Fame au Jegulus who were forced apart when their labels found out they were together and never got to talk it through and have closure so they spend years pining. James fades into the background because he's pissed at the industry and ends up joining Remus, Peter, and Sirius at their small cafe/bookshop. Regulus stays with his label and stays in the spotlight. His next album is a breakup album and he wants to talk to James but knows he can't do so in person or make it obvious who the ex is. So instead he makes the album cover his headshot with antlers projected onto the backdrop. He makes the antlers a key part of his musical persona knowing James will recognise it as a symbol for him. The label catch on but it's become such a big part of his persona that they can't possibly force him to stop it.

The fans catch on to the motif quickly and start to copy him, wearing antler headbands to tours and freaking out whenever he takes a pair from an audience member for a certain song he wrote immediately after they were forced apart. Even when they can't speak, he's talking to James, letting him know he remembers him and loves him still. And by wearing the antlers to every damn show, the entire world is chanting the same thing even if they don't know it.

"It's kind of...wonky. Like the line breaks off a bit," Remus mumbled, squinting his eyes to get a closer look at his own hand.

"A broken Love Line," Sirius read out of his Divination Book steadily, "means that you may have a huge, unrequited crush, or the love of your life may let you down in some devastating way."

All four boys stared at Remus in silence as he gazed at his palm, face reddening. Fuck, that was too accurate. No way was he about to admit to his obviously unrequited feelings for Sirius.

Clearing his throat a bit, James chuckled awkwardly. "Divination's a wooly subject anyways, Moons. I mean, my life line's really short, and I'm not going anywhere!"

But Remus couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding as he smiled weakly back at his friend.
