I saw this store in Los Angeles in the 80’s and went in and asked if DeForest Kelley owned the store. The guy at the counter sighed and said he was asked that all the time and no it was just the owner’s last name. He said “You Star Trek people must love that DeForest guy!” I replied “Well yes, we do!”

I would have loved to have DeForest’s name in two foot letters.

Do you trust me? Pt.2

And to think, I thought things would work out for me now. I was an independent, young woman who could take care of herself. But paradise never lasts, so obviously, we just have to have a tragic accident happen. Boy, I can't wait to get the medical bill for this one. Earlier, I was going out shopping with Natalie, she needed new clothes so we went into town. Annie decided to tag alongside us for this adventure. Now, leaving Joy and Sara home alone probably wasn't the best idea but, we couldn't argue with them. And I used to think I was stubborn. Anyways, I was walking around an old thrift store I found, they had lots of CDs and ancient things like that. Seeing as it was 2266 everything that most people from the past would think is normal isn't. We drove back home. As I pulled into the driveway, Joy drags Sara into the car and screams at me to drive to the hospital. Sara was covered in blood and, from the looks of it, had a broken leg along with ribs. I wasn't trained in the medical field but I sure knew what to look for injury-wise. I drove 30 over the speed limit to get to the hospital, the bright interior almost blinded me as I yelled out that we needed a doctor. I sat in the waiting room for hours, they took Sara away yesterday sometime. I haven't slept and was waiting till I knew what happened to her. " Ms. Sackfield," a doctor came up to me, " she made it. If you want to see her she's in room 007." I was running out of the room before he finished his sentence. I sprinted to room 7, getting dizzy due to lack of sleep. Sitting beside her, I cupped her hand inside my own. " Urg, what, what happened...?" Sara woke up. " I don't know but we brought you here because you would die otherwise," I replied. To this day I still don't know what happened or what it was that did this to her but, for the rest of her stay at the hospital, my mind was elsewhere, back home. My mind was back to the day I left my parent's house. Back to when my life changed for the better or worse.
