worse. But I’m still struggling with the diagnosis, and it’s a weird feeling acknowledging that this is how it’s going to be from now on. That I’m just going to have to play life a bit safe. That there are things I struggle with. That there’s no pill to take or surgery to do.
My life is just a little trickier than I thought it would be. And that’s tough.
Okay apologies for hopping on tag trending train but I have an important request.
If you don't know about the history of Aboriginal genocide in Australia, watch this program.
It's a very very hard watch but one that is important.
If you're outside of Australia, make sure to set your VPN to Aus. You may also need to set an acount for SBS but it's free viewing.
I would also recomend most of SBS's docos through NITV, as they're the National Indigenous broadcast station.
A little update on the warnings before I forget. I'm a little pressed for time so this is from my DM's with someone I've shared with.
I just wanted to give a heads up that the show contains footage of a mourning ceremony (with the grievers's permission from what I remember). There is also a segment where stolen remains are returned to their families but there is no appearence of the remains themselves on screen. From what I can tell/remember these scenes are treated with care and gravitas but I don't think I can be the one to say whether they were treated appropriately. Anything on colonialism is a hard watch, but this doco particularly follows on the unglamourised brutality of the frontier wars as well the lack of recognition on the wars from the Australian government/military and from the wider Australian public. That's on me for not disclosing that properly in the post.
I hear a lot of talk about two spirit people, which is wonderful, but I thought as an australian I should mention brother boys and sister girls.
I am not a First Nations person, and don’t know a lot about these cultural identities but I’ve never even heard them mentioned in online queer spaces other than on one australian queer self help webchat.
Brother boys are Indigenous trans men, and Sister girls are Indigenous trans women. (I’m pretty sure at least) I think that there is a connection to country that links with these identities, but again I am not a First Nation’s person, and I don’t know any Brother boys or Sister girls personally so I can not say I know this for sure.
I’d love to learn more about these identities if anyone would like to share, and I really hope I have not misrepresented anything in what I have said and if I have I apologise and please say so. :)
ok but this article was really interesting. i hadnt read up on aboriginal queer history and culture yet but this is really interesting, thank you so much for prompting me to look into this!
