simple tutorial on how to make those bottlecap buttons you see everywhere
you'll need:
bottlecap•soda tab•safety pin•pliers•sandpaper/file•paint/paint markers/smth to decorate with•clear nail polish
remove the print on the buttons using a file or the sandpaper
(if you wanna keep the print skip this step, use a cloth to protect the print from scratches when folding down the sides of the cap)
fold down opposing sides of the cap, to help add in the safety pin
bend the tab at a slight angle, insert it into the cap. make sure the side of the safety pin that can not open is the one stuck under the tab
fold down one side of the cap to lock the tab in place, then try and press the tab as flat as you can, to lock the safety pin in place (prevents the buttons from moving on the safety pin, if you like rattling buttons, skip this step)
fold down all other sides of the cap
cover the button in one or more base layers of paint
add ur design (i use paint or paint markers for good coverage and vibrant colors)
cover that in one or two layers of nail polish, it will protect the button from rain and the paint from cracking

It is wild how Gaiman as far as I’ve seen hasn’t made a public statement about the growing list of accusations. He’s a famous author who centers heavily on tumblr and twitter and constantly talked with fans and random people online then suddenly dead silent for like a month aside from a few shitty responses.

the inaction and blantent disregard of the whole neil gaiman situation is absolutely disgusting to me. the lack of media coverage this is getting is frankly appalling and people need to wake the fuck up and stop supporting a system that allow creeps like gaiman to exploit vulnerable people. and to those who are apart of fandoms related to gaimans work, please don't stay silent or worse not belive the victims just because you love the characters/ shows/ books this man has created, our silence is compliance and I will not be complient with furthering rape culture.

None of the problems people had with the other podcast (and to be honest, I think those arguments mostly just represent the denial and bargaining phases of grief) apply to this one. This woman says she only came forward because the Tortoise podcast made her aware she wasn't alone. Until then she'd believed him when he told her it was just her. Good Omens fans, I'm sorry if you're hearing this from me (although unfortunately it does matter that you hear it from someone). If you had heard but tried to look the other way -- listen, I know this is shocking and heartbreaking. It is of course up to you how you participate in fandom from here. But please stop tagging your fandom posts "Neil Gaiman". You are ensuring that anyone searching for information is going be swamped with Good Omens fanart and S3 countdown posts and pictures of socks(?) and photos of actors who have nothing to do with this. They might then conclude that there's nothing to these allegations. And that matters: at present, aside from Rolling Stone and the two podcasts, this story hasn't received much press attention. The latest survivor says that she tried reaching out to reporters and was told her story "wasn't enough." So at least for now, social media sites do matter as a record on this. When you drown out this story with your fandom feelings, you are helping, whether or not you realise it, to cover it up. And considering that he seems to have targeted fans who trusted him... I don't even want to finish that thought. So please, stop. Do what you want in the other, more relevant tags. But you're likely to have a better experience if you start trying to separate it from him, anyway.

