I hope what you’re about to read is a wakeup call for certain people and a reminder for anyone whose dream is to meet their idol one day that there are boundaries with regards to how far you can and should go to achieve that goal.

I started this post when I was waiting for my bus at the Greyhound station in Toronto, Canada last night. This city should ring a bell for basically any member of the Mendes army as this is where our homeboi lives. I consider myself a Shawn Mendes fan since the end of March as of this year, so I am a fairly new member of the fandom (the same way this blog is fairly new to shawnblr). I haven’t seen him in concert nor met him in any way yet.      I have been traveling through Canada the past days since I didn’t have classes due to our Thanksgiving Break in the U.S. As a lot of other people who follow their idols on social media, I became aware of the fact that Shawn has been back in Toronto since Monday of this week pretty soon. Obviously, the first thought that comes to mind in that case would be something like: How cool would it be to meet your idol while both of you were in the same city?

I argue that those of the Mendes army who have been around long enough know what issues there have been and still are about fans following Shawn, waiting for him at airports, hotels or even his home - to be blunt, stalking him. Recently though, I have noticed more uproar about fans invading Shawn’s personal space and this, people, is a whole different level we’re talking about. But let me share my experience of this with you, one that I in fact have made yesterday.

I am so fucking angry. Y`all always say "oh Shawn needs a gf" "he`s so lonely" "he needs to get laid" but as soon as a video of Shawn and a girl appears, y`all go crazy. Man, this girl got so much hate online, hell, her friend literally had to go on twitter and tell you that she`s a fan, that they`re not dating, that she has a boyfriend because of your crazy behaviour.

First of all, shame on you. I`ve seen comments on twitter and instagram about how "Shawn has some explaining to do" "imma beat this girl up" "this bitch better get her hands off my man" and vice versa. Like, are you fucking serious?! Shawn owes you nothing. We`ve all been blessed with all this content these past few days, I know, but he owes you nothing. He doesn`t have to explain who he`s hanging out with, who he likes, what he`s doing. It`s none of your fucking business. And i`m sorry to break it to you, but you`re not gonna end up marrying or having kids with him. No, you`ll not lock eyes with him at his concert and he`s gonna fall in love with you. Grow the fuck up, seriously. This man can`t go out and have a good time with friends without you documenting every single one of his moves.

Second of all, who gives you the right to slut-shame a random girl? There were so many comments of so called "fans" threatening her and calling her a bitch, slut.. I mean, hello?! The fuck is wrong with you?

We are here to support Shawn and his work. We are promoting his music and fuck yeah, we`re his army. Supporting, standing behind him. But remember, we are just fans. And most of us wouldn`t even know him if it wasn`t because of his music! So calm the fuck down. Shawn can make out, fuck or date whoever he wants, because it`s his life!

I feel so sorry for Shawn`s future girlfriend/wife tbh. She`s gonna get so much hate just because some fans think Shawn`s their property. And I bet that`s one of the reasons why Shawn has no girlfriend yet. Yes sweetie, he sees the hate and all these comments! He sees the jealousy and all these wild assumptions! And we all know that Shawn`s way to good for this world, so he won`t say anything to prevent more drama.

Let him live his life. He`s a workaholic and thinks of his work 24/7 to make himself, his friends, family and us proud. And he`s being so active these last couple of days because he knows how much we love that and wants to keep us updated !But please, for the love of God, let him enjoy his free time. Yes, he can go to clubs and bars, you`re not his mom and it`s nothing you should worry about. Yes, he can flirt with a girl, because it`s nothing you should care about. Let him enjoy life and live it to the fullest. Don`t show your phones into his precious face, give him privacy. Just because he`s famous doesn`t give you the permission to invade his privacy! And if you disagree with me on that, you`re not better than the other fuckers called paparazzi.
