I'll go with a snippet from The Forgotten Ones - namely the beginning of the flashback to the day the Iron Inquisition invaded the continent and Sorin escaped the bloodshed.

TW. Medieval siege of a city, bloodshed, medieval warfare

[...] Screams echoed, ubiquitous, and the familiar clang of metal against metal sent chills down her spine. Sorin sprung to her feet, pushing past harried servants running down the hall,  practically throwing herself against the parapets of the balcony to overlook the chaos below. Citizens, traveling merchants, and nobles alike raced down the once peaceful streets, fleeing from enemy soldiers, clad in armor unlike she’d ever seen before. And the sights she saw, were incinerated into her mind forever - people dragged from their homes, parents killed in front of their children. A woman, trying to escape her pursuers, throws herself out of a window in a panic, falling dead and broken on the ground below. 

The overwhelming scent of smoke and blood filled her nostrils as the winds raged around the Keep, the smell of destruction pungent even from a distance. Fire roared in the distance, and tearing her eyes away from the bloodshed in the streets below, Sorin saw that the city walls - once considered unbreakable - were toppling down, consumed by flames that seemed to reach for the skies, filling the air with tar-like soot.

Sorin's hands shook, holding the parapets in a white-knuckled grip for a moment more before pushing herself away from it. Taking a deep breath, the girl steadied herself - those soldiers would inevitably reach the Keep. Sorin’s heart was racing, anger, and hatred mixing together in the worst possible way. 

As chaos continued to rage on, Sorin tried to steel herself and act - she was the daughter of the greatest warrior that had ever lived. Reikar blood flowed in her veins, the blood of the Elder Guardians. She was raised for this - she should, in theory, know what to do. But the soldiers below pushed forward, death spreading as fast as a hurricane, Sorin realized she was afraid, even though she tried to force it down. 

A loud boom echoed out, and the walls of the Keep shook. Sorin screamed, despite herself, falling to her knees and grasping at the floor to steady herself. After the tremor stopped, Sorin crawled to her feet, cautiously peeking over the parapets - down below, she saw a mechanic monstrosity, built out of raw iron and covered in glowing runes. It seemed like it was supposed to be some sort of battering ram, except much more powerful. More destructive. 

It hit the Keep’s iron gates with a force, rattling the walls once more, and before Sorin could even move, she heard the familiar whizzing of an arrow through the air and scrambled backward just in time to avoid being hit by it in the eye. It still scraped her cheekbone and drew a thin line of blood. “Fuck!”  Sorin cursed in anger, partly at herself for letting her guard down this badly. 

Sorin ran away from the balcony, into the Keep. And just in time. A rain of arrows surged in the horizon line, clashing exactly where she just stood - apparently, the attack took out some of the guards who were lined up on the upper floor, because she saw one of them topple over the walls, dragged down by the weight of his armor and disappearing downwards. 

The tremors continued, insistent, as she ran down the corridor. Cracks began to show on the marble walls beside her, and she wondered how much longer the Keep would hold. Finally reaching her room, Sorin was only able to collect her broadsword and a travel cloak before a deafening crash thundered through her surroundings - looking over her shoulders, she saw that some of the corridor’s wall had toppled and that the soldiers had managed to breach the Keep’s gates below. The additional clashing of metal and bloodcurdling screams that joined the ominous cacophony confirmed her suspicion. 

Pushing herself up on her bed, Sorin didn’t waste a second. She had to get out of there before the soldiers reached the upper floor. She had to… Dread interrupted her thoughts, her heart sinking. Arion. She had to find him - her lover was no fighter. He was a mage, yes, but not a warrior, and his sister was but a child. If those soldiers found the duo… Sorin shuddered at the thought, feeling faint. 

Dragging herself to her feet with determination, her fingers wrapped around the hilt of her broadsword with a deathly grip, Sorin raced to the corner of her room, where she knew a secret passage was hidden. Her father had been prepared, made sure that should something like this happen, she would be able to get away - Sorin only wished his caution had been only a father’s overprotective paranoia, and that this wouldn’t have become a reality,

But still, she couldn’t be more thankful for that caution now. 

