Alpha/beta/omega Dynamics - Tumblr Posts

I love this list so much because it adds so much verity to scents in the omegaverse. My personal favorite scents (From my favorite candle) are sea salt and lily, lavender, old books, and the smell of bread.

Thoughts on Scents

Thoughts On Scents

So I wanted to just give my thoughts on some interesting scent options, because no hate to sandalwood, it seems like everyone always smells like it in fics. And since I also have an indie perfume obsession, I wanted to share some scents that may broaden people's horizons. I may do a part two depending on how well I like how this turned out.

Pine resin, with hints of wood smoke, and warm brandy.

The smell of damp fresh earth after a summer rain.

Palo santo, dry desert grasses, and sage

Amber, laudanum, and frankincense

Tobacco, burnt grasses, with hints of citrus

Pine needles, forest floor, and stone

Saltwater, ambergris, fresh rain, beach sand

Stone, oakmoss, clay, and wet concrete

Animal fur musk, mulled wine, and a cold winter breeze

Freshly washed linen, lemon cakes, and black tea

Coconut, dark rum, and sugarcane

Leather bound books, a dying fire, and cedar

A crisp fall evening, apple orchards, and toasted marshmallows

Magnolias, Spanish moss, and honeysuckle

Sun warmed earth, tomato plants, and iced tea

Cactus flowers, sweet grass, and wood dry vanilla

Lemon grass, heliotrope, and sugar cookies

Dead leaves, dry hay, and cognac

And that's no even touching on all the different kinds of plants, flowers, and foods. I could go on for a very long time.

A Yiling Matriarch!JYL/ChengXian ABO AU

Specifically, I wanted to talk about a reimagining of the scene where the four major sects convene at Nightless City to discuss how to deal with the Yiling Patriarch, who is alpha!JYL in this case.

@lazilylurking and I were tossing around ideas, and basically:

Alpha!JC is still the YMJ’s sect leader in this AU, and as such, he attends the conference, but he doesn’t go with the intention to lend aid. Instead, he wishes to dissuade the others from attacking his sister.

Unfortunately, JYL misunderstood her brother and thought he would lay siege on her and the Wen remnants alongside the others.

She called JC a traitor in front of the other sects, cursed him with so much venom, JC could hardly recognize her.

“A-Jie!”

“You have the audacity to address me so affectionately after you plot to destroy me?”

Nothing he said got through to her until an impulsive youth at the conference attacked her, resulting in their death and leading into what becomes known as the Bloodbath of Nightless City.

The sibling of the impulsive youth sought to avenge them and lunged at JYL with their blade, but JYL is shielded by her brother, who takes a fatal blow to the heart.

“A-...A-Cheng?”

A wet cough. “Are you all right, A-Jie?”

She let out a blood-curdling wail as her brother bled out in her arms, hardly registering his gentle hand on her cheek and his last words: “Don’t forget: I love you, A-Jie.”

That day, she lost her brother, and omega!WWX lost his husband and father of his twin daughters.

When news reached Lotus Pier that Sect Leader Jiang was dead, supposedly murdered by his own sister, WWX was inconsolable, the weight of it all so heavy that he seemed to dissociate from the world. He only awoke from his episodes to tend to his infant daughters.

The YMJ still needed a leader, however, and with Lianqi (莲祺) and Lianzhen (莲祯) too young, he had to take up the mantle of sect leader, but he insisted on being referred to as Madame Jiang. The title of sect leader was reserved for JC and Lianqi.

Some afterthoughts:

In this universe, omega!WCZ survived the night hunt that canonically killed him and alpha!CSSR. Heavily but not mortally injured, he made it back to the inn WWX was left at and took him to Yunmeng, where he resumed his position as JFM’s personal attendant, and WWX was allowed to become a Jiang disciple. (There was no way he could raise WWX single-handedly without a more stable situation.) As a result of this change, WWX grew up with more discipline since WCZ was the docile one in his marriage with a strict sense of duty.

After JC dies, Zidian gets back to WWX, but he doesn’t have the heart to wear the ring; so, it hangs around his neck on a silk cord.

On that note, however, what if JC gave Zidian to JYL before he died? She can’t use it, but he doesn’t know that, and he hopes his gift will help keep her alive.

Gossip has misconstrued her possession of Zidian as her having stolen it as her brother died.

After the Siege of the Burial Mounds, the artifact still gets back to WWX, who somehow knows JYL didn’t steal it and begrudgingly understands why JC would leave it to her versus him.

