lgbtq headcannons for the icewings (Winter, Snowfall, Lynx, Tundra, Narwhal, Hailstorm, Icicle, etc)? do u think that some of them are homophobic? I love ur posts and i'm curious on what u think of this. ty <3

Truth be told I don't really like writing homophobia/transphobia just bc like. I'm dealing enough w my own internalized nonsense and I also do not want to give bigots/bigoted thoughts more space in my head. So I won't write any tribes as,,,, violently homophobic, because no fucking thank you I have seen enough of that. I also think all of the Icewing characters we've been introduced to are gay, so whoops lol. Here's some notes on Icewing society for you + my thoughts on the Icewing protags at the bottom:

Queer dragons in Icewing Society:

-Icewing society, especially for royals, is incredibly, incredibly restrictive and based around social climbing. That involves following pre-determined, very restrictive rules.

-However, what seems to matter more in Icewing society is performing the job given to you, not how you do it? Arctic is paired off with Snowflake but no one seems to actually expect them to be in love- just to fulfill their job as a pair.

-Icewing society is also super focused around children, I talked about this in my hc post (which is conveniently linked below) but Icewings value children incredibly highly as the future of Icewing Society(tm). What matters is your ability to raise and continue on Icewing Society.

-I guess that means I lied a little bit, because homophobia does still technically exist, or at least heteronormativity does. However, with the Circle rankings being permanent once a dragon turns seven, I imagine afterwards the pressure of high society is lifted somewhat??

-These ranks can still be revoked, obviously, but once you've proved you know how to follow the script and that you're a True Icewing, a world of freedom opens up to you.

-I imagine this is a situation where transness might actually be more acceptable as gender doesn't prohibit a dragon from being able to partner up or raise a child. And the higher ranked you are, the less lower-ranked dragons can speak of it, which does unfortunately put more pressure on trans Icewings to social-climb as to be in a high enough position of power no one can say otherwise to their transition

-Gay Icewings may have an official partner paired with them as the Queen demands, but may have secondary, unofficial partners of their preferred gender. Again, all about how your children are raised to be. If you keep it quiet enough and your ranking is able to stay where it is, it doesn't matter the nitty-gritty details

-I don't have the brain power to really workshop this but I imagine there's plenty of code-words for these unofficial spouses.

-It's definitely a system based on social privilege and flawed as hell, and the amount of pressure it puts on the children of nobility to grow up as harsh as their parents is cruel (we all read winter turning, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that). Queer Icewings don't get off much better than cishet Icewings tbh, it's a system that makes everyone miserable and mostly succeeds in drilling a sense of learned helplessness into every Icewing royal.

-As far as normal Icewings: Icewing territory is rough- it's cold, sparse, and devoid of much in the way of food and shelter. Icewings are incredibly community driven to match this (see here, though the writing is over a year old and I'd def want to change it, it does get across some interesting points).

-I genuinely don't think normal, everyday Icewings have enough energy to spare to care about gay/trans dragons. If you do your job correctly and you don't make a fuss, it's about as notable as blue eyes. A novelty for the first five minutes maybe.

-Aro/ace nobility are in for a rough ride, genuinely cannot think of a good answer here. Icewing society bad >:/

I think I would write him as biromantic homosexual?? I think he's not incapable of crushes on female chars but he leans hard towards men and I see him just sort of calling himself gay bc it makes life easier (this is where I take off my qinter hat to shamefully reveal a smaller, dunce shaped "qinterwatcher" hat underneath)

Admitting to himself he has feelings for *anyone* is a battle, much less men, so I imagine it takes him a long time to feel comfortable coming out, he still really doesn't know how to deal with other dragons being into him

Gnc king, he might be cis but he's absolutely killing it. He's more,, idk, traditionally feminine?? Icewings in general have almost no sexual dimorphism and gender looks different in each tribe but he's a specific kind of long and pointy. My boy is shaped like a really weird siamese cat.

Hailstorm:

I say bisexual but honestly this guy is way too messed up for any kind of relationship. He better be therapysexual by the end of wof

I will say Hailstorm has big "guy who doesn't know everyone in this party is into them" energy. This idiot walks into a room and everyone is immediately in love.