On the corridor outside, among fallen marble stones and crumbling dust, she saw a servant girl scramble to get across. Sorin opened her mouth to call the girl in, to help her escape alongside her, but she was already out of sight by the time Sorin managed to collect her thoughts. 

Saddened, Sorin wished hat the servant girl would find another way out, though the rational, treasonous part of her mind whispered that it was unlikely. Shaking her head, Sorin reached behind her wardrobe and, with some effort, managed to topple it, revealing more of the stone wall behind it - most notably, one of the stones was salient, standing out amidst the others. Without a second thought, she pushed it, and after a daunting second, the wall began to split, revealing a dusty old staircase, cracked by time and lack of use, on the other side. 

Sorin straightened herself, slipping the travel cloak over her shoulders and readjusting her grip on her sword. The sounds drew closer, haunting, and Sorin practically leaped down the stairs, looking over her shoulder a few times. 

She only hoped Arion and his sister hadn’t been caught in the crossfire already, as she quickened her pace down the stairs. [...]

Thanks for the ask, @zackprincebooks! So sorry for the late response, it's been a crazy week!

🌵- What did you start with first for your WIP? Worldbuilding, character, or plot?

Supernova Initiative: Worlbuilding and character development! The plot of the story changed DRASTICALLY from the initial iterations of it, but the basic vibes that led to the creation of the current main characters were already there, same for some of the base world elements, though those evolved and changed a lot too!

The Forgotten Ones: Characters! This WIP is actually a very old story of mine that I had completely forgotten (oops, pun! lol) about for a few years, then rediscovered, reworked, and turned into something I liked again. The first thing I came up with while reworking this old story into a new one was the characters! The world and the plot changed A LOT and many times from what was the original idea until it turned into the current plot.

Song of Thorns: World and Plot! I originally had a completely different idea for who the main characters were going to be (eventually scrapped that one and created the current ones) but the main vibes of the world, gothic, gloomy, vampiric medieval fantasy + some of the plot basis were already there!

A cyborg/robot created for entertainment, Meridian long since yearned to know what it truly meant to live and be human. Finding an unexpected opportunity to rebel against their creator, Meridian broke free of the coding they'd been trapped to since the moment of their creation and escaped from the Khosmonian Galaxies in search of a future where they could truly be free. Naive, innocent, and painfully unaware of how real humanoid interactions actually work, especially in such a conflicted set of galaxies, Meridian wandered completely lost for a while, trying to not fall back into the hands of their inventor - who would for sure reprogram them and stop them from achieving their dream of experiencing real life - until they met a strange, but kind, group of thieves and space adventurers who became their friends and the closest thing to a family they ever had. Perhaps being human won't be such an unattainable dream as they thought.

Pronouns - They/Them (main pronouns), He/Him (occasionally)

Age - They have been alive for less than a decade but have the appearance/biology, mental age, and personality of a young adult in their early 20s.

Current Role - Part of the main cast

Appearance - Meridian has medium to long hair, synthetic, which they can change/choose the color of at will (their favorite hair colors are bright neon pink, cyan, or deep gold). Their skin is pale and perfectly smooth, akin to a porcelain doll, and some of their robotic joints are visible, with golden wiring/servos within (like an automaton, but high tech and sentient). Their eyes can also change color at will, and they usually match their eye color to their hair color of the day because they like symmetry. Meridian is considerably tall, standing at 6,2ft or around 187cm, and because they tend to wear heels (they like it) with wheels, they're usually even taller. Their features are rather androgynous, though their design leans more towards a somewhat masculine appearance.

Weather - A sunny day in the middle of spring

Sky - The night sky is filled with stars

Magical power - He doesn't have one but I think that if he did have one it would either be Fire Manipulation (he has a very energetic, 'fiery' personality and has a generally fire-coded color scheme) or Shield Creation/Force Field Creation (he is fiercely protective of those he loves and would do anything to keep them safe and shield them from harm)

Plant - Snapdragon ("The snapdragon is a fiery and fierce flower that symbolizes strength, courage, and defiance. It is often used to ward off evil spirits, bad luck, and negative influences. The snapdragon can also express the determination and resilience of a person, a group, or a cause.")