Regardless, WWX clutches the ring whenever he feels he needs his late husband’s strength to get him through a tough time, sometimes talking to it as if it can act as a conduit to JC’s spirit.

Down the road, I see him giving up Zidian to Lianzhen and Sandu to Lianqi, hoping that his husband’s greatest weapons will watch over them.

FengRuo ABO AU

For @jae-duhb , I blame this whole idea on you.

For anyone reading this who is not familiar with her OC, Jin GuangYan (JGYan) is an alpha, the younger twin brother of Jin GuangShan, and so was not able to become Sect Leader for LanLing Jin.

This is a mix of stream of consciousness and excessively detailed plot outline, but it’s relatively linear and easy to follow.

This is almost 4k of something I never plan to write

Warnings: Include mentions of abuse, violence, miscarriages

Husband Dearest

A ChengXian ABO AU where WangXian was once a happy married couple until a freak accident gave LWJ amnesia, and unfortunate circumstances forced the couple to divorce.

.

.

LWJ just couldn’t reconnect with WWX no matter how much either of them tried.

Now divorced, WWX meets a young businessman in a coffee shop by the name of JC.

JC has seen his fair share of tragedy in recent years. His parents died in a car accident two years ago, and only a few weeks ago, his sister and brother-in-law died in a condo fire, leaving him to care for their barely-a-month-old son.

They grouse about the shitty days they’re having and lament their seemingly bleak lives together, which sparks a friendship that blooms into a loving marriage.

Within thirteen years, they have three beautiful children, a diligent nephew, and all the happiness in the world.

On the flip side, thirteen years later, LWJ seems to regain some of his lost memories and seeks out WWX.

[1/2] How 'bout an ABO AU where alpha!JZX was in love with omega!WWX, but thanks to WWX's status as a servant's son (and later a demonic cultivator), he couldn't pursue him? After marrying JZX, beta!JYL finally had a taste of how her mother felt in her relationship w/ her father—she would never be her husband's first choice. Resentment took root in her when the realization dawned on her, but she couldn't bring herself to be open about her feelings. She was too kind.

image

Jiang Yanli hates a part of herself. The part that had been glad when her little brother (her silly, mischievous, always smiling little brother who only wanted her to be happy) died a horrible death. That hideous part of her had been nothing but happy to hear it. Now A-Xuan will love me, it had whispered.

But no. Wei Wuxian was dead and she was alive but that didn’t matter to her husband. Jin Zixuan’s heart may as well have died with her brother.

Perhaps this is a fitting punishment for being so cruel and jealous. To live in a cold, loveless marriage like her mother had. To have the man she loves dream of a dead man.

Another Yiling Matriarch!JYL/ChengXian ABO AU

.

.

The canonical events leading up to the Burning of Lotus Pier are the same except ChengXian (alpha!JC x omega!WWX) are a relatively established couple, and alpha!JYL is pushed to take more interest in cultivation b/c it's unbecoming of someone of her dynamic to not be of higher cultivation level.

JYL is present during the Burning of Lotus Pier versus being in Meishan at the time and is forced to escape alongside her brothers at the insistence of YZY.

WWX still sacrifices his golden core for JC b/c, like in canon, WWX (and now JYL) left him to gather supplies in an alleyway, but he noticed that Wen disciples were hot on one of their trails and became a diversion.

Again, like in canon, it's WWX who finds him in the remains of the Lotus Pier, and the Wen siblings still cover for them during their brief stay, but this time, WWX convinces JC  to take his golden core rather than lying to him. This means WWX remains at JC's side even after his core's been taken out b/c it's not a secret, and JC's well aware that WQ's the one who performed the surgery.

Meanwhile, by the time JYL finds out her brothers have both disappeared, she's captured by WC and has her core melted by WZL before being tossed into the Burial Mounds.

She miraculously survives just as WWX had, but like him, she's warped mentally and becomes vengeful. The resentful energy has brought out her mother's traits in her, and they're not the best.

Post-core transplant, ChengXian search for their sister but come up short and are soon found by LXC, who takes them to the Cloud Recesses.

While JC's out on the battlefield during the Sunshot Campaign, WWX's doing what JYL had done in canon, tending to the needs of the soldiers recovering.

And then, of course, Yiling Matriarch!JYL swoops in and turns the tide of war so that it's in the allied sects' favor w/ her undead troops.

Only a few months into the war, ChengXian marry b/c their mortality has been shoved in their face this whole time, and they don't want to wait ‘til a battle takes JC away before they can officially be together. The result of this is a pregnant WWX, who gives birth to Jiang Lianqi (江莲祺) and Jiang Lianzhen (江莲祯), twin girls.

