howland supposes that it is because he is a parent himself that robb was hearing lady catelyn in the man’s words. he supposed that the boy was not wrong, as he continued to speak but he did wish that the boy did not have to go to war. he wished that the boy would not see the horrors that he and himself had seen at the tower of joy. he prayed that the boy would not find his sisters too late, as ned had endured when he was at his side. dark green eyes scan the boy, wanting to see something of his late friend in him, and he finds it in how the boy holds himself with a certainty that he had not seen in lady catelyn. “ ‘ tis true, but do know that losing everything is a hollow victory.” as hollow as the last war howland had come south for was. “if you can find some say to sue for peace... i do not think your men would find you weak for it, not if it meant your sisters could return home.” as his meera and jojen never would.
