you know considering how many clinically insane takes on history I’ve already seen I’m surprised no one wrote a paper on Alexander I’s sexuality yet. Fandom spaces love neurodivergent people, love talking about them, love claiming characters as nd, love giving them quirky personality traits because they're cute, love claiming how much they love them.
Right up until they don't because a neurodivergent person inevitably does something neuro divergent. Missed clues, misunderstanding tone, awkward expression, butting into conversations at the wrong time or derailing them without meaning to.
Suddenly, a neurodivergent person finds themselves pushed to the fringes of groups, ostracized or outright excluded and removed from "welcoming" discords.
Things that could easily be resolved with some kindness and grace and a sprinkle of patience and the occasional clarifying question.
But being autistic or having ADHD is only cool when it's the cute kind, the quirky, exciting, SILENT kind, not the one that comes with lost time or words we barely remember saying, slips of hard-won control or emotional bumps in the road and difficulties expressing what you wanna say.
Fandom spaces love neurodivergent people, until they actually have to work with them to include them. Then they are a disruptive problem and soon will be accused of not trying hard enough.
