Chatter grew loud as the girls slept, the boys were so curious about them that some of them didn't even stop looking at them. The boys were too loud however, as it woke up Maria. She slowly opened her eyes, seeing boys huddled around her "Oh, good morning Green bean" Chuck said as he gave her a smile. Maria smiled back, she liked this one "Morning" she said while sitting up. Lydia was still out, fast asleep in her fetus position "How'd you sleep" Chuck asked. As Chuck talks to Maria, the rest of the boys become uninterested "I slept good thank you. How did you sleep?" She asked him as she slipped out of her hammock. They continued talking, his company was very welcoming and he sort of reminder her of a little brother she didn't remember having. A sense of urgency to protect him no matter what came into play "Sorry to interrupt you, but what is your name?" Maria asked while she retied her shoe. He laughed a little "My name is Chuck" he introduced himself "And I want to assume your name might Janson. You kept whispering it in your sleep" he said while putting his hands on his hips.

Maria shrugged "Sounds more like a boys name" she said while staring at Chuck. Lydia sat up, catching the twos attention "Morning" she greeted as she popped her neck and back. They greeted her back, seeing dark rain clouds start to fall in.

Rain poured down, almost flooding the place "Does it normally rain this hard?" Maria asked as she watched people run around. The girls sat on a bench with Chuck, chatting about small things in the glade "A lot of the guys already have interest in you guys" Chuck said while laughing to himself. Lydia leaned back "Which ones?" She said as she saw random boys running around, not seeing the one guy she was truly looking for. Chuck smiled "Zart and Gally for sure have a crush on you, Greenie" he said while pointing them out. Maria laughed too, entertained "Oh no way, who's into her" Lydia asked as she gestured to Maria. Maria's face turned a crimson color "Oh, Ummmmm" Chuck said while scanning the area "Him" he said as he pointed at a boy. The girls followed to where Chuck was pointing "Winston" he named. As Chuck pointed, it seemed to of caught Winston's attention "Oh and here he comes" Lydia stated the obvious. Maria nudged Lydia, hearing as her dear friend kept laughing "Be nice" Lydia reminded her as Winston grew closer to them.

Chuck greeted Winston as he approached them, Maria viewed him as secretly as she could "Not bad" she whispered. Lydia nodded as she started to look else where, maybe seeing the one guy she was weirdly interested in knowing. Winston then walked up to Maria, he stuck his hand out "Hello, I'm Winston" he introduced himself. Maria reached up and shook his hand "Hello, its nice to meet you" she said while standing up. Their conversation was then cut short, screaming and shouting erupted from the Maze's entrance "What's happening?" Lydia asked as she too stood up. Winston took off, running towards the rest of the crowd "Hurry, we need to get over there" Chuck said as he tried his best to run. The girls followed, trying to stay with Chuck so he wasn't left behind.

The boys were screaming, yelling things like "Come on! Minho you can make it!" and "Minho just leave him!" another shouted. The girls pushed threw the crowd of screaming boys, seeing that the entrance to the maze was closing "Who's all in there?" Maria asked while trying her best to peek over someone's shoulder. Lydia saw it clear as day on what was happening, in the maze she saw Minho as he tried his hardest to get Alby back to safety. The walls were getting close "Minho! Leave him!" Chuck yelled out, Lydia looked down at Chuck. With no warning, Lydia then sprinted into the maze, feeling as multiple hands reached for her "GREENIE!!" Gally yelled. Lydia sprinted as fast as she could towards Minho "Come on" Lydia said as she took one shoulder, seconds later louder hollers echoed as Thomas ran into the maze as well. The loud bang of the door fully shutting boomed "Good job Dumbasses. Now were all going to die" he said while letting go of Alby. Lydia rested her hands on her knees, trying her best to catch her breath "For fuck sakes" Lydia mumbled as she looked down at Alby "Why is he unconscious" she asked. Minho sighed to himself as he lifted Alby's shirt to reveal the sting "I had to do what I knew was right" he said, barely giving an explanation. The loud growls ricocheted off the stone walls "This is going to be a long night" Lydia said, slightly complaining.

Maria took a sharp breath, like she had the wind knocked out of her "Maria" she blurted, almost like it was something that forcefully came out. Gally raised an eye brow "Maria??" he questioned "My name is Maria" she said as she looked at him. He didn't seemed impressed "Of course, some big event happens and you so happen to figure out your name. Whatever, it doesn't matter. Glad to hear you figured out your name" he says as he pats Maria's shoulder before walking off. Maria sighed, feeling slightly ashamed "Don't sweat it Maria. I'm glad you figured out your name" Chuck said while he punched her arm. She smiled "Thank you Chuck" she said as she turned around. In the distance, she could see the Gardens and standing up against a post was that blonde haired boy. She didn't like him, as negative as that was she knew something wasn't good about him - Or that's what she assumed. She didn't understand why she didn't like Newt, something about him just really irked her. Like she knew something no one else did.

The rain finally slowed down to a sprinkle "Newt is our second in command, but I'm sure you already knew that" Chuck said while he dropped down into his hammock. Maria stared at the doors, wishing they'd just open so the rest of the group could come back in. One day in here and the only other girl was already breaking rules, running into the maze and getting stuck out there. Maria only really stuck with Chuck, he was her comfort and she found him to be like her little brother "Chuck, do you think they'll make it?" she asked, hoping he'd have some sort of closure. Chuck didn't answer, instead he handed Maria a little wooden star with little designs in it "Have this, It was something I was originally going to give it to the other Greenie. But, you know" he said while walking away. Maria stared down at the star, seeing the the little swirls that were engraves "Hey" she heard next to her. She didn't have to look to know who was standing there "Hello" she said while looking at him. Newt stood there, with his arms crossed "Chucks telling everyone you figured out your name" he said while standing right next to her. Maria side eye'd him, she hummed in response and Newt caught on quick "Well, Maria. I'm Newt. But you should know me anyway, you punched me" he said while looking over at her. Maria looked him up and down, viewing his figure "I don't know what it is about you. But every time I see you I have a feeling that I shouldn't be around you" he said while turning his whole body towards her. Maria felt a little uneasy "I feel the same way, Something about you really bothers me" she replied back while also turning towards him.

The night was long, the only thought on everyone's mind was the debate on whether or not the rest of them were going to make it. Majority had doubts, meaning the people who thought they could make it was slim.
