Warnings: betrayal, stabbing, blood, wounds, trust issues, fade to black, guns, mention of murder, knife
Whumpee walked into the warehouse Friend had asked to meet them at. They weren't sure why Friend wanted to meet them there or what Friend had to show them, but they were more than willing to meet them. That's what friends do after all.
They froze as they walked through the door. This was wrong. This was all wrong. They opened their mouth to call out, ready to run, but a blinding, sharp pain in their back stopped them. The pain radiated through their body.
Whumpee's trembling legs began to give out, but strong arms wrapped around them keeping them from falling. "Isn't this amazing," Friend Whumper breathed into their ear.
Whumpee's head was swimming. The warehouse was filled with various stolen goods, guns, and other instruments of crime. What had Friend done? "H-H-Horrifffffyinnnnnnggg," Whumpee managed to stammer out.
"Ah-Ah, none of that, Whumpee," Whumper said, tightening their grip on Whumpee. "I want you to understand exactly why I brought you here."
Whumpee opened their mouth to protest, but Whumper twisted the knife in their side. Whumpee screamed their pain, their world whiting out.
"The police are on their way. They'll be here any minute."
"C-C-Catchhhh........yyyyou-ou-ou-ou," Whumpee gasped. They could feel their blood flowing down their back. The police had to arrive in time to save them. They just had to.
"That's where you come in my friend. The warehouse is in your name. Everything here is in your name. You stole all these things. You used these guns to kill all those people. You, Whumpee. Not me."
Whumpee didn't have the energy to be horrified. Didn't have the energy to scream their anger and horror. They barely had the energy to keep their eyes open.
"And the best part is," Whumper said excitedly, "I'll get the credit for catching you. For stopping you. Isn't that a wonderful thing?"
"NNNNNN," Whumpee managed to whisper. Their head was swimming and everything was becoming hazier and hazier.
"Don't worry, Whumpee. I'll be sure to visit you in jail. I'm sure they're going to be finding evidence of your crimes for years to come."
Whumpee heard the sound of approaching sirens. Heard the sound and hoped the police would see Whumper for what they were. Hoped that they would be saved. They hoped all of these things, but realized it didn't matter. Their tenuous grip on consciousness wasn't enough to keep them awake. As they slipped into oblivion, they hoped that someone would see Whumper for the monster that they were. And that they wouldn't pay for Whumper's crimes.

Assorted Whump Prompts
Whumpees taking really hard hits in front of caretaker, but there’s no time to stop and check on them. Caretaker has to keep doing what they’re doing while conscious of whumpee knocked flat on their back and struggling to get up.
Whumpee trying to still participate with the team while sick. Has to keep stopping to puke. They hide it from everyone, but caretaker who tries to get them to slow down.
Fevers that come on suddenly. They’re fine in the morning, shaky and aching by the time they see caretaker at home that evening.
Stoic whumpees having panic attacks after a trauma. Trying to hide them because nobody else is having any reactions or the incident was minor.
Won’t go to the doctor and now has to go to the Emergency Room.
Whumpee that’s doubled over in pain. Caretaker has to help them walk, slowly.
Whumpee that’s too dizzy to stand. Caretaker makes them sit down and stay down.
Whumpee insisting they’re okay after a huge hit to the head just to immediately puke and almost pass out.
Feverish whumpee wakes up in a hospital and freaks out on caretaker. They have to be sedated.
Whumpee coming in and out of consciousness due to illness or pain medicine and having fragmented conversations with caretaker.
Whumpee hiding a long illness until caretaker notices weight loss and/or shaking hands one day.
Caretaker taking whumpee to the ER because they can’t hold down water long enough to take medicine.
Stoic whumpee that really, really can’t handle seeing his own blood.
Whumpee knowing they’re going to probably have to be intubated soon and trying to prepare caretaker.
“It’s not as bad as it looks,” when it actually is very much as bad as it looks.
“I’ve got it,” when they actually very much do not got it.
Whumpee has been sick or injured for a very long time and is super weak. Gets mad when they spill water trying to lift the cup to their mouth.
“I think something’s wrong,” after drinking something that tasted off.
Cold sweat knowing they’re going to be sick in a car.
Falling asleep standing up because they’re exhausted. Bonus if they’re talking to someone and suddenly wake up because they reached out to grab their arm as they swayed.
Whumpee getting the breath knocked out of them. Caretaker asking if they’re okay, but they can’t respond just lay on the ground and gasp for air.
Telemachus complains about a headache and Athena flips her shit because God damn it she's already trying to make sure this kid's dad gets home in one piece she CANNOT try to guide him through a teen pregnancy on top of that
“What was that?”
“What was what?”
“What hit me?”
“The floor.”
“Why was the floor up there?”
“Because you passed the fu-. Hold on. What did you just say to me?”
“How’d the floor get up there…with my head?”
“Wow. You really did hit hard.”
“You saw me get hit?”
“No I heard you get hit. I mean do the hitting.”
“What?”
“You passed out, bro. Are you listening to me?”
“Why?”
“Because I know what I’m talking about sometimes.”
“No, I mean why did I pass out?”
“I don’t know.”
“Am I okay?”
“I don’t know.”
“Is that my blood?”
“I. Don’t. Know. I don’t know how to do this! You always take care of me! …Actually I do know that one. Yeah, that’s your blood.”
“Your…hands are shaking.”
“Yeah well. Adrenaline.”
“I don’t feel good.”
“I can hear the ambulance. Should be hear soon.”
“I really don’t feel good.”
“Me neither.”
“I’m gonna throw up.”
“No. No. Do not. You wait for that ambulance.”
“Why am I on the ground?”
“I don’t know. Looked like a seizure or something.”
“I’ve never had a seizure.”
“I know. Which is why I’m freaked out. Do you ever stop talking? I’m about to knock you out again.”
You are absolutely right. And I raise you, sweaty forehead kisses when they're conscious/lucid enough to appreciate them. Best trope by far
can i get some appreciation for BEDSIDE ANGST??
hospital bedside angst of course but any sort will do. especially if character A is in pain/delirium or unconscious or intubated and character B can't do anything but sit there and hope and pray and talk even if A can't hear them. there's the sense of betrayal.. they made it home/to the hospital/wherever and are supposed to be SAFE now they're supposed to be OKAY but now what. B can only just now watch and wait and nothing else. especially love if A has like an illness or infection and B can't do a single thing to help..