To make this a long story short, the Wen remnants still end up on the Burial Mounds under JYL's protection, and JYL retaliates against a major offense from the LLJ Sect by summoning corpses at a banquet that she didn't realize her family was attending, resulting in the twin girls' deaths and a severely-injured WWX, who contracts corpse poisoning that leaves him sickly even after it was purged from his body w/ great effort on JC's part.

The Siege of the Burial Mound occurs, and 13 years later, JYL returns in the body of MM.

.

.

Afterthoughts:

Instead of WQ, it's WN who comes to Yunmeng and asks WWX for help, but WWX can't do anything by himself to that degree, and so he pleads with his husband to help the Wen siblings. Unfortunately, JC gets too caught up in the political side of things, and it's JYL who actually gets the Wen remnants out of their situation. She wasn't helped by them personally, but after hearing about how they helped her brothers, she can't not be grateful.

WQ becomes JYL’s Ghost General.

A-Yuan ends up in the care of ChengXian after the siege, and while at first WWX thought JC was trying to replace their dead daughters, he grew to love AY as his own son. Unfortunately, the cultivation world likes to remind AY that he's not his parents' child but a no-name orphan they took in.

At the end of this AU, WWX reveals he's become pregnant again, and JC's scared he'll lose WWX in the process. (The first pregnancy left him extremely weak, and he wasn't as sickly then.) However, WWX just squeezes his hand and gives him a meaningful look.

Nobody knows about the core transplant beyond the Wen siblings and ChengXian themselves.

If anyone asks about WWX’s lack of spiritual energy, they’ll say WWX lost his core to WZL in the Burning of Lotus Pier.

JC swears that he’ll protect WWX w/ the core he’s been given.

WWX often mercy killed JC's prisoners that he captured, interrogated, and tortured for being (alleged) demonic cultivators and potential vessels for JYL's return.

He’d give them a pill of poison that would lead to a slow but painless death, and more often than not, JC would assume they died from their injuries.

JZX is...somewhere in this AU. He’s probably banished from his sect after he tried to protect JYL and becomes a well-known rogue cultivator, awaiting the return of the Yiling Matriarch.

The Trash Fires are a Power Couple

An ABO AU where a married couple transmigrated into the bodies of omega!SS and alpha!JZXun

.

.

In their first life, Yin Angye (訚昂烨 / YAY) and Wei Mujing (韦慕晶 / WMJ) were a renowned martial arts director and the CEO of a family-run corporation that had been happily married for over a decade. Unfortunately, a freak car accident took their lives, and they were thrust into the bodies of two scummy cultivators. (You know who they are. Their names are in the header.)

The couple must now navigate this unfamiliar cultivation world while thinking one another are dead. They’ll reunite, of course, and realize they’re both alive in this world, but it’d be much easier if there were less adjusting to be done and politics and a war on the horizon between four of the great sects and the tyrannical one that’s trying to squash them all under its thumb, but they’ll manage. They always did.

All of Me

An alpha!Michael x omega!Alto ABO AU where they were an established couple, and an unprotected night resulted in an unexpected pregnancy

.

.

Alto didn’t find out until the night Ranka planned to leave Frontier to return Ai-kun to his home planet.

Brera, compelled by a strange gut instinct, checked his physical condition before knocking the pistol out of his hand and subduing him rather than resorting to more violent tactics.

“You shouldn’t get worked up in your condition,” he told him, and Alto growled.

“What the hell’s that supposed to mean?!”

“Stress isn’t good for an omega with child.”

...

Silence.

There was only a tiny gasp of surprise from Ranka, and tears broke their dams in Alto’s eyes.

It...it couldn’t be true. It couldn’t be!

Oh, but it was. The proof was in Brera’s holographic screens that he so kindly pulled up to show him.

Michael left this world with all of him, but he left a piece of himself in Alto.

.

.

Notes

MihaAru’s relationship was a secret. Everybody knew they weren’t single, but nobody knew who their partners were. It was kind of a game amongst the Mihoshi students to guess who MihaAru were seeing, and there was most likely a betting pool out there.

Klan took this pretty hard. Her childhood friend didn’t choose her and was seeing some mysterious person he refused to tell her about. What was so special about them? Why keep it a secret? Did they even exist at all, or was it some kind of trick to keep all the suitors off his back?

