Bread, Fluff, and the Sea

Cozy. That what the kitchen feels at the moment, the warmth from the oven and the wonderful smell of bread envelops her in a comforting hug. She doesn't know whether the red from her cheeks comes from the heat of the oven or the sweet kiss from earlier that still burns her cheek. They're outside at the moment, tending to their small cacti garden. In the window that overlooks the shining sea and the petit garden, they're there. Back faced towards her, shirt dancing in the gentle breeze, all the while still beautiful. They sigh in satisfaction after stretching their long bent back. They look over to her, the wind blowing their hair in their face. They stick their tongue out as the wind blows their hair to their face, they end up eating their hair.

"Pfft- wind stop it!"

She laughs at them, the sound, no matter how boisterous, warms their heart. They smile at her, she catches their gaze and she smiles back. Both their gazes filled with love and promise.

"You're dumb," she teases.

They huff, arms crossed their chest. "Way to ruin the mood." They turn their head away and puff their cheeks like a petulant child. If she looked for him for a few more seconds, she could have seen, could have heard them mumble under their breath, "I was trying to make everything romantic and cheesy too.."

Hollering from the window a little too loudly considering they were only a few feet apart, "The bread's ready! Eat while its warm!"

They smile, wide and bright, and run in the small house they share. The small house they built on promise and love and proceeds to hug her.

"I love you, dum dum"

Smiling, she kisses them as her answer. In their small house, at the sea, and the person she adores with all her heart, she's as happy as she could ever be.

Hogwarts: Year Seven

You dislike Kim Taehyung by association.

It began in your third year at Hogwarts. Prowling the quidditch pitch in your first match against Slytherin, you nearly fell off your broom when you were jostled by chasers. You were mortified to see that by the time you’d clambered back into flying position, Park Jimin had caught the snitch and won the game for Slytherin.

Frozen by the fact that you’d just lost the first game you ever played in, you didn’t hear Jin, your friend and fellow beater on the Gryffindor team, calling for you to fly down. No, you were stuck. Staring at the waves of Slytherins as they cheered and their team flew around them in victory. Something in that crowd made you freeze, although you weren’t sure what it was until you saw him.

Somehow, in the sea of green and silver, you focused on a single face. Mischievous eyes peeked out from under a mop of curly black hair, drawing you in with their own form of gravity.

Kim Taehyung stared up at you, completely focused as you gawked from your broom. For a single moment, nothing else existed as you locked eyes with the Slytherin boy. The cheers died away until all that was left were his eyes, holding you in place.

Slowly and deliberately, he arched a brow and smirked. Without a single word, you heard him loud and clear.

hey if you don't mind, could you explain what's going on in afghanistan right now?

I am by NO means an expert on the whole situation, so its absolutely worth looking up everything I say here for some more detail and etc, but the long and short of it is: America and all the other countries that have been involved in "the war on terror" for the last 20 years (a war which has primarily been based in Afghanistan, and which has DECIMATED much of the country) have all pulled out; quite suddenly, and with little to no handover process to even attempt to make sure that everything wouldnt fall to pieces in their wake.

And the SECOND that all the foreign countries moved out, the Taliban moved in, and have captured the majority of the country within a week, including Kabul today, 16 Aug 21, which was a) where the Afghan President was and b) was pretty much the last city that hadn't been taken by the Taliban.

There are countless displaced Afghan civilians, who have been driven from their homes in fear for their lives, and who are now refugees. Some of them made it out of the area in time; some didnt and are now hemmed in on all sides by Taliban forces.

There are multiple reports, from a BUNCH of different cities that they've taken, that the Taliban are torturing and slowly murdering anyone that they think helped any foreign power -- this includes translators who worked with foreign armies, cooks, cleaners, drivers, etc. Litwrally, if there is anyone the Taliban suspects of interacting with foreign military and doing anything other than spitting in their face, the Taliban is now viciously murdering those people.

There are also numerous reports that they are taking women and female children and forcibly marrying them off to Taliban members. I'm sure you can imagine how consenting the marriages and all they entail are on the part of the women/girls involved.

There are also reports of them recruiting young boys and men to their forces, and torturing and murdering anyone who doesn't immediately agree to sign up.

