I never told you but I really fell in love with LOTR this summer. I watched it for the first time when I was like 7 years old but I was to little to understand it. What I liked about it was Frodo, I already had a little crush on him. So when this summer I rewatched the films I thought: “my crush is still going strong”

He gives me courage

I don’t know if it’s just me but one of the LOTR moments that I love the most and that makes me cry all the time is the battle of Weathertop. I remember rewatching it after having finished the trilogy and crying because of it. I mean, knowing how Frodo will have to leave Sam at the end also because of his wound and the fact that he will never heal from it makes me physically and psychologically sick. Moreover in the films, as soon as Frodo is stabbed Sam runs to him and Frodo says “oh Sam” with that super sweet and grateful tone and Sam just smiles to him. And in the meanwhile Aragorn that fight all the Nazgûl’s alone and risks his life for his little hobbits. God all of this makes me sob.

So, you’re telling me that if it wasn’t for Bilbo’s little jump scare we would have looked at Frodo unbuttoning his t-shirt fully? Oh okay… I don’t really mind 😩🥹🫠

Can we talk about how Frodo’s real smiles during the trauma of the quest are practically only because of Sam?

Look just at this photo, how he smiles knowing Sam would come with him. Despite the horrors he knows he will have to overcome he is happy because Sam is the only person he needs to feel really happy even while carrying his burden.

Sam for him is love, home, trust, joy.

Romantically or not, they complete each other, they need each other and so when they are together, it can be happening even the worst thing (like being about to die on Mount Doom), but they feel happy, they feel complete.

They are just one thing. It’s impossible to divide them. Think about it, is there one scene in the books/films in which Frodo and Sam aren’t together or aren’t thinking about each other? No, there isn’t.

So when you have to explain what having a soulmate REALLY means talk about them.