When Sheryl asked if Alto was making excuses to his partner—perhaps that girl, Ranka—during their little outing, Alto was terse, “No, we trust each other.” That was all the confirmation Sheryl needed to know she was with a taken man. So, being the mature person she was, she didn’t make anymore advances toward him but did take every opportunity to tease him about his mystery girl- or boyfriend.

Ranka never figured out Alto was already seeing someone until that night when Brera revealed to Alto that he was pregnant. She never asked, and he never perceived her gestures as romantic. If he was seeing anyone, Ranka guessed it was Sheryl, her rival, and she continued to think that until after the conflict with the Vajra was resolved.

While Sheryl was able to deduce that MihaAru were an item just by watching them, it was revealed to Klan when Michael died, when his last words were an apology and a farewell to Alto. Ranka had to be told when she asked if the baby was Sheryl’s.

Following the revelation of his pregnancy, Alto was hysterical. The Vajra took his baby’s father, and Michael left him all alone to raise them. How could he’ve possibly thought straight regarding the Vajra after this was dumped on him?

He wanted to do nothing more than to eradicate the insectoid race with his own hands, but Klan was the one who brought him back to reality. “A piece of Michel is inside you right now. A part of him is still here,” she told him. “Don’t you dare run headlong into danger when they’re the only link to Michel we have now!”

She then vowed to him that she’d get revenge for the both of them, and that Alto should take care of himself and the baby in Michael’s name if nothing else.

After the final conflict with Grace, Klan and Alto bonded over their mutual loss and even became a couple, raising the baby together on the Frontier’s new planet.

If “Wings of Goodbye” had Been an ABOverse

Just imagine if omega!Alto had gotten pregnant after an unbridled night with alpha!Sheryl, and when he returned (from wherever tf he was taken), Sheryl woke up to see him at her bedside with a small child in his lap.

Also imagine if Alto died when their child was eight or so, and they grew up wanting to be a pilot just like their mother, but Sheryl disapproved, fearing that she’d lose them, too.

Oiran x Maiko

An ABO AU where omega!Ryunosuke and omega!Kosuzu are an oiran and maiko in love

(A big thanks to my friend on Discord, Paullsia, who helped me with this!)

Ryunosuke’s backstory remains relatively the same. He’s still the son of a samurai who sold his status to pay off his debts and a mother who refuses to acknowledge that the glory days are over. He also has his affinity for art and works peasant jobs to put food on the table. His fate diverges when his mother decides to sell him to a brothel in Kyoto’s red light district since, in her own words, “he might as well sell himself for that, too.” He’s seven at the time.

Kosuzu is the daughter of a geisha, who raised her to love the arts just as much as she did. Her training starts when she’s seven, as well.

The two are fueled by very different things. Where Ryunosuke is motivated by a need to spite everyone who thinks he can’t be cultured and charismatic, Kosuzu simply wants to share her love of song and dance with everyone.

When they first meet at lessons, it’s a rivalry at first sight. Ryunosuke doesn’t understand how someone can be so enthused about putting on a show in these gilded cages, and Kosuzu fails to see how such a grumpy and half-hearted boy can be so good at everything he does. They fight for the top spot in every class they share, pushing themselves to excel far above their peers. Everybody in the district knows their names.

Ryunosuke, running (almost) entirely on spite, shoots up the ranks after his debut and achieves oiran status at the age of sixteen.

Kosuzu is not yet a full-fledged geisha, but she’s why her senior sister has the most recurring customers out of all the geisha in her okiya.

The cream of the crop, everyone is vying for them; however, right under their noses, the pair’s heated rivalry is blooming into a forbidden romance born from mutual respect and a shared love for art.

.

Afterthoughts:

In this universe, omega men are just one step above women in the social hierarchy, and that means all women: alphas, betas, and omegas. An omega man will be deferred to before an alpha woman, even if the world has similar expectations for them. Being male just affords them a few more privileges.

As a male, Ryunosuke is allowed to leave the hanamachi unlike his female counterparts, and typically, this would mean he’d need to disguise his scent and obscure his face. However, he dresses so casually and speaks so crudely outside that he only needs to alter his scent because there’s no way this boorish young man could be a refined courtesan.

When Ryunosuke can’t accompany Kosuzu outside, she might bring back things that she passes onto him at lessons.

Ryu’s professional name is Shuugetsu (秋月 / “autumn moon”). It’s said that the moon is best seen during autumn when the sky is clear, and the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. It’s a beautiful scene, and that’s what he told his ageya when asked why he chose his name. Secretly, it was inspired by Kosuzu after she made a comment during a secret nighttime outing.

