notes on inkheart: dustfinger is my blorbo lol
notes on inkspell: was fenoglio destined to write this story? do cosimo and dustfinger prove that characters have agency in their stories OR is cosimo only proof that fenoglio truly cannot conceive of a good person and subconsciously creates evil characters even when he tries to create good? what does that say about fenoglio as a person? how does fenoglioās sense of ownership and entitlement complicate the story? does destiny exist or is destiny created or is it possible to pave your own path, despite the power of the writer? how does a story fill in the gaps from an authors oversight? are all stories alive like the inkworld? are they alive the moment a writer writes them down or does it take a silvertongue to read it out loud and speak it into existence? how does grief and parenthood drive the story?
notes on inkdeath: i hate fenoglio so much its unreal. and dustfinger is my blorbo lol
Kinda want to make a list of every book I read, just for fun mainly, at least the fantasy ones. I was a massive fantasy book reader as a kid and Iām pretty sure I read over a hundred by the time I even got to high school. I may do that, if I can remember all of them
Oh thatās awesome!! If you get the chance to I recommend rereading it if you want, towards the end of the series it gets really really good and intense
To my dear followers may I recommend a book series thats really good imo?
Itās called Haddix the Missing and itās a sci-fi time travel series about this kid Jonah finding out that heās not quite in the time heās supposed to be in. He, along with his sister and best friend, go on quite an adventure to figure this out all while doing their best to save time. It is a series for kids and I first found it while in junior high but now Iām 18 going on 19 and itās still one of my favorites.
It has good characters both protagonists and antagonists and some good humor, along with a hint of romance for some characters but it never makes it the main plot point which I love. And while it does start off a little slow it really gets good from the 3rd book onwards, I highly recommend checking it out if you need something new to read
(It does also have a small fandom and thatās mainly why Iām trying to get more people into it so itās not just me and three other people lmao)
reading inkdeath at the speed of a snail because every time i have to suffer through a fenoglio chapter i feel real actual rage. i dont think ive hated a fictional character to this degree in so long. and its like, theoretically, he could be fine as an exploration of authorial failures and oversights, but there is no satisfying conclusion for him to me if this man does not end up dead or treated like the real villain of the story. i cant believe no one has stabbed him yet. i cant believe he hasnt just dropped dead from heart failure. if i could send a plague on any man it would be him. this guy thinks he has the rights to an entire world just because he 'created' it but it's also established that there are so many aspects of the inkworld that he didn't bother to write about or come up with (namely: WOMEN) and they've filled out the world regardless of his intent but he still sits here and has the audacity to think that only he can come up with a satisfying conclusion and a 'happy ending' to the story. his entitlement and his narcissism and his misogyny fills me with a rage so intense it is actually embarrassing. hes not real but i want him gone. he is nothing. he is nothing to me. every action he has taken since inkspell has had a negative effect on the inkworld and everyone hates him. there is nothing he can say or do at this point to redeem himself in my eyes i want him OBLITERATED.
It has been done: Books Iāve read (some series and single books) (only fantasy)
Some but not all of: Magic Treehouse, Hank the Cowdog, Junie B Jones, spirit animals (the firs three books only). This 2 book series about these kids traveling into the past through paintings or something, Saint Anything, Fablehaven, Keeper of the Lost cities, Inkheart trilogy, The invisible Man, The Dreadful Take of Prosper Redding, My Diary from the Edge of the World, The Ministry of Suits, Scarlet and Ivy, Murder is Bad Manners, Mouseheart (only the 1st one), Thornghost, that book about the mouse and the motercycle, The Drake Equation (read this one in a day lol), Ghost Hawk, Knights of the Borrowed Dark, Weregirl, Black Lotus, Takes of the peculiar, Caraval, Percy Jackson series (just the main two), like half of Harry Potter (during the beginning of high school mainly), Moonshinerās Gold, half of the 1st arc of warrior cats, the first book of rangers apprentice, Haddix the Missing (one of my favorites besides inkheart), The Thief Lord, The Book Thief (also one of my favorites), Entwined, 13 Wishes trilogy, City of Ghosts, Echo, the first two books of The Clockwork Prince, and the outsiders, I think thatās all excluding ones I read in class, give or take a few I read in junior high that I canāt fully remember the names of.