Like their brother, I think Hailstorm is very androgynous, though in a different direction? Winter is elegant and slinky, and while tall, his body is much more,,, drapey, and his features end up rather petite in comparison to his siblings.

Hailstorm on the other hand is like a wolf- lean but definitely not skinny, all smooth muscles and rippling scales that make his movements look effortless. They're that weird balance of fierce but gentle-looking.

Icicle:

Bi but also with a strong leaning towards women, I just call her sapphic in my notes

Her specific brand of self-absorbed and intense means her brand of flirting is,,,, a lot.

Lots of showing off, lots of "taking care of stuff for you", scaring off potential competition, and usually without. actually consulting the object of her affections

POV: you're just some cute Mudwing trying to attend school so ur sibs can stop accidentally eating poisonous plants and maybe learn how to read and that scary Icewing girl in ur class shows up at your door with a whole polar bear, wyd

In her defense that would've been a killer opening move if this was the tundra and she was also still considered a princess

Femme by dragon standards (please remember though this is a book series where potential queens have to kill the ruler in one on one combat)

Snowfall:

I hope in her quest to make Icewing society less awful she's able to kiss Lynx that would be nice I think

Normally not the first person to make a move but Snowfall is such a hot mess it's actually strongarmed Lynx into being the one to actually start flirting and trying to establish a relationship

I really lean towards her being primarily into women but I think it's really funny if she had a crush on Winter bc it solidifies her type into being The Worst People To Have A Crush On Ever and I need more "bisexuals with garbage taste but not in a self-destructive way just in a "why them????" way

The formatting keeps breaking itself though- EVEN THOUGH I keep going back and correcting it and it’s really annoying me. Nothing that would spoil the read, just occasionally there are spaces where there shouldn’t be and I can’t seem to get rid of them :/ hopefully I’ll get better with the formatting the more I use A03.

A full page of Springtrap's "Anatomy" doodles for all you springlock enjoyers out there.

Initially I just wanted to draw a ref for myself, so I traced Springtrap's outline off of my laptop screen (twice) and drew over them. This was mostly done to 'get a feel' for the character since I wanted to get better at drawing them. Then I went ham adding details inspired by lore, springlock videos, and fan theories, along with some of my own ideas. I looked up multiple references for the endoskeleton too. Nakey Springtrap is funny.

Eventually I want to draw each layer properly in better detail, with in-depth descriptions, and do a better job of making sense of the springlock mechanism. Consider this a rough draft.

I went through and tidied up each and every letter and did my best to recreate the background from the preview. Also I inverted the colors and went with a blueprint style to mask the creepiness of the original, which can be seen below. vvv

I feel like Monty is VERY straight until he gets close to a gay dude (Freddy probably is, but I do not think he is super close to him). Like. Gay is kinda just a thing he knows about, it is what his leader is, but if he becomes best friends with a gay guy, suddenly he will start thinking "Could I like men??" because now anything is possible. It would also take him a bit to realize liking more than one gender is also something that happens

Monty and sun are also a cute couple, but they did have a rough start. On their first date Dj called monty just to brag how he just got engaged to moon lmaoo

Edit: I wanted to also say Dj’s eye color is based off “StrangeChildProduction” on AO3. They have been writing a fanfic based on fnaf sb during and after the plex. It’s kinda like a found family story. But anyway Dj’s eyes change color based on his mood i.e., Blue-sad, green-happy, i think yellow was excited, red-mad, orange-annoyed, magenta-flirty/in love. Anyway go check them out I love their works!!

I have never read the graphic novels but I stumbled upon this image and omg it's actually so sad.

He looks so sad and confused as to why any dragon would have a toy that is just for fun and to make them happy. What's even sadder is that he thinks it serves no purpose but he doesn't understand that the purpose is to make a dragonet happy and since he doesn't understand that he sees the toy as having no value. Tui and Milke Holmes why must you do this to me I can't I can literally see him reflecting on his own childhood and wondering why he never had something like this.
