@ghostypetrainer is the one who first started this AU and has talked more about Emmet taking Yuri's role in the story. I recommend checking it out.

Emmet as Yuri has always been an amusing thought in my head anytime I thought of this AU. (And it's STRICTLY PLATONIC. We ignore what made Yuri... unqiue. Oof)

It's the bittersweet idea that depsite the fact that they're twins, Ingo took the more big brother role due to their parents' death, so they were each other's only family. Obviously Emmet would do whatever he can to repay him back for the support and sacrifices that Ingo made.

There is nothing to repay him back though. Ingo is just glad that he could keep each other well fed and educated.

No matter what AU he is in, Emmet will always suffer in the confusion. Emmet, I'm sorry. Lol

Not at all where I thought it was going, but get this: the displacement was Arceus's direct response to being banned from the Battle Subway, but not out of spite. It was just trying to follow the rules. "I'm not allowed to battle you here? Okay. We'll battle there."

That's the condition for going home: Ingo just has to battle Arceus. The outcome doesn't even matter.
