"Will you just shut up for a moment so I can say something nice to you!"
·˚ ◌༘₊· ͟͞꒰➳ Yang Jungwon x Fem! Reader GENRE! Fluff!, Academic Rivals 〘WC: 226〙 『 ↳✧・゚ Warnings ; None!! ↳˳;; ❝ ʙᴏᴏᴋꜱʜᴇʟꜰᵕ̈೫˚∗ ・: *:・゚★ MOON 💭 A little drabble of the 6th book of 'The Decelies Academy Series

The words burst out of Jungwon's mouth, his usual calm composure shattered as he glared at (Name). They were sitting in the library, textbooks and notes sprawled out between them, but the tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife.
(Names) eyes widened in surprise. Her quick-witted retorts had been silenced by the uncharacteristic outburst from the soccer team captain. (Name) just blinked at him for a moment, speechless, a rare sight indeed. More Under Cut

Jungwon sighed, running a hand through his hair, his frustration melting into something softer, more vulnerable. “You’re... really good at this,” he finally managed, his voice quieter now, the heat of the moment dissipating. “And I’ve been trying to keep up with you, but it’s not easy.”
(Name) opened her mouth to respond, but Jungwon cut her off, his words tumbling out in a rush. “You’re smart, (Name). Like, really smart. And I respect that. I just didn’t know how to say it before.”
A blush crept up (Name)'s cheeks, and she looked away, suddenly fascinated by the corner of her notebook. “Oh... um, thanks,” she murmured, the usual confidence in her voice replaced by a shy undertone.
Jungwon let out a small chuckle, the tension between them finally breaking. “So, can we work together now? Without the whole rivalry thing?”
(Name) met his eyes again, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah... I’d like that.”

Kang Hana's POV
As the school bell rang for the last time before the holidays, a wave of excitement washed over me. Six weeks of freedom finally laid out before me.
Just me, myself, and I.
Well, if you don't count my parents and my 3-year-old sister.

