His father been treating him like garbage for his whole life and all of a sudden he treats him well? Caspar should've realized something is wrong

You ever think what Caspar goes through at home, how helpless he felt when even his own brother wouldn't defend him from the physical and mental abuse he would get from his father. No one could hear his cries even if he told someone they wouldn't believe him and his father would know if he said anything and would "correct" him not to lie.