The US and its allies (Australia, UK, Canada, etc) have spent twenty years fucking up Afghanistan under the guise of "helping them to create a democracy." What we actually did was further destabilise an already destabilised nation, commit a shittonne of war crimes, and then leave them all at the not-so-tender mercies of a militia who have now, within a week, taken over the country, and who will conscript or murder their male civilians, and who will rape and/or murder their female civilians.

The various governments around the world are "shocked" at how quickly this has happened, but note!!! They knew it would happen. They're surprised by the speed with which the Taliban have taken over the country, but they have been open about knowing full well that it was only a matter of time. Their initial estimates were three months. Because three months is suuuuch a long time when you're an Afghan citizen with no means of escape who is staring down the barrel of, at best, a return to the oppressive ways of militant extremists, and, at worst, torture and murder for anyone who doesn't comply with the Taliban's whims.

The US et al occupation of Afghanistan has been appalling from the get-go, but its a brand new crime to leave the country without a leg to stand on knowing full well that within three months at best, the whole country would be under the thumb of rulers who would rape and murder their women, and torture and murder their men.

The governments in question have all been Very Stern And Gruff about telling everyone that they got their people out. My shitbag prime minister today assured the country that the Australians have all been evacuated, and other countries are doing the same.

But guess what!! The fucks i give are not limited to Australians!! I also happen to give a shit to all the Afghan people who have been left to deal with this!! I give a shit about the female journalists who are on the run because the Taliban hate free press almost as much as they hate women, so to be a female journalist is a double-banger of a crime in their eyes, so anyone who's both those things is currently being hunted down!! I also give a shit about the millions of displaced Afghan citizens who've been driven out of their homes!! I also give a shit about the sons who are being murdered in front of their families, and the girls who are being kidnapped and married to Taliban men, and the people who had to do their best to make a living while the foreign armies were there, and who will now pay with their lives for "helping the enemy."

This got longer than I planned. Theres a lot going on; this barely skims the surface.

Tldr: Western military forces have -- after squatting in their country for twenty years -- knowingly abandoned the people of Afghanistan to torture, rape, and murder as the Taliban take over the whole country.

"What?" You frown at Taehyung doubtfully. "But Jinnie said this is how you do it. I just need you guys to grab the bath bombs in one of those counters."

Jimin looks up, confused. "Which one?"

"I don't know," you shrug. "I think the top right one. I've seen Hobi reaching for it over but there."

"But that's so high! We don't have Joonie's height."

"Come on guys," you huff, "just 'cause we're pockets and can't do this normally as the rest doesn't mean we're useless! We should do things ourselves once in a while."

"But won't the hyungies get mad?" Taehyung asks.

"I don't-" Your squeal makes the three of them jump, quick to turn around with alarm and finding you dropped right in the bath that has yet to fill up.

"Y/N!" The three of them are quick to gasp.

"It's cold!" You shiver, knowing you already messed up with filling up the bath because the water isn't supposed to be cold. "And the water is going to fill up quickly, guys! I can't swim!"

Your panicking makes the three other pocket boys panic as well, with Taehyung and Jimin just standing on top of the sink, running around and freaking out while Jungkook is quick to hope off, little feet scrambling to leave for one of the bigger boys.

"Hyung! Hyung!" He runs to Yoongi's room that is the closest, quick to climb up the bed and tug at the man's sleeves. "Hyung! Y/N fell in the bathtub!!"

His eyes shoot open in an instant and utters a few curses as he stumbles out, almost tripping upon his own self while trying to make it into the bathroom.

Jungkook follows behind.

"Y/N!" He takes you out of the water, hissing at the cold sensation and turns off the faucet, and is met by a teary you. "Oh baby," he sighs, relieved yet so confused. "What were the three of you doing, hm?" He asks as he puts you on the sink next to Jimin and Taehyung who are quick to rush to your side and hug you tight.

Yoongi grabs a white towel to his right and lets you hop in to dry you off before he feels a light tug on his sweats and looks down to find Jungkook.

"Y/N-ie alright?" The little one asks, eyes rounded and big with worry.

"Don't worry baby, we'll get Y/N all nice and warm again."

"Can I help?"

"Of course."

"Me too!" Taehyung shouts.

"And me!" Jimin chimes in.

Just have my heart. You deserve it.