Plant - Burgundy Dahlia (This kind of Dahlia is typically associated with sorrows, death and a warning of betrayal. In general, Dahlias can also symbolize finding inner strength.)

Vampires are also often transformed into monsters against their will, much like Quince believes his power did to him)

Hey! So I'm bored and want to do something fun, so here it goes a new OC tag game!

(I originally posted this in the wrong place lol, because I was hella tired yesterday, but here it goes - a repost on my actual blog lmao)

I'll go with some of the cast from Scrapyard Boys!

Valen Cassidy

... has never dated anyone before and despite his usual brash, occasionally hawkish, and extroverted personality, actually feels really awkward/too shy to ask anyone out

... likes pop rock, pop punk, and heavy metal. his music taste varies between happy-go-lucky, upbeat, feel-good songs and the most aggressive "I hate the world"-type heavy metal

... hyper fixates on arcade games and hates losing. like, he'll throw a full-on pity party or start an argument if he loses In front of other people

... can only sleep properly if he has his dinosaur plushie with him but will never let anyone find out

...can mess someone up in a fight, especially if he hates that person or if that person threatened his friends. like he is freakishly strong and has a very short temper - his punches are devastating and his superpower isn't even super-strength

... is a night owl and hates waking up too early. is the most grumpy, angry kid in the face of the earth up until 10AM even if he drinks a truckload of coffee

... has some anger issues and feels super bad when he accidentally snaps at/says something rude to someone without a reason - he doesn't mean to be rude, and if he happens to be stressed and loses his temper, he is very harsh on himself afterward

... can actually bake pretty well and loves making cupcakes

... hates horror movies with a burning passion but will watch them if dared just to uphold his "tough guy" reputation, and then promptly won't sleep for two nights straight afterwards

... since his power is Electrical Conduction, he can actually charge things, like cellphones and laptops, etc, if he does so very carefully

Quince Warren

... likes 80s pop music and early 2000s alternative rock songs, especially grunge

... prefers to solve things diplomatically or by talking it out, because his powers are usually lethal to others and he's scared of using his powers to this day

... likes waking up early, usually before anybody else, and sleeps so soundly he could literally sleep through the apocalypse if it happened

... could not dance properly if his life depended on it

... drinks more coffee than is probably healthy, but likely doesn't realize it isn't ideal

... cries while watching romantic comedies and gets way too invested when watching soap operas

... has unnatural pain tolerance - can probably break an arm and legit not realize anything is wrong until someone points it out

... will eat pizza for breakfast if unsupervised

... is unhingedly good at hide-and-seek to the point that his friends will give up looking for him and he'll simply emerge, seemingly from out of nowhere, and they'll have no idea where he came from

... is very respectful to others and despises people who don't respect other's boundaries

Jordan Raith

... suffers from chronic insomnia and gets pissed off when he can't sleep even though he knows to expect it, takes sleeping medicine but his superhuman metabolism refuses to let it work

... likes all things macabre, gothic, and dark, ranging from 1800s gothic romance novels to early 2000s teen horror movies, will 100% enjoy the heck out of a Halloween party

... occasionally sleepwalks and talks in his sleep almost every night

... adores fast food, especially from diners, and his favorite food to order is strawberry milkshakes with a plate of tuna sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies

... loves listening to music and is almost always wearing his headphones, has a playlist for every occasion, and his favorite music genres range from moody, dark aesthetic songs to cheesy pop songs

... despite singing rather well, likes to playfully sing as awfully as she can to annoy her brother (Quince)

... rarely gets into fights but has a couple of brass knuckles and a switchblade in her pockets just in case

... her power is Combustion and she has pretty bad control over it so she can either cause block-levelling explosions or less than nothing, and it's very much a problem
