realizing that sticking to the "do it bad" "do it scared" mentality implies theres also a "do it bored"

My Opinion: Trobed is The Best depiction of friendship
On one hand we have Troy: former popular football player who couldn't play because he did a keg flip (and that too as a way to escape the surmounting pressure to achieve a sports scholarship), someone who still has a childlike view on things, does not understand "adult" things sometimes (and I mean adult as in taxes, income, rent kinda adult), possible (unconfirmed because I relate to this character and in some sad need to equate myself to this character I refuse to conclude because I don't know if I have) ADHD, stereotypical jock archetype. On the other hand we have Abed: television connoisseur who views the world via the frameworks of televised tropes as a method to understand human relationships, uses his understanding of human trends to support a group of friends he accidentally landed into, acutely aware of flaws and even is able to replicate/produce personalities if he wanted to but actively chooses not to, probably (definitely) ASD, stereotypical nerd archetype. The way these two characters are complex in and of themselves despite still managing to play around their allocated stereotypes and how this complexity forms a unique dynamic is a testament to how each friendship formed in one's life possesses many facets that fleshes out and gives life to it. This is evidenced simply by Troy's fascination for "adulting" pairing well with Abed's fascination of his adult friends, and their mutual childlike demeanor forming a beautiful common ground (even during the blanket fort vs pillow fort war). Even their conflicts are resolvable, and their willingness to communicate is beautiful. From something as simple as having a personal handshake to something as big being able to construct a Dreamscape in their apartment, this duo manage to encompass what a true friendship built (perhaps initially) off superficial things such as movies just being in the same place at the same time can blossom into a strong bond. I love that. All that said, I'm still salty Troy left on that goddamn boat.
It's interesting how Troy flirts with Britta only in the timeline where Pierce goes to get the pizza. It's like when Pierce was kicked out of the group, and Jeff and Britta started making fun of Troy instead. Jeff puts him down more when Pierce is gone, which leads him to feel angry and insecure about his maturity. Britta's acceptance and interest is a symbol of manhood to him.
Or at least if we see this as Abed's view of things, he believes Troy would turn to Britta if his insecurities were aggravated. As a love interest she represents maturity and living up to social norms of gender and age, whereas Abed represents everything Troy has been taught he shouldn't want if he's going to be taken seriously. And Abed is terrified that this insecurity could push Troy away.
