Things I Learned In My First Week of Coming Out as Trans

Heya! If you don't know me or haven't checked out my profile, I'm Scarlet! I'm a trans woman (MtF) and have been out for a little less than week at the time of writing (9/24/2024, and I came out last Thursday- 9/19/2024). These are some of the things I've learned thus far in that week.

If you're like me, you're going to continue to remain super happy, excited, and optimistic after first coming out. NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT LIGHT FROM YOU AND DO NOT LET THEM.

If your voice sits at a naturally higher register, and you're comfortable with doing that for extended periods of time, lean into that even if you haven't started voice training yet (like me)! You'll be surprised how far some confidence and a little bit of Twink Voice(TM) will get you in terms of dispelling dysphoria and boosting your own image of yourself.

One of the biggest things I've gotten hits of gender euphoria from so far has been the simple act of shaving. Shaving my legs, shaving my torso, etc. Feeling the way my skin feels after a shave, how soft and smooth it is under the decades of body hair growth... and not only that, but being able to see how unblemished it is when I thought it would be COVERED in scars and pimples. It rules! Never underestimate the power of a shave!

IF IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME SHAVING AND/OR YOUR HAIR IS REALLY THICK USE AN ELECTRIC TRIMMER FIRST FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. I made the mistake of not doing that the first time I shaved my legs and ended up taking a two-hour bath to the ire of the other members of my household. Electric trimmers are a GODSEND, since they knock down all the really long/thick hair and reduce it to stubble which is SUPER easy to shave off (for reference it only took me 20 minutes to shave my chest/tummy this morning!).

PANTS WILL FEEL DIFFERENT AFTER SHAVING YOUR LEGS. JUST A HEADS UP.

Seriously you will not want to stop feeling your legs. They feel so smooth and very girl :)

You might get a little cuntier. Lean into it. You deserve to :3

If you think to yourself "what if I'm faking it?" then chances are you probably aren't, or you need to sleep. This is doubly true if you keep seeing women and saying things like "goals" or "god I want to be her"

This game really touched my heart... and gave me so much inspiration... this is my tribute

I want to mention @thirdchildart , her work with visual metaphors was huge inspiration for this comics too, especially that stream where she was talking about visual storytelling in her tma animatic

Disclaimer: This is not an instruction on how to deal with amnesia or the effects of alcohol. I've never drank alcohol and have absolutely no idea what to do in alcohol situations. The situation in the comic is fiction, based on the game lore. If you see someone in similar circumstances, or you experiencing something like this, go to doctor

YOU - "Kim. Do you think we're friends in other universes too?"

SHIVERS - Two cats jump from chimney to chimney, one cleans soot off of the other's face. A willow sways gently next to her birch, their roots tangle together deep underground. Two boys chase each other through the woods with sticks held like swords. An elderly couple solves the day's crossword puzzle over cups of coffee.

KIM KITSURAGI - "That is a very far-fetched idea, detective. Let's focus on the here and now."