In his early years, Ryu was very familiar with irate patrons, earning himself tongue-lashings and resounding slaps, thanks to his poor attitude. One particularly cross man kicked him with drunken rage and would’ve beat him more had his senior brother not quelled the situation.  When his senior brother took the ageya’s punishment on his behalf, he realized what consequences could follow his actions, and that in the future, he must also be willing to shield those under him.

Those of Ryu’s patrons who bring large parties often ask for him and Kosuzu’s senior sister, who’ll bring Kosuzu along as her junior, to work their banquet. This means the pair get to work together a fair amount.

When they’re older, sometime after Kosuzu becomes a full-fledged geisha and has paid off her debt to the okiya, Ryunosuke has a son sired by a young lord who rejects responsibility for them.

Through letters and other means, the omega/omega pair arrange for Kosuzu to become the baby’s guardian after he’s weaned off his mother’s milk, and each of them picks out a character for his name: Kotetsu.

Ryunosuke chooses “ko” as in 琥, referring to his son’s amber eyes; while Kosuzu chooses “tetsu” as in 哲, meaning “sage.”

Ryu actually procrastinates and doesn’t come up with anything ‘til after his child is born, and Kosuzu makes fun of him for choosing something so unimaginative.

The sad part of all this is that he can’t openly be a mother to Kotetsu since his pregnancy was kept secret to preserve the reputation of his ageya. He has to watch him grow up from a distance with barely a hand in his life through Kosuzu.

Bloody Head God

Controversial god!WWX + ABOD’s

.

.

Before ascension, he was a general who survived a stab wound through the head, which left an ugly scar in the center of his forehead. He gained a cult following for this feat and his bloody victory in the war against the foe that mutilated him. His followers all wear red marks in commemoration of his amazing survival with the highest-ranking members wearing actual scars. His statues often double as fountains, water running from thematically appropriate holes in their foreheads.

As an omega god, his image is closer to a fiery force of carnage rather than one of method and strategy. You can thank the sexism that paints omegas as highly emotional (and therefore unfit for the battlefield).

The reality is people have buried the true WWX: his playfulness, charisma, wit, and talent in all the Six Arts. In equal measure, they overlook the part of him that is a defender, a solid and imposing wall between the weak and the ones who would exploit them.

The most obscure aspect of WWX, however, is his motherhood. He is a god, one often depicted as an immense force of violence and martial prowess, but there’s not one good mother alive who doesn’t understand the plight of another.

Inspired by several fix-it fics, some including MingXian(Wang): Somehow, someway, alpha!LWJ and omega!WWX end up having a passionate night during his visit to Yiling, and consequently, WWX ends up pregananant. Thanks to WQ's abrasive suggestion to tell LWJ that their coupling was fruitful, he writes to LWJ, but this letter is intercepted by the fence-sitter whose name is LXC, who keeps the letter a secret from LWJ b/c he knows his lovesick brother will go running headlong to the Burial Mounds and do whatever the hell WWX asks of him, and right now, his sect cannot afford it.

So, WWX takes the lack of a reply as a rejection, and WQ goes on to say that he needs to get the help of someone b/c no way can WWX raise a babe on the Burial Mounds, and that somehow leads to WWX getting in contact with NHS, who enlists the help of his brother, alpha!NMJ, who agrees to marry WWX after hearing his plight.

When news reaches the ears in the Cloud Recesses, LWJ is upset that WWX is supposedly rejecting him, and LXC swallows any guilt he feels to tell himself it’s all for Wangji’s own good and that of the sect’s. LQR doesn’t really think much of it other than, “Finally! That rascal’s being brought to heel, and who better to do it than Chifeng-zun?”

JC’s in Lotus Pier, seething his head off, but as much as he’s offended by WWX seeking help from the QHN sect, he’s subconsciously relieved that his brother’s not holed up in the Burial Mounds anymore.

It’s just a gigantic shit-fest of Feels™.

“Jie, why’re we in a temple of the Bloody Head General? Didn’t you say you wanted to pray for the health of your marriage and your children to come?”

“I did, and we are.”

“This omega god is a martial god, and a savage one at that! How could he possibly help you live in that snake pit called Koi Tower other than smite the scheming bastards?”

“A-Cheng, you shouldn’t speak so ill of A-Xuan’s family! Furthermore, Bloody Head General is indeed a fierce warrior whom many pray to in the name of violence, but legend says he was a mother before his ascension, and there’s not a mother alive who doesn’t understand the plight of another.”

