The clear message of the effects of nationalism and imperialism can have on the people, the land, and their history how it can quickly take over and use its lower class citizens as pawns for their dirty work.

How Maisie changes from seeing her parents as great war heros to victims to the crown as so many others were human and sea beast alike.

i’ve been listening to rise of kyoshi and i tried to draw her from the small amount of book description i’ve gotten and fanart i’ve seen in passing. not sure if this is how i’ll keep drawing her, i haven’t finished the book or shadow of kyoshi, so i’m still missing a lot of details. i’m enjoying the book so far! kyoshi’s relationships with other people have kept me really invested.

walz says that ‘largest police presence in Minnesota history will be prepared’ to enforce curfew, so please prepare if you’re planning to protest 

remember that breaking curfew can be as simple as taking a walk, the more people who disobey the curfew the better

🏳️‍🌈 Ruth Ellis (1899 - 2000) was the daughter of former slaves. She came out as a lesbian when she was 16-years-old to the complete acceptance of her family. In 1937, Ruth and her longtime partner moved to Detroit from their hometown of Springfield, Illinois for the promise of higher wages. There, she became the first woman in Michigan to run her own printing business. She printed fliers, posters, and stationary in the front room of her home, which also quickly became a hotspot for Black LGBTQ social life. Before long, Ruth was helping those who came around in any way she could, including by paying for college tuitions. After the Stonewall uprising, 70-year-old Ruth began giving speeches in support of gay and lesbian rights all across the country. She remained an activist for the rest of her long life and even spent her 100th birthday leading the San Francisco Dyke March. At the time of her death at 101, she was recognized as the oldest out lesbian in the US. She is the subject of the documentary "Living With Pride: Ruth C. Ellis @ 100" and is the namesake of the Ruth Ellis Center, a shelter for homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth in Detroit.

I haven’t seen many people talk about this, so here we go:

What is this? It looks like some alternate form of Luz but who knows exactly what.

It appears to be black or dark blue with stars all over it and a green stripe across it. Maybe it’s a stellar energy form of Luz as some kind of result of her performing untraditional magic. I can’t really say.

I have a feeling that this is foreshadowing something that will happen later on the show.

This reminds me of this scene from “The First Day”.

Luz makes Eda’s puppet with one black eye, just like Eda’s owl monster form. This could be just an allusion to that, but it could foreshadow problems Eda might encounter with her curse later on.
