We are all robots with varying degrees of self awareness; slaves always unto the chemistry of life and existing within a proscribed set of probabilities. Some robots are lucky, others less so, but all exist in the spinning void of infinity with only each other to care for. Fear not our friends the metal monsters, O chemical creatures; for they (like you) did not ask to exist, to tread their weary path until their time is through. five years ago if you had told me that i was a girl, that i would have multiple people who actively wanted me to be part of their lives, that i would have my own actual for real greenhouse to grow plants in, that tens of thousands of people have read something i wrote, that i would want for the most part to stay alive... i probably would have broke down crying. which, i mean, i did cry every time one of those things happened so

(i am an emotional person; it is very easy to make me cry)

anyway, my point is that my life has gotten exponentially better since i learned that i am trans, and i am grateful that i have had a chance to learn and grow and not just survive, but thrive.

“Everybody has a different way of saying ‘I love you’ and even more complicated they all have a different way of hearing it. I say it by giving things I find in my day to day travels that remind me of my partners to them, and I hear it best through physical touch; even something as simple as a wingtip brushing part of my wing as we settle next to each other comes through like an enormous neon sign. 

It’s important to understand this because society tries to sell us one single idea of how to say and hear it (out loud and with flowers respectively) when the reality is everybody is saying it in a thousand ways and hearing it in a thousand others, and very few people are lucky enough to find that one in a million who naturally says it in the way they can hear. It’s almost cruel, that we can be surrounded by love on all sides yet not perceive it because we haven’t learned to understand. 

But, Gods, when we finally do learn... it’s practically a symphony out there.”
