One reason don’t joke about autism is because don’t want be seen as joke.

Not funny not able regulate emotions. Not funny having difficulties with social interaction. Not funny need people already know around help socialize and make new friends. Not funny that at current age still need supervision going places.

Not funny that put life in danger because low environment awareness and sense of danger. Not funny know possibility never able live alone. Or go college. Or even walk to park that barely 5 minutes away from house.

It’s not funny that small things have me breaking down, crying, yelling, hitting myself and others. It’s not funny that a small change of plans will ruin my whole mood. Not funny that make random faces, don’t notice am making them, and get yelled at for face.

Not saying don’t have good autism traits. But if joke about good ones, others won’t take my bad one’s seriously.

People at school realised quickly that touch was an issue for me, so kids used to chase me around trying to touch me because they knew it would cause me distress

You do NOT owe anyone physical touch or affection, no matter anyone else's expectations of you

Wow. Shocking I know. (/s) The Internet is basically incapable of treating autistic coded characters as if they're not toddlers. Muriel is a 6000 year old being, they aren't a child. Being new to Earth isn't the same as being stupid or naive. If someone found themselves randomly dropped on a different plane of existence that they've never been to before you bet your ass they'd be clueless as shit.

Same thing happened with Thor in the first movie, but no one was treating him as a child, but since Muriel displays clear traits of neurodivegence it's suddenly okay. Same thing with Aziraphale. Just because he's bubbly and socially awkward and has special interests and stimms does not mean he can't make his own choices. Give that boy (gn) a candelabra and he will. fuck. you. up.

im surprised tumblr hasnt jumped on dead end paranormal park, or maybe i just havent seen it in my circles. Its got a fat gay transmasc lead, a most likely autistic lead, found family, demons, a bunch of other kinds of queer rep, and a talking dog. and it talks so openly about the topic of being trans in a way i havent seen in a kids show before. especially not for a trans male.

this is pretty incredible stuff. and aside from the rep its also pretty funny and an overall enjoyable watch. Never feels forced. Its the kind of kids show i wish i had grown up with. Of course netflix has once again taken it upon themselves to completely neglect advertising it, so i thought i might make a little post to inform you that its a pretty good show and you should watch it if you're into that stuff. :)
