Hurt/comfort writers see a character and be like “I want to see them fall so far but I also want them to land on something soft”

Can we just talk about how in the scene where Vi is hurt and Caitlyn tries to calm her down with the “easy, easy, easy…” . She wants to comfort Vi so bad from her despair, so she brushes her thumb over her face in such subtle, tender, caring way to sooth her. But, in the process she herself loses focus as soon as her eyes meets Vi’s and just then, Vi starts actually calming down, when she finds Caitlyn’s eyes looking into hers. I feel like that’s the moment that internally they were both like “oh…”.
