I think it would be interesting if omegas wore collars/necklaces(chokers)/other high neck things on a regular basis to protect the most vulnerable parts of their neck if they have scent glands there. Maybe this only comes off with partner(s)/at home with their pack. I could see collars being popular courting gifts when the relationship is very serious

Neck Coverings are very popular for omegas. Neck Coverings are not only gifts from partners but empower Omegas in the Omega’s Rights Movement. Neck Coverings, especially collars, originally indicated Omegas as property, but now Omegas wear them proudly, much like the LGBTQIA+ community turning derogatory terms against their original use and meaning. Neck Coverings are not meant to limit and control Omegas but to protect them and keep them safe from unwanted attention. Some Neck Coverings are even worn just for fashion.

Omegas do not need to be in a relationship to wear neck coverings. In fact, many Omegas get their first collar with their biological mother and/or pack mother. It is a tradition in many packs and indicates a prideful omegan presentation. Younger Omegas might just wear chokers or necklaces to cover their still developing scent glands.

Collars are sources of excitement for couples because they are the promise rings of Omegaverse. New collars often indicate a future engagement, so they are a topic of gossip. Much like rings, omegas who want to take their relationships a step farther might hint at or show their partner collars they like.

However, collars are not required. Many omegas prefer them as an embodiment of their strength and beauty as well as a layer of protection, but some Omegas find neck coverings uncomfortable against their scent glands, see them as a way to justify past prejudices against omegas, or just prefer to go without them.

Could you elaborate on “over-heating” and “over-rutting”? Or just link to something where you talked about it in detail?

Okay so over-heating and over-rutting is something that I came up on my own after I saw this post. It’s a condition that makes an Alpha or an Omega experience an abnormal and severe rut/heat. It is something one is born with and it’s genetic, although not necessarily hereditary. 

In it’s essence over-heat and over-rut is when one’s bodystarts to produce more than necessary once their rut/heat arrives. Their scent glands produce an alarming ammount of scent and their bodies are overflown with too many heat/rut hormones. Usually Omegas and Alphas can still somehow operate on their heats and ruts even if their bodies feel heavier or more jittery. This is not an option for someone that suffers from these conditions. Omegas feel excruciating pains, and are literally incapable of moving around or even talking properly. Alphas get extremely agressive, agitated and restless. They get practically feral all the way through, their minds completly unreachable to reason.

It’s worth noting that these people do not act the way they act because they want to. Unlike people that have normal heats/ruts, people that suffer from these conditions don’t know what’s going on at all, their brains shut down and instinct takes over completly. Needless to say, these conditions are dangerous not only for people around them but also for themselves. 

For Alphas the physical risks are glaring. The high ammount of adrenaline can cause their heart and other organs to suffer, their blood pressure sky-rockets for days, and they’re in constant alert. In extreme cases their heart can stop not only for the high ammount of adrenaline but also because of excessive testosterone, which increases the red cell count, making the Alpha more susceptible to a heart attack. Their Immune system is weakened in general, their high body temperature puts them at risk of dehydration and brain damage, and it can even result in ruptures in the lining of their stomach. Many Alphas that suffer of over-rutting can also suffer of fibromyalgia, ADHD, and Insomnia as a result if the condition is not treated correctly.  

Omegas, aside from being extremely vulnerable in times of heat, will suffer great pains due to their sexual craving, migraines, extreme fatigue, brain fog, inability to walk or discoordination and extreme fever (also risking dehydration). Omegas that suffer from over-heat can also suffer of depression, anxiety, narcolepsy, nymphomania, and over-production of slick outside of heats as well, if the condition is not treated properly. 

These people have to be prescribed special drugs/supressants so they can tone it down and at least experience a rut/heat close to normal levels. These people also should not risk getting out of the house close to said dates. Omegas are advised to wear chokers with their names, condition, address and hospital affiliation (if they have one) at all times in case they have their heat triggered away from home, as to prevent marking or bites from strangers. Alphas wear the same thing but around their wrist (kinda like those bracelets for diabetic people). 

These conditions are pretty harsh, but most can live normal lives and adjust their ruts and heats through proper medical assistance and meticulous and constant use of medication. So not many people die from it.

Poly Packs HC’s Pt.1

1. The classic Alpha/Omega/Alpha pack!

The omega gets twice the knot during their heats, twice the protection and most importantly, all the lovins they could ask for! Not to mention, so much fun! They want to have so many pups and the omega has to remind them that their omega is only one person.

2. Traditional Trio! Alpha/Beta/Omega pack!

They all start out as friends, but when it came to presenting, the beta was confused as to why their friends were acting differently. So they talk it all out.. the omega really likes the beta but likes the alpha just as much. The beta sees the alpha as a beautiful pillar in their life, the alpha sees the beta as sweet calming factory. The omega sees the both of them as beautiful humans they couldn’t do without. They decide to form a pack and the rest is history, they are inseparable. They have two pups amongst them. After all the alpha pestering the omega and getting the approval from their beautiful beta.

3. Sweet and Gentle pack Omega/Omega/Beta:

The omegas are both the doting type, always making sure the beta is ready for all their meetings or interviews if they looking for a job. During their heat cycles, the omegas help one another and the beta helps as well. They have often very long lovemaking sessions and they love it. Between the three of them, they have one pup, the beta doting and worrying for the carrying omega while the other omega spends way too much on things for the little one to be.

4. Topsy Turvy Pack Alpha/Beta/Alpha:

The two alphas are often at each other’s necks deciding which one has more reason to have the beta by their side during their rut cycle but ultimately the beta steps in and cuts that shit out with them. The beta is the peacemaker but they enjoy having two alphas to accompany them wherever they go, making sure that their mate is content and has all the things they need, one of the alphas wants to start making pups and the other isn’t necessarily ready and is more or less terrified of fucking up their pup and their beautiful connections to one another. Eventually they have a pup, they have a surrogate for their pregnancy after trying a few times and getting frustrated. Their omega surrogate has grown very fond of the pack and is around their home around the holidays and takes turns holding the pup during family photos.

5. The Simplicity is key Pack! Beta/Omega/Beta

They meet at a little coffee shop some where and hit it off. Starting off as friends and then slowly finding romance to be something they wished to pursue. The betas together take care of their precious omega, making sure they don’t feel uncomfortable or scared of going out for simple things. The betas are always helping their omega through their heats. When the omega expresses a long period of pup fever, the betas come up with a sweet little announcement to let their omega know just how much they want to have a pup.