F I V E that is to many women that have been hurt by this scumbag. one was too many. please for the love of God do not let this blow over or be swept under the rug, Neil's behavior is disgusting and he should be held accountable for his actions. please don't let your love for a peice of art overshadow the real world harm this man has caused. use your voice, do not stay silent we can't let rapists get away with this shit.
It is not acceptable that Neil Gaiman has failed to issue any response to the allegations against him. Given that back in 2020, he put out an apologetic statement about flouting COVID rules, which, yes, is something worth apologising for, but is on a completely different level of seriousness than what he's accused of now - the silence seems calculated and dishonest. The sort of response that comes from listening to a lawyer who's seen one too many YouTuber cancellations and thinks staying quiet is an amazing beat-the-system life hack - missing or ignoring the fact that it's also a huge message of disrespect and dismissal to, not just those making allegations against him now, but to all victims of this kind of crime. "Your suffering matters less than my reputation, these crimes carry less weight than my career. If I ignore you, you will go away."
It's not good enough. It's just not good enough.
One point that I want to talk about:
In the podcast, Clarie mentioned how she reached out to Gaiman with the intention of saying what she felt she needed to say and asking for an apology. This struck me because I did something similar with my rapist, and the response I received was eerily similar to Claire's experience.
Like Claire, when I called my rapist, I was fully expecting him to be defensive. I was fully expecting him to be dismissive and to shift the blame onto me. I was prepared to counter his excuses.
Instead, what I got was what seemed, at the time, like a sincere apology.
Yet, despite how genuine it sounded, I've always doubted his sincerity.The reason boils down to two words: damage control. When he realized I was confronting him, he said whatever he needed to say to pacify me. In Claire's case, Neil did the same. He apologized, claimed ignorance, attributed his failure to pick up signals to his autism, insisted he had never done this before, asked how he could improve, and even made a token donation to a charity Claire cared about.
How nice of him (sarcasm).
And for Neil, it worked… temporarily. After receiving what seemed like a sincere apology, Claire backed off. She decided against coming forward, felt she had the closure she wanted, and believed—or wanted to believe—that he wouldn't do it again.
But that's exactly what Neil wanted.
We now know that was a blatant lie. Not only did Neil target at least one other woman afterward, but Claire wasn't his first victim, nor likely his second or third. Not only is he a liar, he’s a GOOD liar. Here is this woman, Clair, who is finally calling him out on his bullshit, ready to hold him accountable for his bad behavior, is saying “No, I didn’t kiss you first, you kissed me first,” and “No, that’s not an excuse.” She still walked away believing (or wanting to believe) his apology was sincere and that he wouldn't do it again, even though he probably knew full well he was going to strike again. If he could convince Claire, in that situation, that he was genuine, imagine what else he's lied about, covered up with PR, lawyers, editing, rehearsing, and years of practice.
Actually, we don't have to imagine, because we already know. For years, Neil has constructed this persona of someone safe, someone who champions believing women, diversity, inclusion, and all these noble causes. Much of his fanbase resonated with these values and looked up to him for it. Hell, I used to think that man was a national treasure. And now we have to cope with the realization that the persona our hero constructed is a complete fucking farce.
PSA - #neil gaiman
Almost a month has passed now since the airing of Neil Gaiman’s alleged sexual abuse of two young women (I use that caveat to protect not him, but myself), and apparently now a third has come forward. Am I surprised? No. After all, where there’s smoke there’s usually fire, right? What I am is weary. Because this type of behaviour is of course not new – the powerful (and most often men) using their power and prestige to manipulate those who look up to them for their own pleasure, and perhaps as a salve to their own insecurities – about getting older, or about how great a maker they really are, when they look into their secret souls. Ok, so I guess I'm angry, too.
I haven’t written here about this before. I tend to worry about saying the wrong things, which I know is something I need to work on. But seeing so many fellow fans continue to tag their creative fandom content with the #neilgaiman tag makes me sad. I don’t want to miss out on having season 3 of Good Omens produced, but I think all of us who consume this media have a responsibility to not cover over these ugly truths. Even if you don’t feel comfortable speaking up, you can make small gestures, like not posting your fandom content with Neil’s tag – that way, the voices speaking up (whatever their angle – that’s what free speech is about, after all) will be better heard. And those fans who aren’t yet aware, since mainstream media seem disinterested at best at this point, might become better informed. Or at least aware.
Losing respect for someone you once looked up to in any way is a grieving process, and we all deserve the opportunity to undergo that. For me, Good Omens was my introduction to Neil Gaiman’s work (and Terry’s, too). But more so, I was inspired by his advice about writing; the small encouragements, the idea that even if you could sometimes only pen 50 words a day you could still write a book. And while I may no longer look at him with respect or for creative guidance, I refuse to let go of the renewed loved for writing and image making I’ve found since that last episode of season 2 grabbed me by the metaphorical lapels and changed me forever.
I love this fandom. A little part of my soul has found a home here with you all. I will continue to create and add to the world of Good Omens that belongs to all of us. And to believe the victims.

