One thing that has been bothering me a lot is how people are summarizing Yellowjackets to a romance series when it is DEFINITELY not a romance series.

I love jackieshauna, but it bothers me a lot that you just summarize the two characters as a romantic relationship and most of their feelings for each other are not romantic. Look, Shauna doesn't know how to separate her own feelings, so much so that in the future we see that she technically "hates" her own daughter because the feelings she has for her are mixed with Jackie's, you know?

And in my view, Shauna didn't know how to separate feelings of envy from romantic feelings, she often desired Jackie but exchanged that feeling for envy. When we see that scene where Jackie is dancing at the party and Shauna is standing there watching her we can see how she desires her friends but also feels jealous of them. She wanted to be in Jackie's place at the same time as she wanted to have her.

I have so much to say about the complexity of this relationship that my god I could write and write and it still wouldn't be enough. When Shauna eats her best friend's meat. She doesn't just do this out of a romantic act or guilt but also out of envy and anger. The girl doesn't know how to separate her emotions and doesn't know what to do with them until she reaches her limit and explodes.

My god I wish someone understood my logic and how I feel about them. Am I crazy for thinking this? I don't know but it actually makes sense in my head. anyway, I just wish the yellowjackets fandom would pay attention to these characters other than when it involves them in a relationship
