Thank you so much for this post! I’m pretty weak myself so I feel personally attacked every time someone bashes Cinderella for not being as tough and independent as other Disney princesses.

Cinderella was too weak to fight for herself...AND THAT’S OKAY!

I cannot believe we’re still tearing Cinderella down! 2018 only has a few months left and we’re still doing this, we’re still painting her as the weakest Disney princess and we’re still painting her weakness as a bad thing?

Why?

Why are people so caught up on bashing this princess?

“The movie is so simplistic—”

In what way is it possibly simplistic?!

“She didn’t work hard—”

YES, SHE DID!

“Well, okay, but the fairy godmother still had to come in—”

Yep, I remember the movie too, and the countless stories on which it’s based.

“So the fairy godmother was the one who caused the happily ever after.”

She sure was, now, what’s your point?

No, really, what’s your point? Is the point that Cinderella is somehow weak because she wasn’t 100% in control of her own life? Seems like a pretty disgusting opinion to have when the whole movie is about an abuse victim finding a way out of her horrible situation. So Cinderella wasn’t the one who got herself out. So what? Instead of looking the movie at its bare surface, maybe try analyzing it with a bit more thought and tact. You might see something a little different. A magical transformation, if you will.

Because Cinderella did work hard.

And guess what we learned from that?

You can work

image

and work

image

and work

image

And there will still be people out there who will try to tear you apart:

image

Literally.

And that sucks. It’s a horrible lesson to learn but it is something we will all face in our lifetimes. There will always be people who will try to tear us down, there will always be people who will try to rip us apart, until we’re in a low place:

image

Until it seems like there’s no hope…

image

Until it seems like you’re too weak to get out on your own…

And maybe you are.

Maybe you are too weak to get out on your own. Maybe you’re not the strongest woman in the world. Maybe you’re not capable of screaming at the top of your lungs or brandishing a weapon or throwing a punch. Maybe you’re not able to get out of something on your own. Maybe you hit a low point and maybe you have no way out of it. Not alone. But that’s just it.

You’re not alone.

image

Even at your lowest point, someone will come help you.

You don’t have to do it all alone.

It’s okay to have a little help when you have nowhere else to turn.

Cinderella is the story about an abuse victim who is unable to get out of her toxic situation by herself and just when she begins to lose all hope, is able to get help from an unlikely source. It’s the story about a girl who needs help getting to her happily ever after and that’s okay.

Give us advocates:

image

They deserve their happily ever afters!

Give us warriors:

image

They deserve their happily ever afters!

Give us fighters:

image

They deserve their happily ever afters!

Give us girls who are not advocates, girls who are not warriors, girls who are not fighters, girls who still deserves their happily ever afters:

I couldn’t agree more

Beemoov shouldn't put Lance as LI because they would not be able to make a good redemption for him.

Both Leiftan and Lance killed innocent people, caused genocides. Both must pay for their crimes. However, I don't think Beemoov knows how to develop this.

An example is Nathaniel's route in HSL: when Francis proves to be an abusive father, everything seems to be resolved with him paying an apartment for his son to live alone, when, in fact, they should have gone further. Nathaniel was beaten by Francis for years. With a mother who never did anything to defend him. Francis deserved at least a few years in jail.

In Eldarya, Erika has already indicated that she would live an abusive relationship with Lance:

• Lance tried to kill Erika more than once;

• He kidnapped her;

• He hit her;

• He threatened her with death for days.

And about all this, what Erika thinks of him is:

• She think he's smart;

• She finds him thought provoking;

• She felt sorry for his past;

• She can possibly get romantically involved with him.

There is a certain romanticization and trivialization of villains in Beemoov's scripts. As if what they did could be fixed with a little good attitude, or showing a minimum of regret. This is not how it works. Especially in cases like Lance and Leiftan, who killed innocent people and must pay for their crimes. But I don't think Beemoov can write scripts like that. It would end up that Lance's redemption would be something very small, or else it would be to love Erika (which is much worse).

I've posted here before the thousands of reasons why Lance's route shouldn't happen, and I also don't think Leiftan is right. But, it seems, the fandom is full of girls who seem to have Stockholm Syndrome, who love to say that they are adults, but in fact are not as mature as they think, because if they were, they would understand the seriousness of such a relationship. But instead, they "fall in love" and idolize guys who treat them like trash.

Girls who want a route with Lance have probably never had an abusive relationship, or witnessed anything like that. And, in this way, they end up contributing to the normalization and romanticization of these types of guys and relationships. They contribute to the stereotypes of the fanfics: the boy is completely toxic to the girl, but in the end he is "cured" and "transformed" by her love. You are helping to reinforce and romanticize this stereotype. Please think about it. Think about the people who have been through this and how they must feel to see you loving and idolizing someone like Lance.

"Ah, but we know what an abusive relationship is."

No. You don't know. Because if you knew, if you are aware of the seriousness of it, you would not be supporting a route with Lance. Although it is just a game, you are helping to reinforce wrong ideas about what love is and you are giving fame and space to toxic guys like Lance.

I can only hope that they never experience something like that.

Get a picture of how "sweet" this guy is.

Beemoov Shouldn't Put Lance As LI Because They Would Not Be Able To Make A Good Redemption For Him.
