Screw it, I'll make a very long headcanon for it!

So you know how in the anime there is this running joke about Kazuki exaggeratedly crying or squealing anytime Miri does anything adorable or when Rei does something out of character for Kazu? Lol

Miri buying a crepe for him, Rei attempting at making food for Miri's sport's festival, or Miri's reason for picking her two papas during the race, etc. He becomes overdramatic, cartoonishly big crying eyes as he squeals in excitement or absolute awe. Just a proud stage stagemom and it makes you laugh at the wholesome hilarity of it all.

....So what if one time he does the opposite? : )

Let me give you a scenario:

Timeskip to 10 years later. They may have left their life of crime, but Kazuki's dramatic ass still stays intact, lol. He still happily gushes at their small yet meaningful accomplishments, he still dramatically wails anytime Miri or Rei do something nice for him, he's still the same overdramatic king that he is.

And then one random morning, Miri and Rei just want to do something nice for him. Not for his birthday, Christmas, anniversary, heck not even when he's dying from a cold or something. They just want to do something for him because they can.

Again, it's nothing much. It's just a simple breakfast in bed they want to prepare. It's eggs and bacon with a flower in a vase because it's cute. When Kazuki wakes up, both his partner and teenage daughter simply greet him a good morning and present to him a little breakfast they made for him. They anticipate the overreaction he usually does, the dramatic crying or exclaims, but it doesn't happen.

Well the crying happens, but it's not boisterous or loud. Instead it's just Kazuki quietly looking at the meal before him with tears just slowly falling on his cheeks, a face filled with shock yet still so subtle. The two of them are confused, worried. Did they do something wrong? Why is he crying so silently?

Even Kazuki himself wonders why he's crying? He should be happy, or better yet he should all over the place by now. He is happy. So immensely happy of this gesture. And yet, his first reaction was to cry.

Maybe it's because of the simplicity of it all. Everything at this moment was just so domestic to him, he never fully stopped to grasp the idea that this is their whole life now: Working in their very own diner with a daughter he grew to love and a partner who he learns to trust over the past 13 years they knew each other. They were a family. He never thought he could have a family. He never thought he would be given another chance to even have one again. He thought his late wife and unborn child would be the last experience of normalcy and love he could ever experience again.

And yet here he was with that chance, and he would be damned fool to let go of that chance, to cherish this new life. He quietly thanks Miri for making his life so much livelier, he thanks Rei for never giving up on them when he himself nearly did, he thanks them both for filling his heart with so much unimaginable amounts of love and care.

And so he looks at the two worried individuals before him, and he gives them a soft smile through his tears. He whispers to them that he loves their surprise. He loves them.

Miri does not hesitate to throw herself into his arms, softly giggling as she does it. Rei's not too far behind as he sits down by his side, leaning his body towards him as he wraps an arm around his shoulders, just like how he usually does it to Rei. Kazuki holds them close in his arms and in his heart.

Rei and Miri share the same look; The reaction was unexpected, but they call it a mission accomplish anyways.

...Anyways I love them-

Everyday I'm reminded the reason for having Mob Pyscho 100 as one of my favourite animes of all time was because of the infamous Tumblr Sexyman poll of 2022 and how it introduced me to Reigen.

...How do I explain this to people anytime we talk about Mob Pyscho 100? :'D

How do I explain that I watched the anime out of spite, to jokingly bully Reigen for defeating my favourite Amnesiac train man, and then ended up loving his character and anime unironically.

How do I justify the fact that I made too many jokes about cursing Reigen to be haunted by trains because he defeated Ingo in the poll that I was jokingly upset about, and then the anime dedicates a whole OVA about Reigen being trapped in a ghost train for like a month and now I actually feel bad for making too many curses on him about trains haunting him and now it's like half of the Reigen angst I saw in the platform and just!...

If I may, I also have a point that could support the fact that they DO care for each other. (It's talking about Furina's side of things this time)

After finishing Neuvillette's story quest, there is a bonus at the end where you can read a letter that Furina sends him about how she's been bugging him to go out more and talk with their people.

Keep in mind, this is back in 4.1, before fully understanding Furina. Our view of her back then was an arrogant God obsessed for the dramatics with just a bit of heart cracking through her facade from time to time. It could be why not a lot of people thought too much on this small detail, but by then, they were already giving hints at their dynamic. They were already hinting at Furina's actual shock and excitement that Neuvillette might have listened to her advice and got to go out more, that she is not all about her dramatics and actually cares.

(Like you said, this is even supported by Furina's comment back in Lantern Rite. No subtlety like 4.1, just plain admission that she's relieved to see him take a break.)

And it does make you wonder... Furina must've been one of the significant reasons why Neuvillette is now the person that he is. Once was only nothing but an immortal being who cared little for humanity, now a man who love his people till present day to the point that his love for humanity was one of the main reasons why Focalors' plan worked: So he could forgive them for the sins of their curse.

It's an admirable journey for Neuvillette and his character, but surely he must have not done that alone. The man is a judge for goodness sake! If he's going to judge human beings, then he needs to understand them. Before his friends, before the Melusines, it was Furina who was by his side for those first few decades, who most likely guided him into understanding more about humanity and pushing him to go out more and interact.

I just love the implications/theory that it was Furina who first looked out for him, parallel to how Neuvillette now looks out for Furina. If she won't fully enjoy the wonders of humanity, then at least Neuvillette can.

Neuvilette and Furina do know and care for e/o btw

Nvfr antis have a lot of dumb arguments and talking points (esp on twt) but one of the worst ones has to be “Neuvilette and Furina barely knew each other during those 500 years / are practically strangers b/c Neuvilette never noticed her suffering or saw the real her!” (Which isn’t true btw)

Not only does it feel like slap in the face to their relationship but to the archon quest as well. How on earth do you see Neuvilette during the AQ worry about Furina multiple times because of how suspicious she’s acting. He literally gets into an argument with her because he wants to know why she’s acting this way and if she’s hiding something from him but yeah, totally stranger behavior 🤒✋🏽.

Not to mention that he was the one notice how happy furina looked to return to the stage…something she didn’t even notice herself but yeah he doesn’t know her lmfao. Neuvilette has seen the real furina before and he DOES care for her same for Furina (ie. her being happy that Neuvilette was stepping out of his comfort zone during latern rite)

The only thing Neuvilette didn’t know about was her curse (which people use as the reason for this silly argument) but literally nobody did or was allowed to because one of the restrictions of this curse was that she could tell NOBODY or it wouldn’t work which is why she felt alone… from Furina’s perspective her relationship with Neuvilette (and even clorinde) are awkward because of this but I don’t think that means that they don’t know each esp. after 500 years (much less for Clorinde)
