I know being black is hard when it comes to what feels like consistent, communal trauma. it's okay to take a breather and feel- you don't have to always feel "strong". We're all here. ✊🏾❤️

BP Writes and the Fandom in general 🕊

This movie has brought us together. We—the BLACK, YOUNG, and GIFTED poured our hearts and souls into creating new and creative worlds alongside adding our own imagination to the BP MCU world. As black women writers we have this bond that can’t be broken—SHOULDNT BE BROKEN. Let’s take this time to remember Chadwick—his smile, his eyes, his contagious laughter, his humbleness, his selflessness, his undeniable talent, his strength, and overall how much of a true KING this man really is in life and death. For those T’Challa writers—KEEP WRITING! Let’s remember him, he is no longer hurting and suffering. He’s at peace and he wouldn’t want us to be sad. It’s heartbreaking, it’s devastating, but let’s keep his family in prayers. I have been thinking about the BP cast, about Ryan and I know they are crushed. I hope we can all continue to stand together. I’ve met some amazing writers and connected with them for TWO YEARS. I love you guys so much!

I’m thinking a lot about how there was an internet joke for a while that Chadwick Boseman was getting sick of doing “Wakanda forever” bc he occasionally looked tired or unenthused in pics. Knowing now how much he was suffering through and how tired he must have been, I’m thinking about those pictures again. He really continued to bring people happiness and make art through cancer diagnosis and treatment. Celebrity deaths are so strange and it’s always a unique sadness and I never feel quite entitled to my sadness. Like, I didn’t know him. But he brought me a lot of joy and I just want to acknowledge that. Wishing him and his family peace

I’m not really an emotional person but this shit reallly brought me to tears. I hate that I can’t speak on it with my fam because they might look at me crazy. I know I didn’t know this man but it sure as hell felt like it. There is so much I want to say about him but my anxiety is so fucked right now I can’t even get my thoughts together.

I know I haven’t interacted with my BP fam in a very long time but I love y’all. Back when we were on here heavy y’all got me out of my shell.

I hope he knew the impact he had on the lives of countless people around the world. I hope he knew how much he was loved and how many people admired his talent. How many people - little boys, little girls, men, women - looked up to him.

I can’t fight the tears that come stubbornly, I can’t actually believe that that is true but I know I’m finding comfort in knowing that Chadwick Boseman will literally live forever through the legacy he leaves behind, and that he’s already a legend and a symbol of hope and a symbol of power for forever.

Rest In Peace. Rest in Power, King.

It’s quiet in my house right now. We’re just sitting with this news and letting it sink in.

And I’m hurt, man. Chadwick contributed so much to the world and Black people particularly in the short time he was on this earth.

To some people, they lost a character in a franchise, but to Black people, we lost a king. He embodied the unity of the diaspora in a way the world had never seen before. And it wasn’t fleeting. He brought joy and pride, and it rang out across the world. Not just as T’Challa, but as every role he played.

He churned out six movies in the time he was sick. He was a wildly condescend pack of talent that we had the honor to witness in real time.

Chadwick is an ancestor now. I’ll be lighting a candle for him tonight and I hope he moves on knowing that he was loved so much not only be the family around him, but by millions of people around the world who saw themselves in him.

I don’t really know what to say right now..... this has hit me really hard. RIP 🖤🖤

some ☕(ik this is a coffee emoji but im on android & the tea emoji looks stank, so lets pretend its tea.)

So for all of the people who have told me to “move on to a different fic” or I’m just making it up because it’s “not that common”: these are 8 different fics that i have read, all having the description that implies that my skin is lighter than it actually is. It’s not.

“You turned crimson” “Your cheeks turned pink” “your knuckles turn white” “you run your fingers through your hair before flipping it over your shoulder”

It’s those tiny descriptions that literally yank me out of the fic, pushes me out of the involvement and just reminds me “you wouldn’t feel this way if you were white like the story implies”

Y’all are whitewashing your fics because you’re not acknowledging the fact that there are people with darker skin tones, who physically cannot blush red. So please at least attempt to be more inclusive. Just because it is their style of writing, doesn’t mean they have to make the reader exclusively white. And I shouldn’t have to go search for fics where it is specifically for a POC audience.The reader is supposed to be as neutral as possible for them to fill out their skin color, hair style, hair texture, favorite color. A story can still be really good, even when the reader isn’t implied to be white.

So in conclusion, please stop giving me and many other readers white characteristics when you know for a fact that people of color read your fanfics as well. Thank you

And you’d felt that it was all coming together, with a great job, a great family, wonderful friends and a boyfriend that you felt could possibly be the one. You’d only been dating Jin for six months, but you’d felt that the whip smart lawyer could be the one you’d finally tie the knot with.

Finally get your parents off your back about marriage and possibly work on providing them with the grandkids they so desperately wanted.

Leaning your head back against the cushions, you stare up at the white ceiling with a dull gaze as you consider that it’s probably for the best you hadn’t gotten too in depth when planning out your future. Because who would have seen this coming?

The door opening lets you know that your roommate has finally come back from his own place of work, and the rustling of bags tells you that he’s likely brought your favourite takeout from the Chinese down the street.
