CONVERSATION PITS / COMMUNITY  NESTS

Hey Hi Hello! My Students, the nesting bug as come and bit me int he butt. Again. However, this is a different type of Nest Post! The other night @betasverse​ and I shared our love for Conversation Pits!

A Conversation Pit is an architectural feature that incorporates built-in seating into a sunken section of flooring, within a larger room. The seating face each other. This brings the occupants closer together, making conversation easier. These were popular in the 1950′s - 1970′s.

In My AU, every household would have one. It would be a common household feature. However, most conversation pits in my AU will not just have a solid floor at the bottom. They will have comfortable carpet, blankets, pillows, cushions, etc., filling the space. Tables in the middle are an option, but they are handy for food, drinks, table game, etc. These Conversation Pits (pits, CPs, Community Nests) can be placed anywhere, they are mostly placed in larger rooms. Like a living room. Though, I like to think they can be used outside too.

Since these “nests” are usually placed in common areas of the house, I think they’d be called “Community Nests” !!

You don’t need to put them in your AU. It’s your AU. If any of you are artist, I’d like to see your version of nests and/or community nests. Don’t let these photos LIMIT you from exploring this topic!

Cold Fall / Winter days, buried in the community nest with heated blankets and a warm drink.

Cool Summer nights, star gazing in the Community nests.

Steamy nights in the community nests with their potential mate while the family is out for the night. Don’t forget to clean up afterwards.

When looking for new homes, home buyers always inspect the Community Nest. Gotta make sure it’s a good fit!

Every Community Nest is different! Filled with different things, sizes are different, some have tables, some are close to fireplaces, some are outdoors and have fire pits!

Sleep overs in the Community Nests! Junk food, candy, empty cups everywhere.