every time I find a pill on the ground I take it home with me and draw a picture of it with crayons. here's the collection so far.
^ the very first pill I found & drew. couldn't identify it (markings rubbed off) but it looked very beautiful to me.
^pill no. 2: fluoxetine. my greatest find and finest crayon drawing. sorry to whoever lost their fluoxetine. I'll save it for a special occasion. I used a sharpie pen to clean up some lines on this one I think.
^ pill no. 3: ibuprofen. accidentally closed my laptop on this one, destroying it. and getting goop on my laptop. I found another one though. People drop a lot of painkillers. The first 2 used only colors from the classic 24 pack of crayons, but I had to break out extras from my childhood crayon collection for this one.
^pill no. 4: benadryl. this pill was crumbling inside its plastic when I found it, but it was intact enough to take home and draw! Hooray.
^pill no. 5: midol. this one was real scuffed up. I actually found an entire bottle of midol on another occasion, and someone's last 2 weeks of birth control yet another time, but those are the kind of things I leave behind because someone's likely to miss their entire bottle of midol or sealed birth control and come back for it.
^pill no. 6: unfinished advil/ibuprofen. I find a lot of painkillers, as mentioned, so I guess I got bored. I also have a drawing of acetaminophen that I am not posting because I don't like it.
^pill no. 7: severe tylenol. I didn't know such a thing existed until I found it on the ground. "severe tylenol" makes it sound like the tylenol is mean. this was among the more challenging ones and it's kinda rushed, but drawing the plastic was fun. just did this one an hour ago.
in case you're wondering, I do keep the pills when possible. I like to hold onto my reference material. they live in a separate box from my vintage ibuprofen collection.

Juno is a great cook but refuses to cook, instead eats dry pasta. Rita eats industrial sized barrels of sprinkles.
Buddy thinks that in theory, her current favourite food would be chocolate ice cream.
The first thing nureyev ate aboard the cart blanche was one of rita’s salmon flavoured snacks. they have since secretly become his favourite food, although he very rarely eats them.
when nureyev stole the contents of juno’s safe, all he found was a bunch of gifts from juno’s past clients, some old legal papers and a few creds. He found this infinitely charming.
Vespa once showed rita how to paint perfect black nails. She has since violently denied these allegations.
Nureyev is allergic to cats.
Jet collects little trinkets that Rita gives him, and neither of them ever verbally acknowledge this.
Jet can play guitar.
Buddy and Jet play chess together. This first started when Buddy was recovering from radiation sickness, and they quickly adopted this as a weekly game, even aboard the carte blanche.
Buddy and vespa make an awful duet, although they have great singing voices seperately. They always sing together on karaoke night. Rita and Jet make a brilliant duet. Juno can sing but rarely does, and nureyev is a great singer, but only when it comes to jazz.
Nureyev painted some of the bad art Juno collects.
Buddy wears a jessica rabbit dress.
vespa looks great in a suit. I cannot stress this enough. Absolutely fucking rocks that look.

Buddy knows a lot about old earth pirates. Like, just. So much about them. Has an entire cabinet dedicated to old earth pirates.
Rita and nureyev are the only two aboard the cart blanche who can speak brahmese, nureyev because he grew up there and Rita because she watches a lot of streams in brahmese. They both often judge people on jobs in brahmese.
Buddy and Juno smoke.
Jet makes lovely little pastries and cakes. Rita appreciates his talents.
Vespa and Juno both take their coffee the same- no milk, one and a half sugars, and then about half a cup of milk and another sugar when no one’s looking.
Rita takes her coffee with one teaspoon of coffee, whipped cream, sprinkles and synthesised cheese melted on top.
Rita’s historical idol is Mabel from gravity falls.