Still, there were moments when I longed for the feeling of having a friend.
I had always been surrounded by acquaintances.
"Don't forget to come home soon!" my mother called out as I stepped through the door.
My local park was calling me.
It was my haven, a place where I didn't need a best friend to feel happy.
Mother Nature seemed to embrace me as one of her own.
As I arrived at the park, my eyes immediately fell toward my favourite spot.
The swings.
Usually, the swings would be deserted as the kids in the neighbourhood would keep clear of me, convinced I was some kind of freak.
But today, someone was already sitting on them.
A figure, about my age, swayed gently back and forth, their face partially hidden by a curtain of dark hair. As curiosity began to stir within me, I approached cautiously,
As I got closer, the stranger looked up and met my gaze. A shy smile tugged at the corners of their lips.
"Mind if I join you?" I asked, pointing to the empty swing beside him.
They nodded, slowing down slightly to respond to me. "Sure," he replied softly.
I sat down and began to swing, the rhythmic motion soothing my thoughts. For a while, we swung in silence, the only sound the creak of the chains and the distant chirping of birds.
"I'm Hana, Kang Hana," I finally said, breaking the silence.
"Heeseung Lee," he responded, his smile growing a bit wider.
And just like that, the park didn't feel quite so lonely anymore. Mother Nature had indeed brought me something special, a chance at a new friendship.
As Heeseung and I continued to swing, the calmness of the park was suddenly broken by loud, obnoxious laughter. I glanced over my shoulder and saw a group of kids from school heading our way. My heart sank.
"Well, look who it is," sneered the leader, a tall girl named Heejin. "The freak and... a new friend?"
I glanced at Heeseung, eyes wide with uncertainty. I felt a mix of fear bubble within me.
"Leave us alone," Heeseung said, trying to keep his cool "We're just here to enjoy the park."
Heejin's sneer deepened. "Oh, really? And what if we don't want to leave you alone?" She took a step closer, her minions snickering behind her.
I stood up from the swing, my face a mixture of fear and resolve. "Let's just go," I whispered to him
"No, Hana. We don't have to leave. This park is for everyone."
Heejin's expression shifted, a flicker of surprise crossing her face. She hadn't expected anyone to stand up to her. For a moment, there was a tense silence.
"You're not worth our time anyway," She finally muttered, turning on her heel. "Come on, guys. Let's go."
As they walked away, I turned to Heeseung with a look of admiration in my eyes.
"That was cool," I said softly
He shrugged, trying to playoff the tense silence still evident through the park. "Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself."
I smiled. "I'm glad you did."
As we sat back down on the swings, I realized that facing the bullies hadn't just protected our moment of peace, it had forged a stronger bond between us. And maybe, just maybe, it marked the beginning of a new chapter where I could finally be myself, without fear.
As the days of summer rolled on, Heeseung and I spent more and more time together at the park. Our friendship grew stronger with each passing day. It was refreshing to have someone who understood me, someone who didn't judge.
One afternoon, as we were leaving the park, Heeseung casually mentioned something that caught me by surprise.
"You know," he said, kicking at a pebble on the ground. "I just moved into the house next to yours."
I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at him. "Wait, you're my new next door neighbour?"
Heeseung nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, we moved in a while ago. I guess I forgot to mention it."
A wave of excitement washed over me. Not only had I found a new friend, but he was also living right next door. It felt like fate had finally decided to give me a break.
"That's amazing!" I exclaimed. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Heeseung shrugged. "I guess I wanted to be sure we were really friends before I said anything."
I giggled, feeling a sense of relief and happiness. "Well, now you know. We're definitely friends."
As we walked home together, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected turn my summer had taken. We reached our street, and Heeseung pointed to his house, a modern themed home with a well-kept garden.
"That's us," he said. "If you ever want to hang out, just come over.
I nodded, already imagining all the fun we could have. "Same goes for you. My door's always open."
From that day on, our friendship only grew stronger. We spent countless hours together, whether it was playing video games, exploring the neighbourhood, or just sitting on the porch talking about everything and nothing. Having Heeseung next door made me realize that sometimes, the best things in life come when you least expect them.
And for the first time in a long while, I felt like I truly belonged.
Heeseung and I continued to be best friends from middle school onwards and over the years, our families have grown incredibly close too. Growing up side by side through all the awkward and amazing moments of our teenage years, we went to the same high school, where our friendship only got stronger despite being so different. Heeseung, the charismatic, outgoing type who ended up a popular frat boy in college, always at the centre of attention. Meanwhile, I've always been more on the reserved side, focusing on my studies and staying out of the spotlight.
Even with our different personalities, friend groups and majors, we've stayed incredibly close. Our friendship balances us out and shows that true connections can thrive despite differences in social circles and interests.
I'm forever grateful for how many time he stood by my side during the toughest times.
I find myself daydreaming about our shared moments, my heart racing whenever we're together. The way he laughs, the kindness in his eyes, and the comfort of his presence have all woven themselves into the fabric of my affection. It leaves me all confused of our friendship leaving me both thrilled and uncertain about what the future holds.
It really is hard to admit when you have fallen in love with someone who you doubt will ever be yours.
Present Day
The campus was alive with the hum of excitement as we entered our second year of college. Thankfully, I was rooming with Minji this year, meaning that me and the girls could freely have sleepovers without having to worry about disturbing anyone else who wasn't part of our friend group. With Minji as my roommate, and the girls always around for laughter and support, this year was shaping up to be one of the best yet.
"Hey, Hana!" Heeseung called out, walking into my dorm room with his usual confident energy. He plopped down beside me, tossing a packet of chips onto my desk. "You should've came to football practice earlier, Riki stole Jay's shoes"
I smiled, shaking my head. "You know I find watching sports boring."
"True," he agreed, "but you missed out on some serious fun." Heeseung leaned back, his gaze drifting towards the hoodie he gave you for your fifteenth birthday ,which was laying on your chair. "Anyway, what are you doing tonight?"
"Just studying," I replied, gesturing to the textbook. "Got a big exam coming up."
"Always the hardworking student," he teased, a playful glint in his eyes. "But you know, you should at least take a break for once..."
"Yeah, yeah," I laughed. "What's the plan?"
"Well, the boy's are hosting a party tonight. Thought you might want to come."
I hesitated. Parties weren't really my thing, but Heeseung's hopeful expression made it hard to refuse. "Okay, I'll come," I agreed, closing my book. "But only for a little while."
"Deal," he grinned, pulling me up from my chair and into a small hug. "Let's go."
"Wait a minute!" I protested, stopping in my tracks. "I can't go to a party in these clothes. I need to change."
Heeseung glanced at my oversized sweatshirt and shorts, then chuckled. "Fair point. You've got five minutes."
"Yeah, right. More like twenty," I retorted, gently pushing him towards the door. "Now out. I'll meet you in the hallway."
He raised his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. I'll be right outside. Don't leave me waiting too long," he said with a playful wink before stepping out.
