I just hate them

I do think it’s funny when people act like book Alicent was this old great disturbingly evil did I forget to mention old woman and they massacred her in the show.

When the first mention of book Alicent you get is her being a precocious young girl who read books to old King Jaehaerys … and then you meet show Alicent and she’s a precocious young girl who reads books to Princess Rhaenyra lol.

Not to mention the scandalous sexually manipulative old woman who schemed herself into poor innocent little Viserys’s bed that evil book Alicent was all of ….“18” when she married Viserys. Just 3-4 years older than when she married him in the show.

Like….?

I was thinking about this ask @agentrouka-blog got about Sansa being self-absorbed, and while I know fans habitually condemn Sansa for treating their favs the wrong way, I found the idea that Sansa of all characters is self-absorbed very strange. She is forced into a marriage with a grown man who could have chosen not to marry her, who has been married before, who has a lover, and when he declares that in spite of her being a child he wants her and that he will have sex with her, she thinks, He is as frightened as I am. Of course, she still doesn’t want to have sex with him, she doesn’t instantly warm up to him, and she makes it clear she may never want to have sex with him, but that moment alone disproves the notion that she is self-absorbed. She is terrified and yet, she thinks about how he feels too.

And this is not the only time that she thinks of the feelings of others even if they’ve wronged her. But let’s stick with Sansa and Tyrion, in fact, let’s stay in the same chapter.

Begging y’all to stop conflating Alicent with Cat. It’s led people to think Cat would kill Jon in his cradle if she knew RLJ, which is something Cersei would do and what bookwise she thinks Cat is weak for not doing. You’ve completely gone off course now. It may not serve fan immersion but Book!Alicent is Cersei coded and Show!Alicent - even as she is framed sympathetically - is a hot mess of whatever the show needs her to be in relation to Rhaenyra.
