Heads Up 7 Up!

Heads Up 7 Up!

I was tagged by @tabswrites for this one! Thank you so much!

Around 7 lines from my WIP Realms of Loss -

They’re opening the carriage, it seems. Though - if he [Lucian] had to describe it - one could say it was really more of a cage than anything else. The chilling creak of frozen iron pops in his ears, as one by one, the locks and gears are removed, like a puzzle coming undone before him. Lucian leaned forward, watching the scene unfold. His curiosity, however, was soon replaced with growing outrage.

Tell-All Tuesday!

I was tagged by @moondust-bard for this one, here!

Rules/Directions: In a new post, share with us an element about your WIP’s worldbuilding. Don’t forget to use the tag MS: Tell-All Tuesday

I'm going with my WIP Tales of Wilted Flowers for this one!

THE GOBLIN CLANS -

In the golden-grass plains of Ravaryn, live great nomadic goblin clans, organized in tribes that have a strong hierarchical system based on combat prowess and what conquests an individual has. Though their lifestyle is majorly based on wayfinding and travel, they do have some settled cities that serve as outposts for traveling hordes and that are known for being the center of trade in the eastern half of their continent - for example, their capital, the city of Mosrak near the Ravarian Desert, is home to the biggest and most powerful goblin leaders and clans, as well as Ravaryn's greatest marketplace (of both good and evil items).

Goblin society is vastly matriarchal, and their leaders are chosen through trials that test their merit as warriors and strategists. A goblin's coming-of-age ceremony usually involves heading out into the world to conquer something new, as goblins strive to be the best at anything they do (something inherited from their fae heritage, since they are, in Ravaryn, a subspecies of faery). A goblin's greatest honor is to undergo the ceremony that declares them the strongest or smartest member of their clan and become the right-hand warrior to their tribe's leader.

Goblins are among the richest and most influential species of Ravaryn, only second to the Elves of the city-state of Allanar. Though their trade network ranges far and wide within Ravaryn Goblins are not known for any seafaring exploits and since they worship the Goddess of Desert and Travels, they consider the sea (and therefore its god) as something lesser.

Last Line Tag!

Thank you so much for the Tag, @anoelleart! I was travelling for almost the entirety of last week, so only now I've managed to catch up with the tags from that period (:

Tagging (gently): @lassiesandiego, @unstablewifiaccess, @sm-writes-chaos, @clairelsonao3, @steh-lar-uh-nuhs, @oh-no-another-idea, @your-absent-father, @rickie-the-storyteller, @jay-avian and @doublegoblin

(Because this snippet makes absolutely no sense without context, I'm doing a "Last Snippet" variation instead)

This is a snippet from my WIP (still very work in progress/workshopping), called Realms of Loss, which I've been working on for a while now. This was the last thing I worked on recently solely because of the fact I was scared to work on The Last Wrath or Tales of Wilted Flowers while traveling/unfocused lmao.

"I am the Crown Prince. Sole remaining heir of a dynasty, of the House of a Thousand Stars. I'm not some boy." His voice shook, not confident and mighty as he willed it to sound, but desperate. Archyvel wasn't trying to convince her - he was trying to convince himself. "I will not be afraid." Nesryn tilted her head, eyes softening. "But you are."

For whichever character you fancy, what simple activity that most people do / can do scares them?

Thank you for the Ask, @trancetales!

For whichever character you fancy, what simple activity that most people do / can do scares them?

I chose one character from each of my Main WIPs to answer this one!

(From Tales of Wilted Flowers)

Neoma'ka Ornasi is a fearsome goblin warrior. She has vanquished beasts and defeated mercenaries! And yet, she is dreadfully terrified of the sea (having strong Thalassophobia, a trait that I too share), though she is also a weak swimmer and an even worse diver, so her fear does have a reason. She cannot fathom why people would ever want to leave the safety of the mainland to venture into uncharted waters with untold monsters within - even worse, why people would consider sailing for a living, like the many pirates and sailors she has encountered throughout the story!

(From The Last Wrath)

Bryn Seperi is deathly afraid of fire due to a certain traumatic event in his backstory. Due to this, activities as simple as cooking, sitting around a fire, or walking into a candle-lit store can turn into terrifying flashbacks if he is not extremely vigilant, so he avoids all of that completely.

(From Enchanted Illusions)

Evangeline Daemitya is afraid of needles, something that turns sewing, patching things up and even getting a blood draw, into bone-chilling situations to her. Getting injections is so terrifying to her that she sometimes passes out at the mere sight of it.

Heads Up Seven Up

@mysticstarlightduck tagged me in this, and I encourage anyone who sees this to play along! (I have so many writer friends it's hard to remember the names of everyone I want to see oops) ANYWAY, last seven lines I wrote are as follows:

He bowed low before leaving us.

Alone with my master I wobbled to stay upright. The rush of healing had worn off. "So what do you make of this?" I pointed to the new, stubby growth on my scalp.

Master Caricus smiled widely. "You grassy things are always quick to recover but this I've never seen happen so fast. I think you're ready for the next step."