The day before her marriage, JYL prays to the vicious god in Yiling for protection in the Lanling Jin sect. This confuses everyone who knows her sweet and gentle nature and inclination toward pacifism. It’s understandable; everything they say about WWX as a martial god is true. From his gruesome battle tactics to his fierce temper, WWX is a force not to be taken lightly. These are, however, only the aspects his human worshippers choose to give focus.

Touched by her judgment of his character, WWX answers her prayers in the form of MXY, a young bastard of JGS’s who is moved by JYL’s immediate recognition of him as family and genuine kindness. He is then rewarded with a small gift of precognition that he decides to use to help a good woman live well in a den of venomous snakes.

WWX, from his divine dwelling, watches the evildoers burn and the righteous ones rise from their ashes.

(Works in tangent with The Bloody Head God AU!)

“You should’ve stayed Somnus Parthenos!”

“I would have had you not gallivanted across Eos instead of ruling the people!”

“I was healing the sick! I was fulfilling my Astral-given duty!”

“No, you were meant to be king, but that title came with the burden of having to make choices, and you chose to use your gift to run away while I dealt with the consequences.”

“As if you were extending your hand across the table!”

“Numerous times I beseeched you to coordinate with me and devise a more effective method of containing the Starscourge, but Elder Brother always knew better, didn’t he?”

— Ardyn vs. Somnus, the confrontation in modern Insomnia

In an omegaverse where omegas who took up arms divorced themselves from their families and swore an oath of celibacy—think of it as “taking the black” in Game of Thrones—they were styled with the epithet Parthenos. Somnus was a prominent example.

Envious of his alpha brother’s popularity but acknowledging of his scant chance of ever ascending as the Chosen King, he became Somnus Parthenos and fought on the frontlines against the mounting daemons. However, Ardyn made himself scarce when it came to leading Eos and left Somnus to do it on his behalf. It was frustrating, and while Somnus admitted that Ardyn’s cleansing method was ideal, it barely dent the number of daemons plaguing the land.

At some point, he couldn’t give Ardyn anymore time. Resources were drying up, and the restlessness amongst the people was mounting; so, he dirtied his hands with the burnt flesh of the suspicious and afflicted. Their deaths haunted him, but it was proving more effective than his brother’s slow one-by-one process; thus, he steeled his resolve. That was what it meant to be a king.

When Aera disclosed to him that Ardyn was chosen by the Astrals, his resentment reached a boiling point, and as per canonical events, he challenged his brother for the throne, donning the Lucis Caelum name once again. He harbored no intent to kill Ardyn, but he became so enveloped in his fury that he hadn’t realized he was about to land a fatal blow until Aera threw herself between them. Horrified, Somnus dropped his weapons but had to re-summon them all too soon as Ardyn transformed into a daemon unlike any other. With an apology stuck in his throat, he defeated his brother and locked him away on Angelgard.

Following his ascension as king and founder of Lucis, Somnus chose black as the royal color to perpetually mourn Ardyn’s fate, and Ardyn Lucis Caelum was written into Lucian history. However, textbooks are missing his transformation into a daemon and subsequent imprisonment, and instead, they say the founder king’s brother fell to the Starscourge. Ardyn supposes it’s a partial truth, but partial is still only partial.

Honestly, if alpha!Gilgamesh became king consort of omega!Somnus, he wouldn’t want his true name to be written in the family registry. He’d want to keep his identities as the king’s shield and the king’s spouse separate to maintain some form of professional dignity; so, he might go by an alias—Erebus Lucis Caelum?—when needed as the king consort. A potential consequence is history forgetting that it was the first Shield of the King who fathered the line of Lucis. Gilgamesh would be perfectly happy with this.

Y’know, I refer to Somnus as a king in the two or three posts I talk about him, but when I really think about it, an omega Somnus might be called a queen ‘til modern times. The ancient world was rife with rigid gendered traditions, after all, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they slapped a feminine title on him. Several editions of Cosmogony and textbooks probably have “Founder Queen” written on their pages, and so do the plaques accompanying his monuments. I’d say this changed in the last two centuries of Lucian history.

In a perfect world, I like to imagine that an omega King Noctis has three daughters by Prompto and Gladiolus, alphas; and Ignis, a beta.

Gladio fathered the first daughter and Crown Princess of Lucis, Amaryllis;

Prompto fathered the second, Aurora;

and Ignis fathered the third, Alma.

They were born in the same order as when the boys married their king, and as a trio, they’re affectionately called the Triple A (AAA). The rest of the kingdom knows them as the Three Stars of Lucis.
