What's Arkham like for Roman?

Not a fun experience for him, or anybody else for that matter. Roman is a very difficult patient with a notoriously short fuse, his most dangerous quality being how he can go from 0-100 in an instant. He can appear to be fine one moment, seemingly calm and quiet but the wrong look at the wrong time, hearing a word he doesn’t like can be enough to trigger an explosion. His unpredictability and penchant for inflicting maximum damage as quickly as possible makes him an especially unpopular patient amongst orderlies, splitting them into two groups where people either fear him or hate his guts, deliberately antagonizing him further with choice words (freak is always a favourite) and actions knowing he’ll struggle not to react. It’s a vicious cycle not helped by either side. Several employees have lost family and loved ones to Roman and others like him through drugs or gang wars, and while they can’t retaliate against him in the way they’d like to, they can fuck with him and make his experience in the asylum a miserable one. Roman’s paranoia combined with his inherent mistrust of authority figures is only reinforced further as each slight, every jab only makes his hackles rise further, inevitably leading to staff drugging him to the eyeballs with sedatives in order to keep him managable. Roman does behave slightly better when it comes to psychiatrists, though he’s changed hands a number of times when his anger issues and untrusting personality become too much to handle. He’s touchy about certain subjects, not appreciating attempts to ‘pry’ into his childhood or decision to transition. One psychiatrist who dared call him by his birthname immediately became an enemy in his eyes, permanently rendering any further sessions together impossible. @arkhampsych‘s Dr. Jonathan Crane has so far proved himself the best candidate at ‘controlling’ Roman, remaining unflustered even in the face of violent outbursts while Roman in turn is more forthcoming not only about giving information but listening to instructions without his usual defiance. All in all, Roman detests being in Arkham and his lawyer is quick to get him released as soon as possible, going as far as bribing officials while masked individuals started threatening the right people to get their boss back out on the streets once again.

Oh, he’s pissed. He’d been waiting for an opportunity to watch a couple of movies his parents never let him go see as a kid and Star Wars had been one of them. Once again Harley had spoiled the experience, blurting out that forbidden line when she saw the title hanging around. “Fuck you, Harley! This is why no one likes you, you fucking bitch!”

Roman: I’m nothing like my goddamn shit-for-brains parents! I don’t give a fuck about Bruce Fucking Wayne!

CANDIDATE FOR ADVANCE RESEARCH?

Psychological Profile: A mild psychopath, Sionis has narcissistic tendencies but the main malady he suffers from is resentful obsession with, of all people, billionaire Bruce Wayne. Sionis is fixated on Wayne possibly due to childhood traumas that he has projected onto the idle playboy. It is difficult to say whether the two actually knew each other as children, or if this is Sionis's invention. However, it is Sionis's criminal activities, and the role playing that resulted in the black skull-like mask accidentally burnt into his skin, that resulted in his committal to Arkham.

Additional Notes I'd question whether Sionis is actually insane, if not for the choice of his obsession; I can't imagine being interested in (much less stalking) such a pointless personage as Bruce Wayne.

Roman stirred, fingers twitching in response to the sound of a faraway voice echoing throughout the darkness. Somebody was talking to him, their words resonating across the sea of heavy black fog he was floating in, just barely able to make out their meaning as he fought the urge to give in and succumb. Gifted. Rage. Magic. They were like a beacon, piercing through the crushing weight of exhaustion threatening to drag him back beneath the surface and so he pushed back, just a little harder against it. One finger moved, then two. A groan accompanied their movement, hands clenching into balled fists as memories of what happened at the cafeteria came flooding back. He’d been angry, too angry to control even for the mob of orderlies it had taken to bring him down. Bastards couldn’t even take him one-on-one, needing their stupid drugs and numbers to quell his wrath. Forcing his eyes to open took nothing short of herculean effort but somehow Roman managed it, the man squinting hard against the glare of harsh lights beaming down overhead. Darkness fled, brightness scorching his eyes almost as bad causing him to blink slowly to bring things back into focus. What he saw wasn’t quite what he expected, his gaze landing on to see not a psychiatrist scolding him for his outburst but instead a woman he’d never seen before, one who was most definitely not supposed to be here in his cell. Either Arkham had switched to new drugs or he’d officially lost his fucking mind.

”That’s what they fucking think.” Roman managed to grit out, his voice sluggish and choppy as he forced his unwilling tongue to form words it did not want to. Yep, those drugs were strong but his visitor gave him something to focus on at the very least. “The hell are you supposed to be? You sure ain’t what I expected as a figment of my imagination...”

“If I weren’t able to sense such things, I’d think you were gifted.” It wasn’t every day it took a battalion to take down one angry patient. It was almost enough to make specters think you had super-human abilities. 

Floating closer, she held a hand over the restrained figure, flexing out her fingers before pulling back with a sigh. 

“But no. Just gifted with rage.” Breathing it in, she became a little less translucent. “Emotions are a powerful fuel on their own. A magic in their own way. A shame they’ve figured out how to medicinally quell yours…..for awhile at least.” 

When he was younger, Roman’s parents tried to send him off to a private boarding school for girls of affluent parents. He lasted all of three days until he lost his temper one lesson and brutally attacked another student, causing her to nearly lose an eye after smashing a glass beaker into her face. The incident resulted in his expulsion and his parents having to settle costs out of court as recompense for his attack, leading to his staying in Gotham and his parents becoming warier of the growing teen on their hands.
