ABOUT ME

☆ I go by Apple (she/they) though in the past have gone by Iris.

☆ Am in my very late 20s; Filipino (Southeast Asian); neurodivergent; demi & bi.

☆ I write speculative fiction almost exclusively: that means high and low fantasy, soft and hard sci-fi. I’m also trying to embrace the inner romance writer I left behind in my childhood.

☆ I was active on writeblr ‘round late 2019 as irisjaye. ^^ There was no drama or fixed reason for disappearing - my clinical inattentiveness just did its thing.

☆ I am back and testing the waters with writeblr today because I want to pursue my creative writing dreams a lot more seriously. And that includes finding + building community.

☆ I also frequent Twitter and Discord. I co-moderate a very small server for ADHD writers and enjoy impulsively joining servers 😛

ABOUT THIS BLOG

☆ My goal this time is to focus on writing output: be it worldbuilding, excerpts, artwork, story meta, productivity updates, and so on. That means fewer posts that are plain advice, inspiration, prompts, pegs.

☆ I would however love to reblog fellow writers’ writing output, not just my own ^^

☆ With a bias, I would love to support + connect with: * — authors from South, Southeast and Southwest Asia * — neurodivergent and chronically ill authors * — authors writing wlw and nonbinary characters <3 * — authors in their 20s or older! I’m near my 30s and it’s not easy to find writers in my age bracket anymore.

☆ My asks and DMs are open indefinitely. I’m not a speedy replier but I’m very friendly, love sending emotional support, and have been told I exhibit mom or big sister behavior 🥴

Her life ran on autopilot now. The continuous relay of six hour shifts, rotating between night and day, seemed to be the strongest sense of time she understood. Her off days swung variously between feeling interminable and fleeting.

Novac [#wip: novac] NA, urban fantasy/mystery. The woods of Novac are haunted, and it's all Callum Sullivan's fault. Features: supernatural creatures, magic, trauma, queer characters of colour, found families, no romance, multiple POVs, exploring platonic and familial relationships, body horror, existential crisis, losing and finding yourself, coping mechanisms, the language of grief Or, What would I change about the show Supernatural? Almost everything but the general outline.

Grimm [#wip: grimm] NA, fantasy/romance. After Eris saves the world, who saves her? Features: magic, multiple POVs, court politics, corruption, the aftermath of war, coping with trauma, imprisonment, fairytale elements, life after being the Chosen One, the language of grief, love is both the question and the answer Or, What happens to the Chosen One after the prophecy is fulfilled?

Reaper [#wip: reaper] NA, urban fantasy/dark romance. The only humans who see Reapers are the ones who are already on their way to dead. Kat proves to be an exception. Features: magic, supernatural creatures, crime, body horror, corruption, grey to dark morality, bad influences, murder, revenge, pining, we can make each other worse Or, What happens when the only one who understands you is the personification of death? Kill more people, so you can keep hanging out, obviously.

Liar, liar [#wip: liar] NA, contemporary/romance. Just because she's a liar doesn't mean she's a quitter. Features: third-person POV, chronic pain, insecurity, loneliness, the early twenties romantic experience, depressed and anxious characters of colour, pining, therapy, fake dating Or, What happens when you accidentally fake date your unrequited crush? Hold onto why it's unrequited because they're out here trying to win Boyfriend of the Year, and you can't handle it.

oh gosh, we're going back to one of my first wip's...

i think i started this about 4-5 years ago and left it unfinished?

the short version of it is: about a teen who has recurring nightmares about her father's death a minute after midnight, the time the accident happened

frankly, it was a very young me who wrote this, not even realizing that i could write characters who weren't white and could represent my culture instead. clearly, i've grown a lot from there, and while i have a fondness for this wip, i doubt i'll ever go back and finish it haha.
